Gas Prices Going Up

  • A fire at the Citgo oil refinery in southwest suburban Lemont late Wednesday sent flames shooting high into the night sky, sparked concern among citizens — but caused no injuries.

The fire started about 7:40 p.m. in the refinery’s crude oil unit, which was immediately shut down, according to a statement issued by Citgo spokesman Pete Colarelli.
Prices probably up twenty or thirty cents by this time next week.

Damn...

That's like the 4th or fifth "mishap" in a Greater Chicago area oil refinery in the last few years?

It's all bullshit and by design?

Kinda like the famous "Chicago Summer Blend" gasoline...

Prices can fall/HAVE FALLEN nation-wide but they somehow manage to buck the trend here in Chicago somehow.

Speaking of Gas...

I had one of my vehicles in for service at my trusted neighborhood mechanic. This guy is the best.

He tells me that he is seeing a lot of problems caused by bad gas in Chicago. There is a lot of gas that has excessive water in it and/or particulate matter. He had several glass bottles and showed me some of the gunk laden gas he recovered for customers’ fuel tanks. He also had some blue tinted gas from City of Chicago vehicles and it was just as bad.

He stated that much of the gas from the civilian cars was bought at warehouse club store gas pumps like Costco and Sam's Club. He gave me some fuel injector cleaner and said to burn a tank of mid-grade gas and reset the "check engine" light.

Bad gas may be causing a lot of problems in our squad cars. Can someone in Fleet Management please do a little quality checking?

Stay Safe. If you see a gas station getting a delivery, avoid it for at least an hour so the sediments in the underground tanks settle.

Seems every time gas drops a fire pops up just to keep prices up!

Maybe we should station some security around the refinery as prices drop!

Ya think! ! ! ! !

I ride a bike and the red line. I wear a vest and carry 3 guns with extended magazines. I would carry a ballistic shield but those are just so expensive and heavy to carry on the red line especially if there aren't any seats and you have to stand. My bmx bike may not hold the weight anyway.

This is some major B.S. just another reason to rake people over the coals. ONLY stations that get gas from Citgo should be effected by this.

According to Citgo's own press release:
"While Lemont refinery employees produce high quality fuels for a large portion of the network of nearly 6,000 locally owned CITGO stations across the country, they also... volunteering..."
