Green Bay Favored by 10.5 (Bears Win?)

And we think that might be on the light side. The holes the Bears have to fill are just too many and too large. Barring a miracle, this one could be ugly.

UPDATE: And this is why we don't make a living predicting football games. Miracles do happen.

Besides, we took the 10.5 points on a few small wagers - purely in the interest of making the game interesting - and came away with a few more dolla....matchsticks....more matchsticks than we started the night with.

The Bears are an ultra great team; except, they sometimes make mistakes at the wrong time. But they usually manage to look good while doing bad.

This game looked a lot more interesting when the schedule was drawn up. The "experts" thought the Bears could be contenders.

But the defense is showing its age. Last in the NFL in sacks. No meaningful pass rush. First on depth chart was OK, but no depth.

Then the Lions, Ravens and Rams....sounds like a sinking season.

Packers are hard bit by the injury bug, too. Doesn't seem to matter. They just keep finding another.

And for the first time in many years, the Pack has a good running game. And has a big edge in the QB position.

Bears seem to play well coming off the bye week, on Monday night. But GB has too many weapons and is starting to hit on all cylinders.

Packers 35-20

I heard that they are sending our Crime Lab to Lambeau Field.

Vanecko sold the department a ton of yellow/red, inner/outter perimeter crime scene tape to cover the entire killing field.

Rahm decided that allowing them to wear uniforms with their names on them would save the City about a dollar and thirty cents in toe-tags after they get killed.

(Deep in my heart-of-hearts though, I would love to see them beat and embarrass the Pack)

O.T. Sergeant's Test Prep Companies

There are two companies in the business prepping officers for the upcoming sergeant's exam. Save your money. They are not offering anything new under the sun. If you are serious, save your money and study the materials on your town time. Or with a small group of committed people.

I hope they make another big sergeant's class soon. I know several people who are on the list and it would be great for them. They are good people with no clout, no juice, no family connections. Imagine working hard and then being on that list and to see other people skip over you via "merit". Or imagine others had inside help. It is heartbreaking indeed.

I think the NFL keeps scheduling Da Bears in Prime Time just to embarrass them.

There's no way they don't know that historically Da Bears absolutely suck in front of a national audience. This includes Thanksgiving games against the Lions when they stunk even more than Da Bears -- those games were always a 'maybe'.

But on Monday Night Da Bears have to have the worst record ever of all the teams who've played more than a few games. Then having Da Bears against Green Bay and in Green Bay? And while Da Bears are basically rebuilding with a new staff and players??? That's malicious intent to harm and borders on cruel and unusual punishment.

Bears 31, Packers 24 :-)

To 12:31 : Where do you propose the Bears just find a franchise QB? The good ones are under contract. Have to have the supporting talent. Best way is to draft and develop, but that is easier said than done.

As usual, anytime Bears are on prime time, the commentary sucks, the play by play is biased and the idiot bobblehead gruden is rooting for the damn packers.
that's why I turn down the sound after a quarter and turn up my radio. There's a delay but it beats listening to people cheer for the opposing team when they're supposed to just call the game.

halftime, and because this game isn't going the way gruden wants, the whole halftime show is, guess what?
Still ends up being green bay highlights.

the play of the week will be McCowan's td pass to marshal while being swallowed in the pocket and what do we have to watch all halftime?
rogers shoulder rogers shoulder blah blah blah.

Way off topic. I just got home from a fundraiser at Home Run Inn on 31st. A good guy Sgt is taking 15 days for some BS, really an unfair rip over some BS. My point...the place was packed, old timers, newer guys, Brotherhood for the Fallen guys, retirees, a real cross section of the Dept both Units and districts and all ranks. I'm a retiree and it was HEARTENING to see the old school camaraderie and getting together for a good guy.

I read and hear a lot of negative stuff about the job, a lot of it deserved, some blown up a bit. All that aside, after the showing tonight I know that as always, you all still care about each other and will step up when needed.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Chicago Police Officers are a special group.

Stay safe everybody.

First, the Bears didn't injure Rodgers' throwing arm. It was his left collarbone and last I knew, he threw righty.
Secondly, the Bears were playing with their backup, McCown. Sorry but backup QB's are pretty important in a game as violent as football.
Thirdly, Seneca Wallace is not a rookie, but is 33 yrs old and was drafted by the Seahawks in 2003.

Do a little research before you attempt to comment about a subject you have no clue about.

First off, Rodgers injured his left shoulder...his non-throwing arm. Secondly, Seneca Wallace, Green Bay's backup QB, has been in the League since 2003. He may not have a ton of games played at QB, but he has played the position, even starting, in years past. He can also play WR. I'd hardly call him "inexperienced". Lastly, Detroit is coming here. If the Bears defense plays remotely better than they did in September, then the Bears will be ok.
