Question for the Statistic Keepers

  • A Kenosha man has been charged with first-degree homicide in the death of his girlfriend, who was found over the weekend in a car trunk near the Greyhound station in the South Loop.

  • An autopsy showed she had died of blunt neck trauma caused by an assault. Police said they believe Ziemendorf died in Kenosha and was driven to Chicago.
So is someone trying to make sure this is counted as a Wisconsin homicide? Or are we counting it here? Because as a commentator pointed out, it was just a month or so ago that two bodies were found in a suburban forest preserve and the killer admitted that he murdered the ladies in Chicago, but you won't find those numbers in the Chicago totals. It would be awfully suspicious if Rahm and McCrimeIsDown were actively shipping murders out of the city limits.

I remember several years ago a po on viewed one car load of gangbangers shooting at another car load. Both cars end up wrecked on Pulaski and a bicyclist is killed. At least 3 bangers were dead and biker makes 4. Major accidents wanted them classified as homicides, A5 commander shows up at 3am begging to have them listed as traffic related. Since no gun was recovered to prove it was gang related, voilà, no homicides.

Be fair. Give Chicago credit for the dirty deed. Hey the city is chasing a record and needs every body it can claim.

Hi! It's me again, Police Superintendent Garry Mc Twitter!

"Hey SCC, ol' buddy-o-buddy. I need a favor from you. Remember those two stiffs found out in the suburban forest preserves a while ago? You do? Great! I need for you to a keep a little secret: those two bodies weren't counted as homicides in the eighth district! That's right, they're not counted as Chicago homicides! Is that great or what?!?!? I mean, just how brilliant will Rahm think I am after making those two homicides disappear into thin air?!?!? :D. Rahm's going to nickname me 'Mc Houdini'! Isn't that a gas! He really likes my McCompstat numbers crunching and wishes he had a system like mine to make the city financial problems go away!!"
"What's that? You're posting the homicides to your blog? Why man? I thought we were Schlitz beer drinking buddies! Heck, I taught you how to shoot out a street light last week! What's that? You're saying we're not buddies? You'll drink beer with anybody as long as its free? Well fuck you SCC! I only break out my stash of Schlitz for my friends! No more Schlitz's for you!"
"What's that? You're blogging about the homicide near the Greyhound station. Oh come on man, don't do that, I can't take the heat from Rahm. He's going to call me into the 5th floor and scream about the homicide rate again. Do you have any idea what I go through during these meetings? He's ranting and raving about murders while waving his hands in the air. I keep focusing on the hand with the partially cut off finger. It freaks me out. After watching Rahm wave that hand around for half an hour, I'm cross-eyed for a week. By the way, that finger isn't from a slicer accident at an Arby's restaurant. That finger is some serious Yakuza shit. I think Rahm might be a Jap in disguise."

Don't you mean the "Bronx Bulldog"…..Sneed has had that in her column a few times now. Apparently McFly gave himself a nickname and Sneed is trying to help him spread it to the public. Maybe Sneed doesn't realize the rank and file officers think McFly is a walking dildo

This is just one of the ways they play games with numbers. Here are more; if five people are shot, the city only counts them as one shooting. If someone dies under suspicious circumstances then often it's a pending death investigation and it gives them time to come up with a plausible explanation on how it was inadvertent or an intentional suicide.

Sneed knows all of that. She even knows all of the shady things that go on in the city. But like her other media counterparts, she just keeps her mouth shut and reports on "scoops" and "tidbits" but nothing that would actually make a difference.

Body found here it's Chicago's. If it's found outside of town not ours. Crazy exceptions are if it happened on the expressways it's not ours. If it happened on railroad property it's not ours, if it happens in a Forrest preserve it's not ours. Even if those locations are in Chicago. There are about 5-10 homicides a year that should belong to us.

All of them as far as I am concerned. Most just have not been formally convicted

SCC - We're not counting this one because it's our understanding that the act occurred in Wisconsin. The Sun-Times isn't counting it either, but the Redeye is.

The two bodies in a burning car in a forest preserve incident does count towards Chicago since the murders took place in Garfield Ridge.

It should count as ours because they are totalled on where the body lands.

McManipulator of numbers has come up with 3 ways to not count homicides.

1. The two bodies from 008 that were dumped in the suburbs...just ignore them since the suburbs are prosecuting even though place of death was established in Chicago by the confessions. Hoping nobody will notice because the suburbs are prosecuting. Direct violation of UCR (just google Federal UCR).

2. Self defense or mutual combatants are now ruled "justifiable homicides" which are not counted in the stats. Blatant violation of UCR.

3. Delay classifying death investigations as homicides by putting them in a newly created category of "Not yet determined".

It will be interesting to see who McManipulator will throw under the bus for this little scandal.

Generally, yes. UNLESS and until investigation determines that the crime occurred elsewhere.

Not 100% true. If you can determine where the murder occured then it belongs to that jurisdiction

Super was schooled in Chicago style politics and the city council today. He totally lost his temper and looked like a clown. Go back to the east coast where your childish behavior and outbursts are normal McTantrum. Our Alderasses don't care if you think you are G-ds gift to policing. When EW is telling you to calm down, your days are numbered.

Why not? Years ago we would ship piss bums and anything else we could fit in a railroad box car off to Nebraska or Kansas or the west coast. It was customary to push a floater down the river or across the river or North of Howard St.

That would be a trick used by many police departments. Nothing new.
