There Goes Another Few $100,000

They seem to have no actual grasp of the law, nor how it applies to them and their actions:
  • The City Council moved Wednesday to both comply with — and undermine Illinois’ new concealed carry law.

The end-run around concealed carry came when aldermen imposed a requirement that Chicago restaurants that serve liquor ban firearms or lose their city licenses.

The ordinance championed by Finance Chairman Edward M. Burke (14th) and downtown Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) would exempt stores that sell packaged liquor.

But all other establishments that serve alcohol — not just bars that generate more than half their revenue from liquor — would be required to prohibit firearms on the premises.
This reeks of political blackmail, unduly interferes in the running of one's business and is in direct conflict with the State law that took away the "home rule" powers of municipalities to place additional restriction on laws pertaining to guns.

The NRA will most likely sue over this provision, relying heavily on past precedent, and will walk away with another one of those giant novelty checks numbering in the 6-digits or more. Thanks again you sanctimonious assholes.

once again, our fucking money is getting pissed away by clueless, grandstanding politicians.

and the gun grabbers will condone this, even though they know it is a lost cause.

Houston (same size as Chicago) has both open and concealed carry, one can buy a firearm and/or ammo in one of hundreds of stores inside the city limits.

Yet, the homicide rate is about 1/ that of Chicago--any gun grabber care to explain how that can be?

Didn't think so.

(gotta say it) Riley's watched too 'Cowboy Movies' -- and apparently thinks they were documentaries.
-- 1) 'During the Wild West'. I have no idea of what he's getting at with that. But basically the 'Wild West' was from post Civil War 1865 to 1900. And depending when or where the 'Wild West' could just be the other side of the Mississippi River.
-- 2) 'Everyone and their brother' did NOT carry a loaded firearm on their hip. That's why the 1873 Winchester got the moniker 'The Gun That Won The West'. Though I like the 1866 Yellow Boy...it's 'purty' (the 44 Henry chambering was a drawback after 1873).
-- 3) 'Saloon Keepers & No Guns'. Okey-dokey, two word answer: Bull Shit. It's Hollywood fantasy, embellishment, half truths, and outright lies. Mostly taken from real early 'Cattle Town' days of Dodge City and embellished from there by Hollywood to make nice shoot-em pics. And mr Alder-creature, if all Saloons in the 'Wild West' banned handguns, James Butler Hickok would have lived a lot longer(/s).
----- 3a) Tombstone, AZ did have a local ordinance that 'banned Handguns' -- Just Like Chicago ;-) -- that 'partially' led to the Earp - Clanton gunfight next to the OK Coral (Clantons were open carrying on purpose to start some sh-t)

The fact is 'Gun Control' in 'The Wild West' was basically non-existent. The gun was a necessary tool of survival, be it handgun or rifle, and nobody would dare take that tool away. The 'Wild West' was also statistically safer (Hostile Indians Excluded) than any major city of the time, or of today. (I was born exactly 100 years too late)

The case reports (and they WILL be plentiful behind this stupid shit, just like the new "Super 019th" is being wallpapered according to the comments) will read like excerpts from a ghetto romance novel...

*Victim states, "My ass is sore, my head hurts, my money is gone and he slapped me in my eye."*

Smart people WILL refuse to be easy victims and stay the fuck away from these places with the *Please Rob Us!* signage PROMINENTLY posted.

Egad...

Dude is going to have a fucking ball running this intentionally depleted Police Department in circles...

Burke and Reilly are pushing this dead dog of an ordinance out of spite and ego.

Face it you busters!
Chicago lost!

Chicago's anti-gun ordinances had EVERYTHING to do with keeping the citizens unarmed and defenseless in the face of political fuckery and organized crime.

Pay no attention to these death cults operating with impunity on the West and South Sides...

Houston's homicide rate is 1/2 of Chicago's because Houston isn't a city in the way Chicago is; Houston owes all of it's population to the fact that it just gobbles up and annexes suburbs as they are developed. The city of Houston is about 3x larger physically than Chicago (Chicago covers about 230 sq. miles, Houston covers about 650). Imagine what Chicago's homicide rate would look like if we could annex all of NW suburban Cook Co. or DuPage County?

I think it is high time that Aldercreature Burke gives up his City paid security force and takes his chances like regular citizens. As reported that he currently conceal carries, stop with your BS pontificating on how this new law will enhance the protection of the citizens. He, Rahm, McCarthy, reverends, community activists, etc. can't stand the idea that Illinois citizens soon will be able to conceal carry and have the ability to shoot back at the criminal mutts that they portend to represent. Burke makes millions as a property tax attorney taking a percentage of the tax savings. Let him pay for his own GD security.

Respectfully, Paul Kersey.

Illinois Supreme Court Rules Right to Keep and Bear Arms Extends Outside the Home

As the Seventh Circuit correctly noted, neither Heller nor McDonald expressly limits the second

amendment’s protections to the home. On the contrary both decisions contain language strongly

suggesting if not outright confirming that the second amendment right to keep and bear arms

extends beyond the home. Moreover, if Heller means what it says, and “individual self-defense” is

indeed “the central component” of the second amendment right to keep and bear arms (Heller, 554 U.S. at 599), then it would make little sense to restrict that right to the home, as “[c]onfrontations are not limited to the home.” Moore, 702 F.3d at 935-36. Indeed, Heller itself recognizes as much when it states that “the right to have arms *** was by the time of the founding understood to be an individual right protecting against both public and private violence.” Heller, 554 U.S. at 593-94

Dear Friend:
YES, they ARE that incompetent. Part of "The Chicago Way" means these dumb-ass aldercreatures are so full of themselves, that they can disregard Federal Law (the 28-year un-Constitutional Chicago gun-ban). So, since they got away with violating Federal Law for 28 years, why not try violating State Law? The State Law is VERY CLEAR that it is not subject to Chicago's bullshit "home-rule" ideas. So, the dumb-ass aldercreatures will pass an ordinance that violates State Law anyway. Why? Pure Hubris. In the end, the NRA will justifiably win whatever legal action they take, and the City will have to pay the NRA's legal costs, for a SECOND time.

Why can't these aldercreatures just move to Communist China where they can experience their dream-come-true: an environment where the government has total control over everything, and the people have no say whatsoever!

Was at former Chief of Det's Tom Byrnes retirement event (Stadium Club U.S.Cellular Field) which was very well attended and the beer-wine-drinks flowed copiously during a great party. Among many well wishers was Alderman Edward Burke himself. I don't know if he had a drink but of the 100's of other attendees (many of whom were armed) there was not one bit of trouble. So in the future, affairs like this or just taking your wife, family, etc. out to dinner even without having a glass of wine or a beer will be out of the question while exercising your 2nd Ammendment rights and the concealed carry laws of Illinois. Law abiding adults are again subjected to the willful caprice of politicians who are addicted to the arrogant excercise of their personal whims. There are plenty of places to eat in the suburbs, use your economic clout to vote for what is right, legal, and plain common sense.
