Taking it Easy

A relaxing Sunday - no studying, no Bears, no pressure.

Plus, we're hung over tired....very tired from all the relaxing.

Open post in the meantime.

And be sure to stop over at Kickstarter - we wrote about Jim Mullen's efforts yesterday. Scroll down a few posts and see it or click this link RIGHT HERE to give Jim a hand up. As of tonight, he was just over halfway to his goal.

The Bears have the potential to be the greatest football teams of all time. They just have a few, I think the word is, glitches.

A silly Sunday post on 'Inspectors'
----------------------------------------------
>>>> Welcome Back Inspectors! <<<<
Personally I'm glad that McJersey brought back the rank-position of 'Inspector'. It's good for moral and good for relations with the 'community', as 'everyone' knows Police Inspector. Here's some 'famous' Police Inspectors through *history*.......
-- Inspector G. Lestrade (Scotland Yard)
-- Inspector Tobias Gregson (Scotland Yard)
-- Inspector Harry Callahan ('Go ahead, make my day')
-- Inspector Jacques Clouseau ('Cato, my little yellow friend')
-- Inspector (Chief) Charles Dreyfus ('Clouseau must die!')
-- Inspector Morse (Thames Valley Police, Oxford, UK)
-- Inspector Lewis (Thames Valley Police, Oxford, UK)
-- Inspector, Detective (DI) Edmund Reid (London PD)
-- Inspector, Detective (DI) Joseph Chandler (London MetroPD)
-- Inspector, Detective (DI) Alec Hardy (Broadchurch, UK)
-- Inspector, Detective Chief (DCI) John Luther (London MetroPD)

There's some mighty fine Inspectors there which I'm sure McCarthy figures will be a great inspiration for the new Inspectors on *his* CPD. Especially the Inspectors from England, they're British, they have to be better...just because.

But that *HIS* hand-picked Inspectors be more like Inspectors Morse, Lewis, Chandler and Reid, than the bumbling Clouseau, the clueless Lestrade and Gregson, insane Dreyfus, the rule bending-breaking Luther, and not at all like the mean as hell -- though result orientated -- Inspector Callahan (ha, imagine the Revruns if 'Dirty Harry' was on the streets). [btw, I'm gettin' a feeling McCompStat watches a lot of BBC America.]

Who was the captain's kid who was drunk when he was taking the test?

He kept falling asleep during the exam... a lieutenant came by to wake him up.

I bet he is in the top 10.

DSS on 1st watch in 4 got a CR# on a p.o. because the p.o. posted something online about the DSS's kid.

Is this true?

A 13 y.o. male wearing a hood points an AK-47 replica pellet gun at two police officers in North Carolina at which time said subject is neutralized by a 24 year veteran. Now protest flaring up and FBI involved. I'm not the police but I would like to say that I would have done the same forced in the situation. The officer responded with the training he was provided. I wonder if this same kid walked into any school or business wearing a hood and carring a rifle, who many people would say... No worries, it's just a pellet gun? This country needs to wake up! Good job officers.

Attended the USO Gala at Navy Pier last night. When it came time for the formal toast it went like this:
To our Commander in Chief - crickets.
To the Army - roars and applause
To the Air Force - roars and applause.
To the Navy - Roars and applause.
To the Coast Guard - Roars and applause.
To the Marines - Roars and applause.
NO MAYOR, NO GOVERNOR, NO DEMOCRATS OF ANY KIND.
What a beautiful night it was.

If true, I say good.

1- if you don't have the balls to call someone out in person, shame on you. You're a fucking coward.

2- you don't ever rip on a mans wife or kids. Ever. That type of shit alone should get you your ass handed to you. Spouse and kids are a no-go.

3- if you're stupid enough to put something online where the whole world has access to it and you don't consider the consequence of it possibly coming back to bite you in the ass, you are a stupid asshole that deserves whatever you get in return.

Don't work in 004 or know any of them but why is a copper posting anything in the Internet about another coppers kid? Let along a supervisors kid!? If the sgt is getting a number on him then so be it but if it was me it's off duty related so it wouldn't be a cr number I would knock the shit out of him. Don't fuck with anybody's family on or off duty I don't care what the situation is. If the dss did get a number then good. I would have handled it different but it will teach you to mess with another guys family.. Especially their kids

The same reason they have to have their gun exposed at a test ... Because this job is filled with boners. I really can't stand the majority of people on this job anymore... It's all about being a hardass cop and not just a regular guy havin fun. It's all cop talk all the time, talkin about the big dope pinch and knowing it all. This dept has turned into suburbanite geeks and yuppies with a badge. They have no idea how to talk to people on the street or other cops. They are gung-ho about the wrong things and don't get it... Nerds

I have to agree that if you mess with someone's family you got it coming to you. Also I have known that dss for many years and never had a issue with him. He takes good care of his officers and stands up for them if need be. Messing with one's family is inexcusable under any circumstance.

16 cents on the dollar...

this city and state will remain in the hands of crooked dems for some time. I'm starting to wonder if it isn't just the same to pull the plug early, cut my losses, and move to a red state.

if I wait too long, thinking at least I have my pension, by the time I need it they will have detroited what I thought I had coming and I'll be too old to get hired somewhere else to start from scratch somewhere else and have enough time to get vested.

maybe I should put in with another department out of state while I still have the strength to do another academy and time to do 20 somewhere else.

Do your homework and go. Lots of departments elsewhere will take your Chicago time and count it toward retirement there. Many years ago, I almost moved to Albuquerque, where they accepted our time on and paid extra for Spanish speakers and advanced degrees and you got a take-home car. Wish I'd gone.

this story is 100% false. There was an officer on the first watch who posted a nasty remark about the DSS. The DSS tried to reason with that officer but she refused. So she got a number. She is a do nothing self righteous dog who is bitter about not being in HQ. As for the DSS yes he is a jag off but everyone is accustomed to it by now. The whole 1st watch went to shit when the captain left. Don't post stupid shit on the internet boys and girls is not worth it. everyone be safe out there.

Someone mentioned a great turnout at a benefit. For those of us that are retired it would be good to hear about these things before they areover. I was never one to spend all my off duty time with the police, and I am not part of a police family so I don't know about benefits etc. through my social circle. I would like to contribute, attend, or help out in some way if I could. I there a central posting place for events.?
