Dart Federal Lawsuit
- John Maher, was Assistant General Council to Sheriff Tom Dart. Maher was also a Lieutenant Colonel in the military. When he was called on by his country to serve Sheriff Dart took exception and questioned Maher's loyalty. Maher was then fired by Dart after completing his deployment.. Dart then justified his firing by making false allegations against Maher including but not limited too, Rosemary Nolan entering Maher in LEADS charging him with theft for a Sheriff's employee ID the same Day Robert Egan sent him notification to turn over his Credentials. Undersheriff Zelda Whittler told Maher that Sheriff Dart lost trust in him for serving his Country. Maher also alleges Sheriff Dart had investigators go through his personal belongings looking for dirt on him.

The High Sheriff is a hard man to cross. Defy him at your peril. POTUS has some of the same attributes. Obviously Maher had his priorities mixed up.

Imagine your this guy. Your a lieutenant colonel in the military. You bravely serve three tours of duty in a war zone. Then you get back and your employer {Dart} decides to target you. I cant believe reading this suit. They made this guy who is a lawyer hand out prisoner sandwiches and then charged him with a bogus theft. And Sheriff Dart said it was a "kick in the teeth" that Maher chose loyalty to the military over him. I am sending this to everyone I know. Dart needs to answer this.

As part of the settlement for defying federal law and unlawfully terminating your employment after honorable service in the military, your attorneys should demand that those involved in this shameful action, including Sheriff Dart, forfeit their office and employment with the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
Thank you Mr Maher for your service to our nation. I hope you get millions and it should come from the personal accounts of those who orchestrated and participated in the unlawful termination action.

The link says the lawsuit's now been settled. Good, I hope LTC Maher got a few million. Why not, better him than some shit-head hitting the Ghetto Lottery via a bogus 'brutality' lawsuit.
But that's irrelevant, that federal law on Guaranteed Employment and Military Service, in one form or another, goes back to at least the 1960s and Vietnam, maybe even to the 1950s after Korea (I know it didn't exist after WWII, some lean years for returning Servicemen back then).
So it's hard to believe Dart didn't know about it. Or that he never had one *friend*, relative, or acquaintance who had a job then went into the Military via Draft, Reserve or Nat'l Guard call up, who went right back to their existing job after fulfilling their military service obligation.
Therefore, Dart just has to be a fucking jaggoff who thought he could get away with that illegal bullshit solely because of:

-- b) Where he's from, Crook County IL.
-- c) Who is sitting in the White House, the military hating DemonRAT Barry O'Commie-bama.

The county settles BullShit cases for a couple of grand. They don't settle for several hundred thousand unless their is major evidence and merit.

Dart reported alleged misconduct to the Illinois Department of employment Security against Maher. But in the defense response to the Federal suit they denied this even when the The Il Department of Security confirmed they received notification of alleged misconduct from the Sheriff. What Mr. Dart you were digging gold on Maher but found nothing? Ever hear of Watergate?

A guy with as much 'need' for publicity as Dart could have used Maher's military service for his own PR benefit.

I worked with Tom in the State's Attorney's office years back. He was always a strange cat. His family had big money and always got little Tommy out of trouble. He was never a real prosecutor and had trouble showing up to work. Daddy told him to show up to build his resume and he finally did the last few years. He always had very high aspirations, his old man was top bag man for old man Daley. I always liked his father, on the other hand Tom was just a spoiled brat who looked like a bum. He was actually once reprimanded by a judge for his appearance in court. I gave him a little leeway cause he was so young at the time. But I never liked the kid.

Could you imagine if this got to a jury. And your right, they do have a lot of dirt on Dart. Maher is not the only suit. Also, remember guys like Driscoll are not politicians and media savy like Dart.

Dart had a meeting with brass from Sheriff's police a while back. Our Commander informed us that Sheriff Dart was irate we were not bringing in enough revenue for admin tows. Sheriff Dart actually said "tell your guys that I will go to Preckwinkle and tell her to fire every last one of you, disband Sheriff's police and you all can sue me. You may win 7 or eight years down the line but in the mean time you will lose your house, your family, and will be living on the street "

There is an alternative to Dart. Lt. Bill Evans is a SP officer who is respected by his troops and has excellent job knowledge. He needs support from the rank and file guus in CPD!! Check out his website at www.electbillevans.com. This dude has a chance if we get behind him.

civilian employer finds out he is incompetent. Did this with
three law firms and a federal government job (while
sexually harassing employees). I know, I was there. After
wasting taxpayer dollars by drawing double pay from the
Army and the Sheriff while sitting in an air conditioned
office as a LAWYER in Afghanistan (not as a foot soldier),
he slacked off at the Sheriff's office. After refusing a
transfer, he quit and refused to turn in his sheriff's badge.
Maher is a crooked lazy dishonest faker loser. Now
unemployed, he is working as a contractor in Afghanistan
serving coffee at a Starbucks knockoff. Haha.
