The Mayor is Safe!!!
We know that everyone was worried, what with all the sensitive contract negotiations, red light/speeding cameras and pending pension reform on the horizon. We can't really summarize it adequately, so we'll lift the post in its entirety. Apologies to the guys over at CrimeInBoystown:
- The 19th district ran out of cops again, entering "Radio Assignment Pending" status at 2:43 this morning. The RAP was lifted at 6:18AM.
Six of the district's 15 police beats did not have cars assigned to them, according to an online report. Who makes the schedule around here? You're having people robbed and beaten every Friday and Saturday night for months, if not years, yet they decide a Friday night is the right time to have nearly 50% of the district's beat cars unmanned?
It actually seems like the 19th district leadership intentionally understaffs busy nights in order to reduce the number of officers available to record the crap that is going on.
And then, there's this:
While common citizens were being robbed and enduring long waits for the police, one 19th district resident enjoyed premium police service.
At 4:06AM, a 19th district car that is assigned to park in the alley behind Mayor Rahm Emanuel's home reported "suspicious activity."
A white male walked through a gate a couple of doors away. The officer reported that the man was "knocking on a door, coughing and stuff."
Within 45 seconds, another police unit was told to go to the mayor's alley to help deal with the "suspicious man." At the same time another 19th district car that is assigned to the mayor's house also moved in on the suspicious man.
Friends, neighbors, you can relax. The mayor is safe. The "suspicious man" was setting up for a Saturday morning yard sale. Don't you beating victims feel stupid for trying to suck police protection away from important matters like suspicious yard sale set-up?
Meanwhile, up in 016, a green van is abducting and raping 12-year-old girls and attempting to kidnap boys, too. But Rahm is safe from someone setting up a yard sale - we sure hope that Revenue showed up to check the permits for that event.

Not a joking matter. The Mayor's safety is of paramount importance to the CPD. Not only is he our mayor and boss, but he is a potential future president of the U.S. and a great humanitarian. Kudos, to the guys on night mayor watch.

If you really feel it's important for CPD to expend extra resources to keep Rahm safe because he is the boss, I think it would only make sense he would be going out of his way to make sure his boss, the citizens of Chicago are just as safe. We are his boss, he works because he was hired by the citizens. Mr Emanuel you are failing at you job. When the employee becomes more important then the boss, the employee must go!

Pam Zekman , John Kass , Chuck Goudie look into this , I have the feeling that commander has police officers working (assigned ) inside doing little (check swipe times) bwahaha they don't swipe. More police officers are working inside that could man all the beat cars on 1st watch .
Every district commander hides sworn clerical , foot officers that could man cars in busy districts , look at activity of police officers assigned to 2nd watch , many have zero , because they are office cowards.
Here's an idea , adjust hours of tactical teams , let them work in uniform in a beat car from 2000 to 0500 hrs . Make sure they swipe in and out .
Meanwhile resources are being stripped from tax-providing areas send to areas where few give a fuck about anything except the next check we give them. To appeases their political pimps.

16 is safe. They brought in the ISP. There were about 20 ISP cars outside the station at 0600 today. Don't know what is going on there but usually there is only 1 ISP car there.
I can't get to sleep unless I know Emperor Rahm is safe, tucked between the sheets.

My first sgt's test, I was denied time due and worked mids, then went to the test.

SCC, U do realize that the 019TH District X/O chooses his own for that detail. When it 1st started it was a place for punishment. That's B4 the merge when there was only an A car and a B car. X/O Erwin Rommel that Eli is stuck with must really suck. He texts the W/S at absurd hours of the nite just to control the sheets. It took that bonehead to realize that "The Principle's Detail" was a jelly job. When C/O Kenny was the Boss of 019 there was a big deal that occurred at the detail. The current X/O used the word Copasetic when addressing then C/O Kenny, but said Copastetic. Kenny rolled his eyes, excused himself to check on one of his injured troops at the hospital, and probably thought to himself "what a simple son of a bitch!"

Peeps in 019 R taken advantage of about the concept of a RAP. A lot of 019th district personnel have never worked in the lower economically developed neighborhoods where the radio doesn't stop. U'r 2 15 min breaks R 4 pulling the zipper down and draining it. U walk into the tour on a RAP & busting your ass U leave on a RAP. Once that zipper goes up the radio wants you. 30 minute lunches go by in what seems like 5 minutes. This district, as long as "Iron Mike" has it will deter.
Mike Ryan is NOT an administrator. The Coppers who knew him from both sides of the City have the same description of him as a patrolmen.....DOG ASS.

Way to cherrypick your numbers there, Kristina. I call Bullspit. I have teachers in my family including my wife who is retiring with 28 years in and will pull down a pernsion of about $40k when she can actually start taking her pension at age 60. With what she's gone through in SS high schools those 28 years she deserves a crapload more. Chicago teachers get PTSD - they should get combat pay.
Don't know what North Shore enclave you're pulling statistics from but here in the City normal teachers don't get big buck pensions. Is $40k a year nice? Hell yeah we'll take it but there's no social security, we have to cover her health insurance, and the benefits in retirement are getting leaner thanks to Rahm and his crap.

You have a fancy title! Good for you. The sad truth is it is only a problem because you believe it is. You can throw numbers and figures all day, but they are not factual. We were promised this pension and we (all city depts-especially CPD CFD AND CPS) because we have to deal with people and "serve" them for 30 years. My biggest beef is that even up to 5 years ago, nobody wanted our jobs because they dont pay enough.
Well, let me tell you, it takes a certain kind of person who decides to make their career out of serving their community. Because we do, we receive a pension based off tax dollars from the people we serve. No big salaries for thirty years is the trade off for a little piece of mind between retiring and dying.
Private companies serve themselves and turn profit. That is their lot in the world. Without them, we all couldn't exist. They match employee contributions, we have pensions.
Private companies do outreach and sponsor charities, but that is extra.
Get down here in the trenches with us for 30 years and lets see how sane you remain.

SCC, U do realize that the 019TH District X/O chooses his own for that detail. When it 1st started it was a place for punishment. That's B4 the merge when there was only an A car and a B car. X/O Erwin Rommel that Eli is stuck with must really suck. He texts the W/S at absurd hours of the nite just to control the sheets. It took that bonehead to realize that "The Principle's Detail" was a jelly job. When C/O Kenny was the Boss of 019 there was a big deal that occurred at the detail. The current X/O used the word Copasetic when addressing then C/O Kenny, but said Copastetic. Kenny rolled his eyes, excused himself to check on one of his injured troops at the hospital, and probably thought to himself "what a simple son of a bitch!"

The 019 XO is a sad, old man who has only his rank to bully people around. After he retires, see how many people who had to work under him say hi to him on the street. Most, if not all, will be giving him a one finger wave. What a legacy for him to leave behind. His family must be so proud of such an honorable and well respected man. Continue treating people like you have for your whole career so you can feel better about yourself. By the way boss, if you want to be a respond to jobs and stir up calls, go to the Super and ask to be demoted back to a blue shirt.

It's hard to believe his clout is another greek. That's so unheard of. Hahahah! I can say this is the worst I have seen 019/023 in all my years. This guy has lost the repect of the majoriety of the personel their in all ranks. Poor leader.
Ahhhhh, XO mike Ryan, as a PO never did too much, never did too little, just stayed in the middle, just average at best. But as an XO you would think he is a one man tact team with his commentary on how every copper in 019 is the biggest dog he ever met. If we didnt have such a rotten miserable xo there would only be stories of our jagoff mayor who lives in 019 and has more police service then the president. If you took away his crew 016 would be at full manpower and if you threw in the entertainment,robbery, burglary,quality of life teams

Under Kenny, after twenty-two officers and supervisors went in for interviews, Deloughery was moved out of the district. No dc wants a Federal hostile work environment lawsuit, which was the next step planned at that time. Maybe it's time for all of you to get together, off duty, and make a plan and stick together. Whether it's a grievance, a City case or a Federal one, start it, stay with it and see it through to the end. Document, document, document.
