Guess Who Was Out on Bail?
- A 15-year-old boy jumped from his bike and opened fire after a passenger in a car issued an apparent taunt, but the bullets struck a 7-year-old child who had just returned from riding bikes with his cousin, authorities and family said Tuesday.
Cook County prosecutors said Lavante Jackson was tied to the Sunday night shooting on the West Side by two eyewitnesses and the GPS bracelet he was wearing as part of his bail on juvenile drug charges.
At a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, Jackson appeared dazed as Judge Donald Panarese Jr. had to repeat his name twice before the defendant acknowledged it was him. Jackson was charged as an adult with aggravated battery with a gun.

- "He's not a bad kid," Jackson's mother, Erika, said while sobbing outside court.
Except for the fact he illegally obtained a gun, was blasting away at a vehicle in the hood and managed to nail a 7-year-old who had nothing to do with any of it. Other than that, we're sure he's a paragon of virtue in his school, church and community....oh, and that drug dealing charge he originally made bail on.

- His mother repeatedly expressed sympathy for Tyvion's family for the shooting but said she could not believe her son fired a gun in a neighborhood filled with his friends.
"He just lost his best friend over there," she told reporters. "He got it tattooed on his forehead, on his face."
Court records show Jackson has a tattoo near his right eye that reads "RIP" and another near his left eye that reads "Tonio."

I don't always agree with you, but the last couple of sentences were right on the money. A lot of people in this country had better take a good look at this kid(?) and wake up. But,alas, I fear it's already too late.

But he is a good kid, right? reminds me of the kid we popped for robbery, had a tat that said "money over bitches", thats a normal tat for a 15 year old to have. I'm sure his mom took him to get it.........He is preparing himself to be a an asset to society.

Honestly what do you expect? The criminal court system here is a total joke- and that's just for the adults. Now look at the juvenile court system for another laugh. Judges kiss these delinquents' and their parents' asses, and apparently they've taken a liking to the taste of dirty ghetto ass because the coddling and excuses never stop for these welfare breeders and their litters of future CB numbers. How many rules does a kid have to break before any consequence sets in? Warnings, probation, supervision, counseling, anger management - this is the best these useless fools can ever do to teach these ghetto brats a lesson. Then people wonder why we have so many jagoffs in the prison system- offenders see how soft these judges are and learn that it's all a joke, so why stop when crime pays?!? And that kid's mother- what's she smoking? What kind of mother thinks it's ok for her 15 y.o. son to tattoo his face, or any other body part for that matter?? What else does she allow her kid to do? Now if Zimmerman was passing through Chicago and happened upon LaVontray it would be a different story for The Oprah & Friends to sob for. Same goes for the Australian athlete training in Oklahoma...no big Oprah Jessie Stevie Wonder tender moment or boycotts.
