Francis Trial

The homeless woman has some piece-of-shit lawyers presenting some off-the-wall, fucked up theories on this murder of one of our own:
  • An attorney for a woman on trial in the murder of a Chicago police officer in 2008 suggested today that the shooting was accidental after the officer body-slammed the woman and the two struggled physically.

In opening statements at the trial of Robin Johnson, Assistant Public Defender Brendan Max repeatedly described his client at the time as “distressed and confused” and said surveillance video would show that it was not her intention to kill the veteran officer.

"You'll be able to tell that nobody grabbed anyone's gun," Max told the jurors during some 15 minutes of opening remarks. "At the most what happened here was the struggle for a gun."
No one grabbed the officer's gun, but somehow he ended up dead by his own weapon? Is this fucking lawyer really going to push this theory?

And she continued to not hold the gun or point it at responding officers who shot her numerous times? Seriously?

The trial continues today, Room 302 at 26th and California. Stop by after you get your continuance date.

The beast offender was violent with her own family, pulling a knife very recent to the murder of PO Francis, the reason she was sleeping on police station floors. Yeah, no one snatched the gun, it just levitated into her hand and self-discharged into the officer's face.

When you have nothing but straws to grasp onto that is the kind of defense you get. I thought they would go with an insanity defense.

Shows the importance of firearms practice and shot placement. Court should have been on the street in July 2008.

This is a typical lawyer tactic for a loser case with a guilty as hell client. When you've got nothing else, point the finger at the victim or witness and try to make them the bad guy. Just tells me he ain't got shit else to defend his client with.

I'm confused, "Struggle for a gun" sounds like 720 ILCS 5/31-1a, disarming a police officer or correctional institution employee, which is a felony.

Officer Francis was killed as a result of said felony.

So... the murder defense is that it was felony murder?

The lawyer sounds as if it is lawful and acceptable to take an officer's gun. The huge glut of lawyers we have in this country is contributing to its speedy demise. All law schools should be reduced to 1/3 capacity for the next 25 years and funnel the rest of the somewhat intelligent people into fields that will contribute to society.

As seen from my days working homicides and seeing a number of police officers both on and off duty shot and or killed, defense lawyers like to pull that " self defense" theory for their clients. If the officer was in plain clothes they say their client thought they were being robbed. If the officer was in uniform, the defense is the officer was using excessive force and their client was defending themselves. Don't laugh, with the state of juries these defense theories can and have worked, not to get the client freed, but to get a reduced charge.

so what's a lawyer to do when they are assigned a case and told to defend someone who has no interest in pleading guilty? i mean, it's not like the constitution requires that a defense attorney represent someone who can't afford a lawyer. i mean, yes it does. and if you're an LEO, aren't you sworn to uphold the constitution? you really think that a lawyer faced with bad facts and a bad client WANTS to put on a show like this? well, sometimes you have to put the greater good (constitutional protections) ahead of the individual (including yourself) so that EVERYONE gets the benefit of the good things america provides. anyone REALLY think she's gonna walk? if there's a video, the jury will know what to do. or would you rather that the lawyer do nothing at all ...? what if he was representing you, or your son or daughter or father? it's not perfect, but it works pretty well. don't lambast the lawyer for doing his job, i'm sure he'd rather work on cases where there IS a viable defense and he has the moral high ground, but life is trickier than that, and sometimes you gotta eat a poop sandwich in order for things to work the way they should, in AMERICA!

This is why we need better mental health care, not throw more money at a system that is not operating as it should. Psychiatrists can tell any lie they want and hospices for the mentally ill have been caught lying to their patients to keep them in the hospital to keep the money flowing. They don't care about the patient or society, just the money.

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever read on here. The lawyer's job is to ensure that her constitutional rights are not violated. His job is not to get her off especially when it requires him to lie in such a blatant manner. Just like your job in taking paper is to report what people state even if you don't believe it. Even then you are reporting the facts..being that they stated x,y,z. It doesn't matter it's a lie. The fact is they stated those things. No one has a consitutional right to have a lawyer lie for them to defend them against accusations YOU IDIOT. I'm really pissed you take the time to share your juvenile understanding of the constitution, completely out of context, in defense of a lawyer spitting on the death of a PO and defending the scum who killed him?!?!?! Really?!?!?! You're a moron. Out.

Since you're new to our planet, Google OJ Simpson and read how that murder trial turned out despite overwhelming evidence of his guilt. Or maybe you're just a liberal; either way get a fucking clue. Juries are comprised of people in the community, which also include a lot of dumb fucks that sometimes buy what these bottom feeder attorneys are selling. Most of the people who read this blog wouldn't raise children that murder police officers so we can't imagine this piece of dog shit representing our children for anything, much less murder. Providing a reasonable defense is different than lying or changing the facts about someone who obviously is guilty and doesn't have a redeeming quality.

Unfortunately, sometimes it works and a jury buys it.
Remember OJ's attorneys saying he had no strength and was suffering from arthritis and wasnt capable of doing the crime. Then the prosecution showed he had just made a physical fitness video, but the jury bought it

if you could read (which it seems you can't) and read the constitutional supreme court cases addressing this issue, that is EXACTLY the DEFENSE lawyer's job. to STOP the state from convicting him. period. it IS his job to defend the client (not the public, ironically that is the prosecutor's job). the defense lawyer has a constitutional OBLIGATION to try and stop the state from convicting the client. that's why it's an adversarial system you dunce. go back to grade school, read some books, and you will see why this system WORKS as well as it does, and that juries are generally NOT stupid (sure, go and prove the rule by citing exceptions you holier than thou never read a book guy) she will lose and never see the light of day. simple as that, and the defense lawyer by doing his job will prevent any successful appeal as well, which is a GOOD thing. idiot. i sure hope you don't have a badge OR a gun.

Rude, arrogant and obnoxious, let me guess.....a lawyer. There is a reason normal people hate you. But you aren't bright enough to see it.

I believe the poster was unhappy with the fact that lawyers aren't interested in right or wrong, only money. They lie, cheat, suborn perjury and make a joke of the "justice" system.

If all you learned in law school was that you are supposed to get your client off no matter the consequences, then there is something really wrong with these law schools, or you.

Most normal people hate lawyers. Many lawyers hate lawyers. That says a lot.

some people actually take their oath to uphold the constitution seriously. you don't like it, go ahead and change it. there's a straightforward process to changing it. we may not agree, but in the end, if you take an oath, you uphold it. we live by the constitution and supreme court rulings. maybe you don't want to. there's 300 other countries in the world you can move to or you can change the laws. but until that happens, this is the best we got and it works best when everyone does their job. and yes, a DEFENSE lawyer has to DEFEND their client. and if a judge agrees that your theory should betold to the jury, he will let you. if you have facts to present to prove that theory, the judge will let you do it. if there were no reason or facts that prove your theory, the judge will rip you a new one AND prevent you from saying things you cannot try to prove. go back to communist russia if you don't like it. if you can't wrap your brain around the fact that defense lawyers don't have a lot of wiggle room when forced to represent someone who did something bad who WANTS to go to trial, the constitution says you have to tough it out and do your best. don't hate the lawyer, be mad that he has nowhere else to turn and is doing a difficult job like many of you do and has to follow rules all the same.

O.T. Time Amount For Sergeant's Test

Someone asked if for the sergeant's test once you are finished with the exam can you leave/are you done? I just talked to the company over the phone. The answer is yes, once you are finished with the exam you are done. You hand over your test and boom you are done. They are saying to allocate 4 to 5 hours because that is how they calculate it from the start reporting time of 8 AM to 1 PM in case the test start time needs to be pushed forward a little.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You never heard the expression "There's a Time and a Place for everything"? Take that sgt exam info some place else.

Prosecution will rest Monday & defense will begin. Numbers for Ricks side are pretty low, if anyone is around & can come in & show support, it would be great.

Trial for Officer Rick Francis
Rick was a Veteran CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER, he was shot and killed by a woman with his own gun- He received three gun shot wounds- the first to his eye and she proceeded to shoot him twice more. His trial began last Monday and the turn out for the offender has been very good. The turn out for Rick has been minimum at best- there have been an average of 5-7 officers in attendance- majority who are coming off their midnight shift and staying in court all day- The family and P.O's from 019 appreciate all who have stopped in but this woman who took one of our own (with his own gun) should not have more support than Rick's family. They are not going with an insanity defense because she knew very well what she was doing-
Please try and come to court this week- The Defense will begin their arguments Monday
Monday- October 28, 2013
Time- 11:00 am
Room -302
26th/California
