Well, off Subject but I am a CPD retiree(03) and I recvd a letter this week from the city stating my health insurance is going up to 962.00 per month from a little over 600.00 currently an over 300.00 per month increase! I thought the liar-in-chief constantly campaigned on the lie that average Americans were going to save 2500.00 annually instead I'm going up over 4000.00 annual!
Fucking Barb West PROMOTED again! Deputy Chief of the Academy!!! The fucking academy! Someone who has never actually BEEN the police, never worked the street, and went out of her way to make IAD cases against stick against good coppers is now in charge of training new coppers. What could go wrong?

I got a heads up from a friend who works for a major Chicago Investigative reporter to prepare for the fallout on a camera crew following 2 Northside bicycle cops spending the summer in full uniform in a tavern drinking and hanging out with underage college kids. Supposedly the place is owned by the family of an imprisoned ex Alderman and the reporter enlisted a 17 yr old to wear a camera and capture the 2 everyday for the duration of the summer. To make matters worse the whistleblower is a Priest whose University office overlooks the tavern and said he has been complaining for over 5 yrs to District Supvs who failed to act. Good job jagoffs.

Certainly better then anyone appointed under Daley. We needed someone to shake up the culture of this department. It was becoming too inbred and stale. Weiss and McCarthy brought much needed changes to the department. Nothing is perfect, but I lived through Martin, Hillard, Rodriguez and they were nothing to brag about. None of them could go out and get another job as police superintendent anywhere in the country. They had to rely on politics.
Hearing Evans from 003 is going to head the new saturation/gun unit. 10 hour days.

You are blaming the wrong guy this time. You can blame him in 2017 when the retirees health plan is no longer subsidized by the city and goes to Obamacare.
This increase was due to the city lowering the 55% of your healthcare it contributes to between 30 and 42% depending on time on the job, year you retired, etc

I don't know, I've got a CD of a band with the exact makeup of the Titanic deck ensemble playing the exact music they played as the ship sank and it is really good. Powerful as you realize this is the last music many people heard and the last ever played by those guys. They all died.

Lodding came to the academy with absolutely no knowledge of training or teaching. He surrounded himself with clout babies and the Greek sgt. After five years, nothing has changed. He is the greatest con man at convincing 35th street that everything is perfect in the academy. If you need a favor, call Howard. He will take the most unqualified officers and assign them to training.
Now everyone complains about West, that she is not qualified to run the academy? She cannot be any worse than Lodding in the last five years. Now if West is assigned to the academy. hopefully she will bring in two working LTS to make some absolutely necessary changes. Pigott will move to a unit and Lippman is a legend in his own mind. Lippman is a poor excuse for a LT. He pulled his retirement papers and the academy will continue to suffer. Time for changes, boys and girls. The vacation is over.

She is not respected or well liked by her District. The fact that she worked all the side jobs to the detriment of her real job does not reflect well. That is why the story about her bringing a full sized pillow to work to sleep on is so egregious.
Heap praise on people that work hard and are well respected for what they do on this job. The job the taxpayers pay them to do. We don't have enough of them rising to the top these days. She is being pushed by a politically powerful group. There is no honor in that and it's not good for the Department.
Washington, Rivera, O'Grady all come to mind. You may not always agree with them, but they work hard on THIS job.

Just heard from a good source they are going to dump the tact LT in 019.
024 and 020 will never merge . Too much politics . If they merged you would never see a car north of Pratt . People wouldn't accept that . You would never be able to trust an back up north of touhy . You would be all alone. Give a north side cop the liberty to patrol as far south as Lawrence and you will never see him on the"north pole".
Here's the deal, Lemmer is getting 019 since he's been there before, Mcdrunkoff likes his bs micromanagement so, Eli Voulgaris is getting 020, they still got Greeks there, the problem is what to do with XO Mikey "I want what I want and I want it now daddy!!!" Ryan. Word is he's like the plague, no one wants him but in order to bring 019, His honors district (sarcasm), into some type of coherent work place, there must be this change. But what do do with the wild card, the joker, XO Ryan? Word has it there are going to mix it up with some new captains and move XO Mikey either to an inspector spot, since that's what he likes to do all the time in 019, and he can't do too much damage, or find an inside spot for him in a cubicle. Seems like some downtown who know of Mikey and don't dig his "I'm the Operations Officer" thinking, they believe it clearly undermines the commander, which it does. So look for XO Mikey Ryan to be leaving 019, also they want to remove him from his significant other, so thats like the icing on the cake. You can't just change the commander, you need to remove the source of the illnes which plagues 019, that being XO Ryan. So heads up y'all, well shall see where he lands and don't forget, you have been warned!!!

The above post is absolutely ridiculous! Barbara West-Givings, as she was called back in the day, worked days, usually on the desk, and handed radios out! She never, and I mean never, did a thing. Somehow she was clouted into meritorious Detective, where she again showed her incompetence. Youu can find her Det. star number and then read some of her CHRIS reports for enjoyment. Her distinguished career as an A4 Det. (remember all the police shootings and homicides she handled...yeah right!) propelled her meritoriously to Sgt. and above.

Really? Well let's see.... in 011 she worked the front office for the Starks, CAPS for Starks and from there it was promotions on the cuff. She's spent less than 6 months in a beat car in her entire life.

There is NOTHING about her career or background that qualifies her for rank of any sort.
020 and 024 definitely merging. March 2014. It's a Planning and Finance thing. The lot in 020 is never even half full and the changes in 024 as of the last 12-18 mos. have more to do with Dept. of S&S and other offices taking over to close down older facilities without having to build new ones.
lock-up in 020 is a ghost town most days and as far as patrol not going north of Pratt, that's just dumb. Assignments wouldn't change, the map would hardly change, and that's what gps and all those new bosses are gonna be for- to make sure you are where you are supposed to be.
If Lemmer gets 019 he sure won't let Ryan do the shit he does now. Eli is afraid to lead and put Ryan in his place. In fact most commanders wouldn't let Ryan do that shit. Just look at the massive numbers bidding out. That tells the story. I welcome this Lemmer guy whoever he is.
Here's the deal, Lemmer is getting 019 since he's been there before, Mcdrunkoff likes his bs micromanagement so, Eli Voulgaris is getting 020, they still got Greeks there, the problem is what to do with XO Mikey "I want what I want and I want it now daddy!!!" Ryan. Word is he's like the plague, no one wants him but in order to bring 019, His honors district (sarcasm), into some type of coherent work place, there must be this change. But what do do with the wild card, the joker, XO Ryan? Word has it there are going to mix it up with some new captains and move XO Mikey either to an inspector spot, since that's what he likes to do all the time in 019, and he can't do too much damage, or find an inside spot for him in a cubicle. Seems like some downtown who know of Mikey and don't dig his "I'm the Operations Officer" thinking, they believe it clearly undermines the commander, which it does. So look for XO Mikey Ryan to be leaving 019, also they want to remove him from his significant other, so thats like the icing on the cake. You can't just change the commander, you need to remove the source of the illnes which plagues 019, that being XO Ryan. So heads up y'all, well shall see where he lands and don't forget, you have been warned!!!

So you have been at the Academy for over 5 years? It sounds like it since you are such the expert. And with all that expert knowledge, you never figured out how to spell Lipman's name?
He was always a very fair and reasonable boss when I worked for him. It's true the Academy is full of whiny bitches. But the people who go around calling other adults boys and girls, and making broadly offensive statements like "the vacation is over" are usually the biggest scammer dogs themselves.
I got a heads up from a friend who works for a major Chicago Investigative reporter to prepare for the fallout on a camera crew following 2 Northside bicycle cops spending the summer in full uniform in a tavern drinking and hanging out with underage college kids. Supposedly the place is owned by the family of an imprisoned ex Alderman and the reporter enlisted a 17 yr old to wear a camera and capture the 2 everyday for the duration of the summer. To make matters worse the whistleblower is a Priest whose University office overlooks the tavern and said he has been complaining for over 5 yrs to District Supvs who failed to act. Good job jagoffs.

I call bullshit. 020 was just opened in 2003. They are not going to let a brand new building sit unused especially with oconnor being a huge fan of 020 and that station being built was his baby. Will never happen as long as oconnor is alderman up there.
019 hasn't been bad the last couple of weeks. Oh, wait, that's right! XO Ryan is on furlough. No wonder everything is better.

I was hired in 1971, and yes, they did tell us that the city would take care of us when we retired. Part of the reasoning was that we did not have workmans comp (which would cost the city a ton more money ). The retiree health care was part of the continued care that included you past injuries.
Some of us old farts still can remember..
The 20th district station will be the home of the 20th district which will encompass 20 and 24. Lawrence to Juneway. River to lake. Big ass district. Look for 003 to close after 24. Maybe in late 2014 or early 2015. They want 20 districts total. Look for some redistricting as well. Moving 7 west to California. 15 taking some of 25. 17 taking some of 16. And a few others.

She is not respected or well liked by her District. The fact that she worked all the side jobs to the detriment of her real job does not reflect well. That is why the story about her bringing a full sized pillow to work to sleep on is so egregious.
Heap praise on people that work hard and are well respected for what they do on this job. The job the taxpayers pay them to do. We don't have enough of them rising to the top these days. She is being pushed by a politically powerful group. There is no honor in that and it's not good for the Department.
Washington, Rivera, O'Grady all come to mind. You may not always agree with them, but they work hard on THIS job.

I remember back in the late 70's an old time Captain telling us at the midnight roll call that what the city was doing financially was not sustainable and that eventually it couldn't last. Those of us who were paying attention didn't believe it, but I guess in hind sight he was a lot smarter than we gave him credit for.

you were doing ok until you said 003 will close and 007 will move west to california... never will that happen. 90 percent if not more of 008s homicides happen between california - bell. No way are they going to add 20-25 more homicides to 007 along with a few hundred shootings. 007 is busy enough, no chance they can handle that much more. also, 003 closing will not happen. 002 is already big enough, 004 is way too big and extremely busy and has its own problems dealing with 004 homicides and shootings. 006 cant take on anymore than what it has and it is also a big district. 003 will stay as it is, 007 will stay as it is and will not move its boundary west anywhere. you tried at least, and sometimes thats all that counts.
