NYC Ends Streak of No Killings

  • An 18-year-old man shot and killed on a Brooklyn street Monday ended a seven-day stretch with no homicides, police records show.

The unidentified teen took a bullet to the back near 53rd St. and Avenue J in Flatlands about 10:15 p.m.

Emergency workers rushed the bleeding victim to Kings County Hospital, where he died. No arrests were immediately made.

NYPD data shows it was the first killing in a week. Cops investigated eight murders during the same week last year, according to the records.

It was the longest murder-free period since the nine days from this past Jan. 17 to Jan. 25 — a streak that coincided with a bitter cold snap, officials said.
Cold snap? Weather affects crime? Who knew?

Anyone know what Chicago's longest streak is without a killing? We recall three different occasions where it was trumpeted to the media that Chicago went 24 hours without a shooting, but actual homicides?

A seven day stretch? We can't go seven hours.

As usual, NYC shows the way. Only LA is more progressive.

This year, we've had a few 24-36hr runs with no shootings, but the longest streak without a homicide looks to be April 14-18, 5 days.

You should really read Steve Sailer, don't listen to Libs words. Watch and do what they do.

Rahm is doing it. He's sending the problem to the provinces. Don't judge him, you too do not "solve" the problem. Not sure the police should be solving problems.

We won't have that kind of streak. Too many sociopaths.

NYC is entering a new political era. For better or for worse, we will see big changes in the way the city does business.

NO! NO! NO!

This is a deviation from the script!

The problem is guns!

GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!

That's why we need "mandatory minimum" gun sentencing designed to circumvent the spirit and letter of meaningful public carry by upright citizens and expose them to the same legal peril as the habitual UUW offender since we couldn't prevent a common sense reading of the 2A from being declared as the law of the land.

Darn that pesky SCOTUS!

Our last crime free hour was March 10, 2013, when the clocks moved forward for daylight savings time.
2:00 am quickly turned into 3:00 am.

Good God, man, do you suffer from low self-esteem? Afraid no one will notice your post, so you post it on every single current topic here?

Didn't we go 2 days without a shooting during the blizzard from 2 years ago? I know there was a little span because everyone was snowed in. Then when there was a shooting it was over a snowblower during the night in Englewoo

NY will most likely have a very liberal democratic mayor who will fire the current police commissioner and ban all stop and frisk and have a gentle and kind police department and crime will once more rise to great heights and exceed Chicago. Yes, the liberal way is the only way.You can't have a policy that adversely affects a minority even though that minority is causing all of the commotion. It just isn't fair.
