Assailant Charged
- The uniformed Chicago Police officer who was viciously beaten by a baseball bat wielding man was trying save a woman from being hit by the man when he was whacked in the Englewood neighborhood over the weekend, Cook County prosecutors said.
When the officer tried to come to the aide of the woman who was allegedly being hit by Tythia Thigpen in the 5700 block of South Winchester, Thigpen took his bat and went after the cop early Saturday morning, Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said.
Thigpen, 29, hit the cop twice in the head and was heard saying “f--- it” before he struck the officer again, Pillsbury said.
When other officers arrived at the scene, they found the beaten cop lying face down on the concrete in a pool of blood desperately trying to stay conscious, Pillsbury said.
The officer went into a seizure when he was being rushed to Stroger Hospital.
He suffered blunt trauma to the head, a brain bleed and bruised ribs, Pillsbury said.
The officer continues to improve slowly. Well done to the investigating/arresting officers and detectives.

I agree! Let's see how hard they go after this offender. My guess is he will be given five years. Five years for trying to kill a Chicago Police officer. My only regret is that this asshole wasn't shot.

Went to visit the injured P.O. who is doing a little better considering. He asked me to give a big Thank You to the female P.O. Officer A.B. who assisted him medically on the scene. If it wasn't for her help in stemming his head bleeding the Doctors said he would have been in worse shape.
All we have is each other out there. Remember That.
He will be going thru a long process before being able to come back.

When the shitheads are beating each other up, your job is to pull out the tape for the crime scene. Do not get involved in their savagery. This is what happens and you and your family will suffer. There is absolutely no respect for the law and the police, those days are long gone. I pray the officer fully recovers.

I concur. Its because, it doesn't affect most anyone, and they cant bitch about it, so no one cares. It really is sad. Everyone pretends to be sad, and judges this poor guy(just like the media) when they weren't there, but beyond that its business as usual for most. Like I always preach, most Chicago coppers care about one person, and thats them. Its a sad state of affairs, hopefully, at least the guys in 007 are giving that block hell.

And both of you post nothing of value on the topic, either. Did either one of you even thing to wish the officer well? Did you mention prayers for the family and for his recovery? No, you just come here to bitch about some perceived slight.
To get back on topic, best wishes for a full recovery officer. Your wife was very nice to post an update and gracious to thank everyone for their concern.
