I was lucky to have worked with George Devereux in housing, as he crept through the projects finding all sorts of criminals to arrest. He is the police and will make an outstanding XO.
We used to have some great watch parties back in the day and never talked about what went on, but we never promoted the entertainment to Captain. Times sure have changed or I guess that's how they do things in NY.
You know who is very talented... she can suck a golf ball through a straw ... and if you are nice she will send you some very interesting e mails ...

I remember showing up for a detail in 002 and Murphy was in uniform wearing flip flops in roll call. We got real leaders in this dept.

I work there and I never experienced a bad side of him. I know he is a merit Lt.. and all but he is a hard worker and knowledgable guy. He deserves it in my book.

OT- But the other day I noticed a flyer posted in the roll call room, regarding Dean Angelo and his run for FOP president. Please do your homework when selecting our next guy, Dr. Dean as he wants to be called has been carried on the FOP gravy train for years, now he is on disability AND teaches full time at Lewis. He also moved his kid into the FOP with 5 yrs on the job, when his friends were all still there. Its time to call enough is enough with this guy. Hes part of the good ol'boy club that is all retired already. And please, Im not bashing him, just explaining facts that should be known to the members.
Meanwhile I get into my cageless and computer less squad with 130,000 miles. If I get a paper job I need to do a paper report then drive into a station where only one computer works. Then if it turns into an arrest, 3-4 hrs later I wait for the transport. If I'm lucky I get to grab a sandwich. Now we these Political Hacks being made,they will wonder why I have no movers or Parker's. Hey Capt go piss up a rope!

I agree. This guy has zero leadership qualities and no balls whatsoever. Clout heavy all the way. I don't think he's worked the street a day in his career. Some old timers told me he spent his entire career in mass transit. That entire list is a fucking joke.

(009 1st watch) posted on his facebook page how disappointed he was with the police service in the district he lives in . he stated that he left his car unlocked and some asshole stole his charger and garage opener which they used to open his garage , first of all lock your car, you don't live in the freaking suburb.......then he went on expressing his gratitude for police service " very special f**k you to bt 812r once again hiding somewhere doing absolutely nothing" .......for your information officer d.b. 812r was hiding in the station processing arrest from their bt ( gangbanger who was beating on his girlfriend). officer i bet you bt accused of doing nothing made more good arrests this year then you did.......you dont even have balls to apologize for being wrong and puting it outhere in the internet. and what makes me laugh, you reqested special attention on your house from the same bt. you accused of doing nothing. This list clearly shows that nothing has changed and Clout still Rules. Consider that Chambers and Piggot are both Political Hacks. Both of these guys were Clout Heavy hidden in Mass Transit, which used to be Clout Heavy to begin with. Piggot was hidden there as a P.O. and Sgt. and he did absolutely nothing. Piggot's father was a Tactical Lt., and his brother was on Daley's Detail after he too left Mass Transit; their Clout was out of the 11th Ward, or they just fell into "Special" assignments. Chambers was a driver for Acosta, and spent his hiding time in Mass Transit being sent to Special Schools at the behest of Cmdr. Gross, who was one of Acosta's favorite blonde "Surfer" Types. Acosta had a thing for Blonde Guys. Now those are just the two cases I know of personally. Study hard, but don't be surprised if Clout still rules.

Word is the city will write the DSS Order and eliminate all mention of Lieutenants. That way Sergeants wont have to be paid Out of Grade. Lieutenants will ONLY be used in the field. Cities way of getting around Arbitrators award.

In a previous thread someone said that Deveraux served in Viet Nam and received a Silver Star and 3 PHM which I take to mean Purple Heart medals. Now he is very deserving and is one of the few legitimate names on that list. But if he served in Viet Nam, how old is he? The was ended in 1975, with the youngest Viet Nam vets being in their very late 50's or early 60's,. Can someone clarify this?

Last time I checked human gestation and the church does not give a fuck about my RDO's. Anyways, good luck 016. Now every watch has to answer 30 questions about taking a day off from work. Just make sure you time due requests are not attached to your RDO's and are never consecutive days you'll be good.

They have filed an extension to pay order with the courts allowing them a 364 (one day short of a year which is the limit for an extension) to pay the award. If successful that means that expect the pay for the 6th day wont come until just about 1 year from the arbitration award which was about a month ago... What say you FOP?????
Work in 006 on 3rd Watch and thought things couldn't get any worse but hear nothing but terrible things about this new Lt. I can't imagine though he'd be hated any more by the watch or the Sgts than this stroke we got from the Northside.

Old timer once told me that the captain's spot was for those who had clout and were obliged a promotion, but would never go any further in their career; a token position basically for those who had juice but didn't have enough clout or the powers that be didn't deem them competent enough for higher rank. If you were chosen for advancement, you would be promoted directly from lieutenant to ADS, Chief, etc. Don't know if this was true, but judging solely from experience I can say it would not surprise me. Either way, I don't know why they would promote anyone to a rank which basically no longer exists and is part of a redundant and already top heavy management structure- unless for the reason mentioned earlier.

Captains used to be made off a list with an actual test. If that were true today you would see a very different list. The evil empire eliminated the rank only to resurrect it again with 100% meriticulus appointments. Just a bit of facts for all the newbies in the dept. The true captains were gone since late 90's I guess. The only true rank that you can rise to is Lieutenant so before you go on wishing that to be gone, remember you are eliminating a chance for yourself. There are quite a few Lt's out there that scored very high on the list and were also the real police you will know them right away if you work for them.

Say what you want about Godsel. He's as standup a guy as I've ever seen. Everyone bitches about terrible bosses and here is a great boss and people want to bag on him cus he tests well and had the tight timing for tests. Some people will never be happy. Old timer once told me that the captain's spot was for those who had clout and were obliged a promotion, but would never go any further in their career; a token position basically for those who had juice but didn't have enough clout or the powers that be didn't deem them competent enough for higher rank. If you were chosen for advancement, you would be promoted directly from lieutenant to ADS, Chief, etc. Don't know if this was true, but judging solely from experience I can say it would not surprise me. Either way, I don't know why they would promote anyone to a rank which basically no longer exists and is part of a redundant and already top heavy management structure- unless for the reason mentioned earlier.

They have filed an extension to pay order with the courts allowing them a 364 (one day short of a year which is the limit for an extension) to pay the award. If successful that means that expect the pay for the 6th day wont come until just about 1 year from the arbitration award which was about a month ago... What say you FOP?????

This sounds like Jim Deveraux who was a Lt in the 012th dist and retired about 13 years ago... He was a Vietnam veteran who was shot in the arm and recieved a Purple Heart.. By far one of the best bosses I had the pleassure of working for... Don't know if there is any relation to George Deveraux

Please do your homework when selecting our next guy, Dr. Dean as he wants to be called has been carried on the FOP gravy train for years, now he is on disability AND teaches full time at Lewis. He also moved his kid into the FOP with 5 yrs on the job, when his friends were all still there. Its time to call enough is enough with this guy. Hes part of the good ol'boy club that is all retired already. And please, Im not bashing him, just explaining facts that should be known to the members.

They did promote them. Brian Daley & Leo Pannipinto (sp?) were among them. They're both captains now.
