Ka-Ching!

  • Speed cameras installed around four Chicago parks churned out 204,743 warning notices in just 40 days — and would have generated $12.2 million in fines — if tickets had been issued, as they will be starting next week.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has insisted that his plan to install 50 speed cameras around schools and parks by Dec. 31 — and as many as 300 by next year — is about saving lives, not raising sorely needed revenue.

But the warning notices flying around McKinley, Marquette, Garfield and Gompers parks shows there’s a windfall coming, no matter what the mayor’s motives.
The Pension is saved! Oh wait, Rahm isn't going to fund it. Never mind.

Rahm has already said he will not find revenue for the pension find until there's pension REFORM( aka cuts in earned benefits)
Hell as it is now Rahm barely contributes 1/3 of the mandated contribution to our pension fund.
What a egotistical, childish,nose-in-the-air prick this jag is.

My brothers from Arizona said that that state is taking DOWN their speed cameras because they cause accidents.

Also they built two Portillo's Italian Beef joints in Phoenix.

Sheriff Joe is 80 years old and still in office.

More reasons to move there but keep your voting adddress in Chicago to stay in the pension fight.

All the cameras are doing is pushing the traffic to the major streets. I know I changed my route twice already!

As the death spiral continues and Chicago moves inexorably towards bankruptcy, Dems will squeeze the remaining population harder and harder for cash. Emanuel will put a few more flower pots on downtown streets which will distract the low-information Dem voters from the fact that taxes, fines and “convenience fees” are rising geometrically. Police will be pressed to do less and less police work and most will eventually just function as revenue agents enforcing the city’s cash-grabs through aggressive ticketing.

One irony is that these speed cams will affect poor people the hardest, working like a regressive tax on city drivers. The next irony is that drivers won’t pay the fines. The city will then revoke their licenses, and the drivers won’t care because they know 1) they’re not going to jail, and 2) the city really can’t make them pay. Everyone keeps driving, even if they’re suspended.

And down, down, down we go.

The cameras aren't lemons, they're lemonade! Whoever runs the election campaign against Rahm need only get the list of persons from Chicago who received Red light/Speed violations, through FOIA. Then do campaign mailings to vote against Rahm and FOR their candidate and send $$$$ support. And, you can do mailings for those outside the city who received these violations and ask directly for money to influence the outcome of the election and dump the jerk out of office. For sure the city will drag it's feet on putting out the list, or they'll sanitize it so no addresses or names. But, either way, Rahm will be vulnerable on this issue and it may galvanize the sheeple into paying attention and voting against him. It would truly be funny if he laid the seeds of his own destruction. Karen Lewis you listening?

If it is mandated (required by law) then how about Rahm going to jail for not putting the REQUIRED money in the fund?

And pray tell, which of the idiots in the corner salivating with dreams of taking over this city would you vote into office?

The only person I know that I would vote for right now is that poster here that claims to be the guy on the bike mouthbreather. He/She seems to at least treat everyone equally.

England has a huge social media group of regular people that's destroyed over a thousand of these speed cameras. Get to work Chicagoans. The English are fighting the GOOD fight.

Hmmm...was it the last contract when the lawyers for the FOP asked the city, during arbitration, about revenue generated by the red light cameras, that the city suddenly lost their voices, and Daley refused to comment?
