Five ambulances were called to the scene of the shootings in the 2900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue about 8 p.m., according to the Fire Department's news office.
And it's only the first day of summer - schools just let out. Will McCompStat survive through July?

The McCarthy countdown is on. Alderman were overheard talking this morning and what they said was basically McCarthy had his chance actually several chances and to put it as simple as can be , he has failed as superintendent. A shakeup is coming. If nothing else they want change and fresh ideas how to stop the violence in Chicago. Stay tuned!
Terrible editing in the Trib re Kelvyn Park shootings, "one taken to Stroger Hospital, but was died there". Are they hiring drop out cps students or what???

Last night ended w/ 3 dead and 11 wounded. A bit better than last Friday. Last weekend's count mostly came from Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Since they are changing vri hours start time to 1900 hours due to crime happening after 0200 hrs, Will they now add more officers to work days because people are getting shot earlier in the day????

Best thing boys and girls back each other up, to home safe, as a veteran copper crime was there when the older guys like me came on and it will be there when you guys leave, so don't stress, enjoy your families, vri is ok but everyday working is another day away from the people you love and care about, and you can never get that time back! Vri also puts you in jeopardy on your day off of cr numbers, serious injury, lawsuits,and noses with absolutely no regards or caring for the working copper, you will be thrown under the bus an example that I have been more than once but no more!

Thank you to my neighbor who caught two young men stealing bikes from another neighbor’s garage yesterday. The response from the 22nd District was immediate. Thanks for the great service from both the on and off duty officers.
