400K for Sgt's Carjacker
- A judge set bail at $400,000 today for a man accused of carjacking an off-duty Chicago police sergeant on Sept. 6 in the South Shore neighborhood.
Christopher D. Jones, 19, of the 1300 block of East 69th Street, was charged with vehicular hijacking, vehicular invasion, and aggravated battery for the carjacking, police said.
Jones is also facing theft and burglary charges for three unrelated crimes that happened Sept. 12 and Aug. 25 on the South Side.
Nice work getting identifiable prints to ID this asshole.

3 VS. 1 BEATING: 21 Minute Response Time
As if seven robberies weren't enough--and, really, shouldn't seven robberies be enough?--citizens reported a number of beatings and fights overnight that simply could not be responded to in a timely fashion.
The most frustrating of these to CWB occurred around 2:20AM at Halsted and Roscoe. A caller reported three males "beating up another kid" on the street. The attackers escaped southbound in the alley.
Unit #1913, which is normally assigned to patrol the far north side of the district, between Lawrence and Montrose, was the nearest available unit.
Minutes later, a witness called 911 again to say that he had located the attackers near Belmont and Halsted. The caller said he was following the offenders on his bike and he would direct police to them.
Unit 1913 arrived around 2:41AM, 21 minutes after the call was dispatched. Needless to say, they could not find anyone.
Dispatchers called the bicyclist who had been following the offenders. He said he had given up.
No report. No crime.

Maybe the Mayor should declare the worst and most dangerous parts of Chicago to be Gun-Free Zones. That should reduce gun violence in itself. Gun Free Zones work elsewhere.

Why not just have police officers put a special light in front of their home? In places like 016, that's probably the only way to find the police.

You also receive multiple dicks do follow up on that burglary.

bomb threats all over the city yesterday--- sgt requests bomb dogs and is told that they only have them at airport and none are available--- one of the largest cities in the world which is a prime target for a terrorist attack and not one dog available to come and do a search....

Strip the few remaining Police from taxpaying areas while tax-absorbing areas have Policemen driving around in boxes and bumping into each other to keep the "Catered To Constituents" from flat out cannibalizing each other.

Yeah, but how many jobs do they actually take? When you request one, the sgt gets on the air and says "do you have an arrest" or "we don't come out for that".
I don't get it... This amount is less than the shooter in wicker park... Shouldn't it be reversed?? More I know & learn how the various levels of criminal justice do not work together, more I'm questioning where do I look for a job what I believe in?

What happened to Marie's Riptide? I haven't been there in years but this was a locale that I frequented many moons ago on a fairly regular basis. I drove by there today and it is gone, all boarded up, sign gone,etc. Did Marie pass away?
