Knife Wielding Assailant Killed
- A Chicago police officer killed a man who authorities said was waving a butcher knife during a domestic disturbance early Friday morning.
The officer was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center for observation, shook up after the shooting but otherwise uninjured, authorities said.
A spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Felix Valdez, 44.
The shooting happened about 1:10 a.m. in the 3200 block of South Halsted Street, on the same block as the parking garage for the 9th District police station. Valdez lived in the apartment where he was shot.

OT: The hearing for the charges that were filed against President Shields will be held on Tuesday October 22nd at 5:30 PM at the FOP. Members need to be there so that his hand picked trial panel cannot sweep this under the carpet. Either be there or quit bitching about this little shit. Gee, he forgot to mention it at the last meeting. Go figure.

Also, different people react differently to traumatic events. I remember how my partner would often get shaken up after seeing people severely injured. Take care officer.

ive been there, ,any officer who isn't "shook up" after taking a human life needs to seriously look inside himself. it's a form of shock from what I was told, just shows that the officer is a caring human being who needs our support, and please don't tell him what a great job he did dispatching a piece of shit to hell, that will not make him feel good....trust me.... if he wants to talk about it with you , let him bring it up. otherwise just shake his hand when he comes back to work and keep an eye on him if he is your friend.
Sometimes this has to be done. Process it, accept it and move on.

The offender had a knife and it looked like a suicide by cop type of incident. He had a knife and the officer had good distance on him. She told him three times to drop the knife. He refused and advanced towards the officer. She shot him. She had to.
Hey listen - it's like this. Either the cop shoots and kills the offender, or the cop is dead and his family is without a provider.
So what's a fella to do? Oh I don't know - how about MAN UP and kill the fucker who's trying to kill you before he kills you?
