Don't get your panties in a bunch over this, folks.

People where I work are already blabbing about retaining legal representation should they be denied entry come test day for not responding to this email. They're crying about how the city is trying to pull a fast one on us.

They're worked up over NOTHING.

The email (partially) reads as follows:

NEXT REQUESTED STEPS:

"Please confirm your attendance to this examination by e-mailing CPS HR at: ChicagoPD..."

It says REQUESTED step, not REQUIRED step.

Reading's a skill. A skill all aspiring sergeants should possess.

Also send a bcc eMail to "notify the district station supervisor". It isn't in the order but trust me, it's critical for promotional success.

Come on scc, it's every man for himself at this point. No more helping each other out with the sgt. test.

Send an email and also call them! Their phone number is listed in the email you received about the test date and venue. Also their phone number should be listed in the admission letter you received in the mail.

Everyone surely knows some will slip through the cracks and get promoted due to score, but this is the corrupt city many will be promoted clout wise, hey flop why not show who was promoted by merit like weis did? Or are you scared because many are on your friends and family program? Hey mike any contract new? Are we going to or in arbitration? Any of the fop guys want to talk? Nope! Silence is deafening!

I hope so brother! You deserve it. Let's face it, a certain number goes to the insiders, then the rest are the true merit- merit as in you worked your tail off to get that spot and nothing was handed to you.

As a non merit Sgt. of over10 yrs I can only suggest to you taking the test to be familiar with notifications regarding shootings and major incidents. OPS command , I mean CPIC, want to know immediately about any and all shootings. So while there may not be an order on it I wound know it. Also ALWAYS notify the DSS! not the WC they don't exist. Also notify your Filed supervisor. The exempts are real big on notifications. Also be familiar with any school incident plan, although on the last Lt's test there wasn't one question on school incidents, nor was there that much about police shootings. The SURPRISE questions, were about CAPS. Whole lot of them that seemed to come out of
left field. Funny bring is I found this caps sheet with problem solving scenarios laying in the sgts. office. I picked it up and took it with me but didn't pay it much mind. To my detriment, almost all the CAPS questions were from that paper almost verbatim, but Ike I said I didn't pay it much mind, guess that's why I'm still a Sgt. Good luck to all.

Study hard and don't "what if" questions on the test. There are plenty of us that have been promoted on test score alone. If I had to depend on merit I would still be a patrolman.
