Ok, three people taken to Christ in serious to critical according to CFD. Two of those taken to Christ were officers. None of those injured was thought to have life threatening injuries, according to CPD News Affairs.

Kinda contradicts itself in two paragraphs, doesn't it?

Chicago officers and retirees deserve no less than their NYC counterparts.

No, it doesn't. That's an instant assessment and life-threatening literally means live or die. You can lose a leg and not have a life-threatening injury, according to their criteria, so it's very misleading to the layman.

A friend working the desk told me today he heard that Toni Preckwinkle has passed through the Cook County Board or will seek to pass a new law making it illegal for a landlord in Cook County to refuse to rent to a Section 8 tenant.

Does anyone know if this is true?

As if we don't have enough reasons to get out of Cook County, this will ruin neighborhoods and destroy the apartment rental business. I have rental condos and will sell and/or simply take them off the market before I ever rent to a Section 8 dog. I will go to 100% word of mouth, no advertising.

Fucking Section 8 mutt thinks they can knock on my door and get into one of my properties, HELL NO!

OT: This from the online tribune.

"Tavis Smiley among latest celebrities supporting Jackson Jr."

The article goes on to quote other supporters of JJJR, asking the court to weigh all of the good his done toward his sentencing.

I thought public officials, especialy elected public officials, are supposed to be held to a higher standard.
So giving JJJR a break is a slap in the face to every average criminal that hasn't sworn an oath to uphold the public trust.

JJJR needs to serve the maximu amount of time for any sentence handed down. That sentence by the way should be the maximum allowed by law. It would be for you or me.

Yeah scc maybe put the word out about this. Brian worked in 008 for the past 5 or 6 years. Before that he was in tru and 007 I believe. He was only in his early 30s with a wife and two very young children. He will be missed. Yes, he was a great policeman but more importantly he was a great person, husband and father.. Which is what really matters, not this job. God bless Brian. I'm sure we will be in the works to get a benefit or two going for his family.

Maybe the politicians in New York don't loot the state and city to the degree that they loot here in Chicago and Illinois.

CHICAGO ALREADY HAS A SIMILAR LAW.
A landlord cannot refuse a tenant with the ability to pay based upon the source of his or her rental income.

What you need to do is run credit checks on all tenants. Many of the shady applicants will turn and walk away when you insist upon a credit report (make the prospective tenants pay the fee for processing the application too). It is not discriminatory to reject a tenant due to a lousy credit score. Many tenants want to wave dollars in front of you to gain access to an apartment, but do not want to have their credit reviewed. Maybe they have judgments, bankruptcies or prior evictions.

The $50.00 for a credit report may be the best money a landlord ever spends. Evicting a bad tenant costs dearly.

Yup, I posted about this at least a month ago. Nobody was interested. Unless you're a landlord, you think it isn't your problem. But, if every landlord in the county is required to rent to any section 8 tenant, it will quickly BECOME the problem of every single resident of the safe and orderly neighborhoods in this city.
My neighbor was carrying a postcard around that the County had sent out in a very selective manner. At the time, the Board was about to discuss and vote on it, so it probably went through very, very quietly. If it's still pending, time to make your feelings heard, guys.

Problem is, in order to rent to a Section 8 tenant, your property has to pass Section 8's inspection. Seems like involuntary compliance is an unreasonable financial burden on a landlord, and that would be where I'd hang my hat in a lawsuit.
