Station Transients (UPDATE)

A unique solution to solving the seasonal problem of station lobbies becoming encampments for the homeless and all the disease and vermin that comes with them:

And for individuals:

Someone has a lot of talent - and time on their hands.

Now if the coppers gave free shower facilities, along with clothes washing/drying facilities to the urban nomads, than they would not be dirty, would they?

Mass. scrambling to find housing for its homeless

As numbers hit a record high, state fills shelters, far-off motel rooms

GREENFIELD — Record numbers of homeless families are overwhelming the state’s emergency shelter system, filling motel rooms at the cost to taxpayers of tens of millions of dollars a year.

...An average of nearly 2,100 families a night — an all-time high — were temporarily housed in motel rooms in October, just about equaling the number of families in emergency shelters across the state, according to be the state Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.

...Motels are one of the state’s most expensive options at $82 a night, almost as much as congregate housing’s $100 a night cost. In the past five years, state spending on motels has exploded to more than $46 million from about $1 million in 2008, according to state records

The average motel stay, state housing officials said, is about seven months, although some families live in motels for a year waiting for affordable housing.

just checked out Healthcare.gov for the heck of it.

Holy moley, what a f*cked up scam and mess.

Family plans, ppo, bcbs...
close to a thousand dollars a month with $12,000 annual deductible plus 30-50 dollars co pay per visit and another 30-50 if you see a specialist plus emergency room additional 500 dollars on top of deductible.

This country has been sold a bill of goods.

This joke of a president could've expanded Medicaid/medicare and instead of fighting it out with everybody for "his signature law" for his stupid legacy, should have been concentrating on every possible way to improve jobs and economy so more people could get healthcare insurance plans the most efficient way- with a JOB!

Instead, we have 3 times the approval rate for SSDI, more people on entitlement programs who will never even look for a job, less people paying taxes, an expanded Medicaid plus subsidies for the new law.

And to top it off, guess what? Remember the whole idea of keeping the poor out of emergency rooms because they would now have insurance plans covered by tax dollars and would now be able to make appointments to see a doctor like everyone else?
Not gonna happen becuase the emegency rooms will continue to receive people who are wasting everyone's time and everyone else's money becuase the government is running around frantically trying to sign them up wherever they can get them to sit to fill out forms, schools, on the street, even jails! Because as usual they're not interested.

This stupid law was passed for them (and for Dems to get their hands on all that new funding), and the usual knuckleheads can't even go sign up for their own new goodies.

the city will probably look to get us all inscribed with a federal subsidy, all city and county employees, and state- Watch and see.

Go ahead and say, "not gonna happen," but I bet Rahm's gonna do as the feds did with their employees... carve outs and exemptions but only for so long and only for higher ups.

The federal government offers a marketplace subsidy to offset those high premiums.
The city won't be able to turn down the attractive savings from no longer having to pay all of the remainder of the monthly premium after employee deduction.
According to new law, any family of 4 or more making less than 120,000 annual income gets a subsidy toward cost of Healthcare insurance from marketplace.
I bet Rahm already crunched those numbers to apply our federal credit and sign up everyone that qualifies.
Matter of fact, I bet Blue Cross Blue Shield and the other providers already went along for the ride and for all we know, our plans have already been kept the same but underwritten in accordance with new law and the city's looking at a windfall from the feds' subsidy on behalf of all city employees.

If only it were that easy.

An aside: the coppers that I'd worked with years ago when I was in 011 have always been top notch when compared to those in other places I've had the dis/pleasure of working. They've also elevated the fabled 'Police Humor' to new levels. Nice to see some things haven't changed.

Some shenanigans and pranks are best witnessed in person. Others can be related over beers at a later time without diminishing their comedic content. And thanks to electronics, smart phones and the Internet, we all get to share in hysterical content like this.*

At least the homeless bustouts in THAT lobby somewhat earn their keep - appearing time to time as unwitting and uncompensated extras in the day-to-day comedy that is existence on the CPD. "Penny's Podroom" pictures, with the bums sprawled out on the floor, tables and chairs of TrahanASS's baby, will forever be in my Top 5 for creative fuckery (anyway you might be able to re-run them from the archives, SCC)?

You are correct...someone has some talent over in 011. Keep the hits coming, Fillmore.

OK, funny, ha-ha...

Now there's a bigger mess to clean up.

Might be all right thing to do if Rahm or McFuck-up walks in. If either one of them had been in 'Nam they would have been fragged.

What would really be a good video would be a Soylent Green truck coming in to make a removal.

But, none of this fantasy will ever happen because all these "transients" are Democratic voters.

******

BTW Social Scientists often refer to suck people as these as "habitués".

(ha•bit•u•é (as in habit-u-a)
noun, plural noun: habitués
1. a resident of or frequent visitor to a particular place.)

The scientists often find that these people, mostly men are second and third generation "habitués"

But most cops just refer to them as "sons of habitués".

DETROIT -- The largest city in American history to file for bankruptcy protection is officially bankrupt.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes ruled Tuesday that Detroit is eligible for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection, allowing city officials to negotiate in court with bondholders, pension funds, unions and other stakeholders. Many say that bankruptcy is the only way the city can attempt to settle its debts, which have been estimated as high as $18 billion.

...and what's our mayor up to?

Emanuel mum on city pension fix

Mayor Rahm Emanuel today declined to say whether he got a specific pledge from legislative leaders to deal with the city’s pension mess, even as the Illinois legislature is preparing to vote in Springfield today on a state pension reform package that does not address the city’s shortfall.

The city’s pension funds for city workers, laborers, police officers and firefighters are $19.5 billion short. The mayor has been seeking some help from Springfield to address the shortfall that looms as a major budget problem next year. It was thought the city might try to piggyback on a state solution. That’s unlikely to happen today, however.

What a coincidence, I was in the Harrison Station for a meeting and saw those two men spending the night there. The DHS instructs people to go to the nearest police station and have them call them and someone will pick them up and take them to a homeless shelter. The video was funny. I wish I could do that to the hoodlums.

"just checked out Healthcare.gov for the heck of it.

What most people don't realize about the "Affordable" Health Care Act is that it isn't for you and I.

It's isn't for those who currently have health care.

It's aim was to insure the uninsured (current & future democrats)...on our dime.

We're going to subsidize the insurance for the rest.

I have a counter offer for the ACA: How about all those interested in providing health care for the uninsured *personally* pay the insurance for one, two, ten, or however many people that they want to "adopt".

Every month they'll get a letter from their insuree, talking about his/her inability to find work, how he/she "caught a case" (is that like catching a cold?), and how "the man" continues to keep him down.

This way all the do-gooders can have a personal hand in saving humanity, or whatever the Hell they think they're doing, without bothering the rest of us.

I'm a lot older than 9 and to me a Mac is two all beef patties, special sauce...

So if you have a nine year old around can you get him/her to make a video of Rahm's head exploding when he talks about screwing with our pensions or about how more police are on the street.

(The crew of the movie JAWS gave the mechanical shark they used a name.
