Lisa Gets Her Delay
- The U.S. Supreme Court granted an extension Tuesday for Illinois's attorney general to decide whether to appeal a court order permitting the state's gun owners to carry concealed firearms.
Justice Elena Kagan granted a delay until July 22, essentially a second 30 days of leeway that allows Attorney General Lisa Madigan time to craft a response. She could also scuttle the whole matter if Gov. Pat Quinn signs concealed-carry legislation awaiting his response.
That's a separate deadline than the one on July 9, by which time Quinn must decide whether to make it legal to carry concealed guns.
And you can tell it's a game because Daddy Madigan is saying he isn't worried about a Quinn veto in the least:
- House Speaker Michael Madigan today dismissed any concern that Gov. Pat Quinn may veto the delicately negotiated concealed weapons legislation passed last month, saying he expected that lawmakers would overwhelmingly reject an attempt to block or change the bill.
- The speaker pointed out that both chambers passed the concealed carry legislation with more than the three-fifths vote that would be needed to override Quinn if he should veto the bill or used his amendatory authority to offer changes for legislators to consider.
“At the end of the day,” Speaker Madigan said, “if the governor were to veto or to offer an amendatory veto, he’ll be overridden. “
It's almost like they're hoping for some outside events to provide an excuse to continue delaying implementation of the law and Court orders.

How 49 other states can have concealed carry and do well with it but it won't work for Illinois is beyond me.
Another delay for Illinois concealed-carry= more time for local governments to get "assault weapon" bans on their books.

I'm thinking that about ten minutes after it's signed into law, a couple of the home-rule cities Mad-Goon and Mini-Mad have in their pockets will file a constitutional challenge. What's a federal judge to do when there's a state case pending? Feds will back down (and be off the hook,along with the Mads) and the challenge will drag on and on...motion after foot-dragging motion...

Yes, Obama will just wave his magic wand and - poof - change term limits. All by himself, he will repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution and declare himself 'Dear Leader'.

Our Courts are a Joke. This is like probation, probation, last warning probation, for sure the last probation, super secret probation, etc, etc......
