Good Behavior a Headline?
Amazing. These rapscallions behave for once, and it's a top story on ABC News:
- Rival high schools meet on the football field in a game that is closely watched, but not only for the final tally on the scoreboard.
Students from Rich Central and Rich South were involved in a recent brawl that put their schools in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons and left nearly a dozen students facing charges.
[...]It's the first football game between the competing suburban Chicago schools since a brawl broke out late last month between students from the two high schools.
[...]Parents, friends and supporters were able to attend the much-anticipated game after the school district reversed its decision banning all spectators from the stands citing safety concerns.
Isn't that what kids are supposed to do at school football games? Behave, enjoy the game, cheer your team on, maybe some good old fashioned jeering back and forth across the field, your marching band and cheerleaders maybe with some not-so-subtle chants back and forth?
Sorry. Reminiscing. A simpler time we suppose.

Why don't they do a story on the schools that never act up? I guess you only get accolades for good behavior when it's an aberration.
Ahhhh the good ole days, of common sense. Long gone and almost forgotten. Probably never to return.
Give it s day or so and the killings will start again.
Channel 7 news stated only family could attend, then showed footage of a handful of people in stands. Students were banned from attending. Security was high for family only. Of course, nothing happened.
Everything a normal person does becomes a noteworthy achievement here in the new US. Remember the old "Twilight Zone"? "That's a good thing, Benji. A real good thing. Now wish it into the cornfield."

I could go on, but it was my birthday yesterday, and I retired 5 years ago.....do the math. I'm loosing it.
Be safe boys and girls and smile through the bullshit. That's all you can do.GOD Bless You All!
Kinda like congratulating a husband who doesn't beat his wife.
Good behavior... now that's NEWS!
They are expected to behave in school too!
Don't you just love the "new normal"?
No fights here however:
Two Referee's Arrested During Game in Louisiana:
There have been multiple cases in past 12 months where adults have been arrested or questioned for attacking or verbally abusing high school and youth sports referees. In a unique turn of the table, two referees in Louisiana were arrested on Friday after they allegedly threatened a police officer who was stationed on the field.

My little sister goes to Rich Central. Surprised.. Hell I'll say it... Surprised the shit out of me when I heard about it. I mean I grew up a CPS student, a huge school riot doesn't particularly phase me.. In Chicago. But some suburb kids fighting over new students being at their school? The hell is the world coming to? Rival gangs brawling to the point the school goes on lock down and students have to be released early, brawls after a food fight(believe it or not, some kids actually like to eat and not throw their school lunches, and feel strongly enough to fight over it. hmm) 7 girls fighting another 7 over some boy, sure, that's what I'm used to. But this? Wow. I've never even seen a huge brawl at football/basketball games.
Heard things got REALLY out of hand though. They're just lucky my little sis wasn't touched or I would have had to take a trip with some not so lovely Garfield Park residents...
I worked the Harlan -Julian game last week...director of security called it in the 4th quarter with 4 minutes left due to fight between players on field. never made the news
I remember when I was going to Holy Trinity H.S. back in '69. I was a transfer student from Weber. Trinity played Weber ...basketball...I was already a student at T. The busses where parked on Division. Before the game ended there were at least 3 broken windows. A little bit of a scuffle happened after the game. Stuff happens, kids stuff, stupid kids stuff. Nobody killed, nobody injured. Just not the same today.
