Black Helicopters
- U.S. military personnel are conducting training exercises in and around Chicago through Thrusday, including flying military helicopters in areas around downtown at night.
City agencies are providing support for the “routine military training exercises,” according to a release from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
Monday night, many Chicagoans wondered what military helicopters were doing downtown. They are part of the training exercises, a spokeswoman for the office said.
Military personnel including soldiers from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment--who fly and support military helicopters and specialize in nighttime operations—are among those involved in the “realistic urban training,” said a spokeswoman for the 160th, which is headquartered in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The exercises also include other units under the U.S. Special Operations Command, based at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.
We can only hope a huge "wilding" crowd gathers the next couple of nights downtown and gets jumped by an entire regiment of USSOCCOM soldiers leaping out of helicopters.

i was at Dominick's 1300 s Canal 22 July 2100 and a Blackhawk flew by did a circle. You cannot see them from ground with exception of their marker lights........very intimidating...................F-U Taliban..... I can imagine your last imagine before u see allah now

America 'bombs' the Great Barrier Reef in training exercise that went wrong
Australia has reacted with anger after American fighter jets suffered difficulties and dropped their bombs on the Great Barrier Reef.
The pilots of the two Harrier planes had intended to drop their four bombs, weighing a total of 4,000 lbs, on the Townshend Island bombing range, near Rockhampton in Queensland. But they were forced to abort their mission when the island was not cleared, and, low on fuel and unable to land with their bombs, they jettisoned them into the sea.
“Have we gone completely mad?” said Larissa Waters, the Green Party’s spokesman on the Great Barrier Reef. She described the dumping of the bombs as “outrageous”.
“Is this how we look after our World Heritage area now? Letting a foreign power drop bombs on it?”
The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest living structure - a coral reef stretching for 1,500 miles along the Australian coastline. It is home to 1625 types of fish, and more than 30 species of whales and dolphins.
Russell Reichelt, chairman of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, said the four ten-foot bombs would be retrieved by divers....

There are large areas of US airspace set aside for military purposes.
These so-called "routine exercises" are being done at night at unusual altitudes and patterns not normally traveled AND THEY HAD THEIR ANTI-COLLISION LIGHTS TURNED OFF during portions of the exercises.
To the so-called leaders of the city that approved this I would say "You don't know what you don't know" if you think that it was a smart and safe thing to do.
FAA TFR or no TFR I don't like it.

I live a short distance from Mo-nique the gossiper. At about ten last night my house shook. I thought we were having an earthquake and then the sound of a helicopter buzzing by overhead. It was a creepy, powerful sound and flying low. Now after reading the news and your column I know exactly what it was. I hope they buzzed her house real good.

I watched both.

Ok of the subject but a very important one is how management is making patrol officers miserable in the districts. Take for instance the 006th district, obviously not the hottest district in the city to work for. Bosses are beyond terrible including there commander. If people get a chance to bid out do it asap its just a very miserable district to work for. And were not even talking about the gangsters on the street were talking about the misearable environment the bosses there have created! and to the medical "ABUSERS" just "FU" you really are putting a dent on this department staff issue, I hope you get fired and sued you bastards! what you all do affects your co-workers too.

The "training exercises" are to prepare for the day when pensioners are told they are going to get .11 cents on the dollar for their hard earned pensions; cops won't shoot at retired cops so the Man needs the army to step in. The city is broke, the state is broke, the federal government is broke, and pensions are due all over the country, not just in Chicago; you either have order or you don't, so someone has to step in to maintain the "peace". Now if we get rid of guns and "stand your ground" laws there won't be any need for the Army to land in our laps, we can just retreat and take what the Man gives us.

The "bombs" dropped on the Great barrier Reef did not explode!! They were inert training bombs and caused no damage whatsoever....but it made a good newspaper story.
160th SOAR = Knight Stalkers. These guys are some of the best helicopter pilots in the world...if not the best. These are the guys who fly SEAL/Delta teams.

I always heard it was an extended police family that ran the place and employed off duty PO's. I never knew the actual names. I believe they are HQ's out north of North Ave on Thatcher or 1st Ave somewhere near Franklin Park or Elmwood Park.

Probably because it's definitely not the first time it has happened? Every dork downtown complained about one of these training sessions a couple years ago, and I watched them do this while eating a polish at Jim's Original (1200 S Union).

I remember about 15 years ago, sitting on the edge of a 160th backhawk on the way out to a jump, the load master told us "I hope you don't get scared, we will be flying low and fast."
He wasn't kidding. I had to take off my boots after the jump to get the pine needles out.
They don't just "practice" they are doing this for a purpose, I don't believe the military would listen to barry and use force against it's own people because their families are amongst us also. I do believe something is up though.

It's actually 1,000 per bomb, and the damage would be minimal at best. These are inert warheads. Designed to give the pilot a realistic feel of the weight and usage of them.
Poor barrier reef. Now the tinhats saying 160TH SOAR is prepping to invade Chicago.
Try the most highly vetted Army Rotary Aviators currently in service to your country. Also, don't forget about JTRRS (datalink) which lets you know where your buddies are. No need for lights. No need to follow FAA ceiling because Chi is a NFZ.

you got me, after being out of the service for 15 years i got my terminology mixed up.
There's been a lot of this lately. The was a special forces operation in Plainville, MA, a town of about 10,000.
The conspiracy theorist in me says they are preparing in case of martial law.
One time I was on a jump and got way too low. I was picking pine needles out of my ass.
