Comedy Gold

  • Pam Kehaly, president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, said she received a recent letter from a young woman complaining about a 50% rate hike related to the healthcare law.

"She said, 'I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,'" Kehaly said.
This after California health care companies announced that they are canceling the policies for over 279,000 people and that number may rise to over 500,000 shortly.

If only someone had been there to warn everyone about what was coming, you know, to be the adult and point out the shoddy accounting and economic impossibilities of this entire disaster.

These scare tactic news reports about huge heakth insurance premium increases are on the same par as Stupidintendant McCarthy and Msyor Princesses crime rate statistics manipulation: they are almost 100% without basis.

The cancellations and large increases are coming primarily from the cancellation and/or replacements of "junk policies" which provided little to no coverage in the first place.

They are also comibg from the manditory replacement of policies which do not oeovide the now nandated coverages - which is why they were so cheap to begin with.,

Consumer Reports has an excellent and completely anonymous tool, located at: https://www.healthlawhelper.org/, which can help determine what, if any, changes will be required to any current insurance.

They also have some great tools to help those eligible for Medicare determine when to add or modify their coveragecto get the best venefits at the lowest cost - without penalty, because not taking parys of Medicare coverages at thexright tine can incur some costly and permanent surcharges.

No system is perfect, but the Affordibke Healthcare Act will, if allowed, truly level both the benefits provided by the policies and the costs charged.

In many cases, while the actual pilicy charges may be higher, they will so significantly offset by lowered or eliminated copay costs as to actually provide an overall lower annual cost of insurance.

Additionally, all policies will have the same base of benefits included in the packages.

It's high time the liberal boomers grew up.
Obama care is the cure for a demographic collapse and the end of the social security ponzi scheme.
The music will soon stop and many will find themselves without a seat, probably for the first time in their lives.
This generation enjoyed the best this country had to offer. ....their end will be a stark contrast.

What really, really pisses me off is the thought of all the money the G is going to throw at this law in order to "fix" it.

It'll be the same, shitty patchwork of conflicting law that Social Security and VA health coverage are.

Ms. Pelosi, you've got to READ it to see what's in it.

Long before the "Affordable" Health Care Act became law, there was a popular bumper sticker that read;

"If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it's free"

Prophetic.

You sir are a true believer. I believe that the private free marketplace can better solve our problems. If the law is so great and so wonderful, then why are we forced/mandated into it? If the law is so wonderful then why are members of Congress exempt from it and get a subsidy to choose their plans? If you have to pay $6900 for your plan, you have to pay for it. But members of Congress get a subsidy to pay for their plan. People like you will never learn.

The first post is most likely a paid troll. Comments like that are showing up on other blogs and websites, when obamacare is discussed.
There is no basis in reality in that comment. Across the board people are having their policies cancelled because they don't comply with the new federal standard. More policies have been cancelled than bought on the exchanges. People's premiums and deductibles are dramatically increasing.

Right now we are insulated from the increases, because the employer mandate was delayed a year. Know this, our healthcare will rise next year when the delay expires.

Without basis !?!?!?!

You Sir, are one clueless dolt.

Healthcare premiums ARE going up BIG TIME. Our Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO premium for wife and I is going up $1,000 a year for next year(that we have to pick up). We just got the package options and their pricings.

It is the same coverage we have this year - only it is MORE expensive. (our part of the monthly premiums were already over $425 a month this year)

What do YOU pay monthly for healthcare coverage?

If you get your healthcare/ medical coverage picked up by the city and only pay some minimal monthly fee be thankful. Be VERY thankful because it is a LOT of money for premiums for decent coverage.

You have no clue on what you are talking about - all I know is my rate is going up substantially for good coverage.

Why? Because someone has to pick up the slack for everyone that they want to put on "free" healthcare. Nothing is free.

AND - - our "average" healthcare costs are not going down $2500 a year as was promised at the beginning of this great healthcare fiasco.

SO get some facts before spewing BS on this blog.

Baloney sausage.

Your so-called "junk" policies are what the previously insured had deliberately chosen in order to minimize their premium costs. These include such plans as catastrophic only coverage and high deductible plans.

Now those with canceled individual plans will be forced onto the exchanges to buy more insurance than they need or can afford.

To paraphrase a certain political mantra, they didn't get healthy on their own; it was the government that did that. So now they must pay.

We are healthy and never meet our deductable with less than $200 in health care per year. The cancellation letters came from BCBS and United Healthcare, hardly crap plans, just higher deductable and out of pocket max. We go from a plan that we like but is barely affordable to something we hate or can't afford. Thanks a lot Barry and crew. I say no waivers, no delays. it's considered a cadillac plan so in order to avoid the 10k tax starting in 2018 for per covered person they are stepping down coverage every year till 2018.

next year $250 deduct, 3k out of pocket, 20% in network, drug coverage and specialists are now 20% of total cost no copay.

by 2018 the plan will be 2k deductible, 10k deductible, 40% in network, 40% for drugs and specialists

Additionally, all policies will have the same base of benefits included in the packages.

Wow SCC. Now the President is even on your site.

Obamacare is predicated on the fantasy that younger, healthier people will sign up in droves and not use the system. They will not. Make any excuse you want but healthcare costs have skyrocketed because of this Act and people are loosing their current coverage.

It is taking money from hardworking Americans and giving it to people that do not work plain and simple. Very few deserving people will be helped compared to the number of good people that will be fleeced.

This is redistribution of wealth in a way that the founding fathers would find reprehensible.

His intentions were never hidden so he can honestly say he didn't lie. WTF did the dummy's who voted for him think he meant by "fundamentally changing America?" Fundamental-forming a necessary base or core; of central importance. By changing the fundamentals of our country he can rewrite the American way of life as he sees fit. It was all right there in the open. But the thought of "being part of history by voting for the first black president", along with white guilt, clouded their vision. Just like the people crying at the Grant Park celebration. Acting like the Beatles were on the stage. America. I knew Her when she was great, and I loved Her. R.I.P.

Additionally, all policies will have the same base of benefits included in the packages.

So 55yr olds and up need to have free birth control, pediatric dentistry, and maternity benefits.

OK first poster is a troll. Anyone buying individual insurance is going to pay a much higher premium. So will most people under group plans, but at a much lower % than the individual plans.

Unfortunately not everyone can buy a group plan and has to purchase an individual plan which companies are either dropping or increasing the premiums

This is not America said...
"I already had a high-deductible plan. Now I can buy a plan with double the deductible for only $200 a month more." - David Frum

I wanted to get a HSA with a $5000 deductible, after $5000 out of pocket was covered, everything is 100% - BCBSIL doesn't have anything near this for the money they were asking for.

It doesn't stop with humans, your pet gets hit with ACA prices too as the medical equipment that works for you, works for your pet too.

Seriously, Thanks Barry and Nancy for this charlie foxtrot of a law.

I'm going to get a drawer full of the new illegal alien drivers licenses and just get free medical care like Juan and Jose and Stanley and Vladimer.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-10-30/average-job-creation-cost-2013-553000

this begs the question are we sure we want the people on food stamps to 'get off their azz and go to work' when food stamps only cost the taxpayers maybe 2,400 a year per person.

The Ten US Cities With Less Than Ten Days Of Cash On Hand

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-10-29/ten-us-cities-less-ten-days-cash-hand

guess who's on the list.

in fact there are two illinois cities on the lists.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --

'...As the Detroit bankruptcy hearing heats up following news that the city's unsecured creditors, among them pensioners, are set to recover pennies on the dollar, 16 to be precise, the question of which are the next cities to follow in the footsteps of bankrupt Motown, becomes relevant once again. Courtesy of the WSJ, and the second part of its series on "U.S. Cities Grapple With Finances", here is a list of the US cities that when push comes to shove metaphorically, and when the money runs out literally, will have no choice but to knock on the door of the local regional bankruptcy court and submit that long-prepared bankruptcy petition. Specifically, here are the cities that have 10 days or less in cash on hand available. Because, unless one is the Fed, cash and lack thereof is all that matters.

The list below ranks the top 10 cities in terms of days cash on hand. Needless to say, a city with a low number in this category (such as 0.0) may have trouble paying bills, bribes, lap dances and other core municipal outlays...'

cash on hand..

springfield il. 3.1 day

chicago il. 9.7 days.

this story also shows chicago on several other lists -- that we are in the top ten..

population decline
real estate value.
debt per capita.
etc..

check it out.

When states like Illinois and California go bankrupt the Feds will bail the states out.

The great savior (the Feds) will then Nationalize Pensions. The Pensions will be cut substantially for "the greater good", collectivism.

History proves a growing Centralized Government only grows bigger and more authoritative.

This is just the beginning folks...just ask any Eastern European who just got off the boat.

I'm one of those recent retirees who is going to get stuck with Obamacare. Thank God the wife is still working, I'll just go on her insurance and actually have some decent coverage. She doesn't want to work forever though...and shouldn't have to just so the government can turn us into a socialist state...

Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Only problem you might face is that her plan which now has good benefits will see the benefits lowered and the premiums raised. That the way it seems to be going in private industry and even public works
A few comments in this blog claim benefits are lowered and out of pocket and deductibles are being raised
