Cop Wounded

  • A Chicago Police officer was shot in the face Sunday night on the South Side, according to a hospital employee where the officer was undergoing treatment.

The 42-year-old officer, identified only as a man, suffered a gunshot wound to the bridge of his nose while in the 2700 block of East 92nd Street about 8:45 p.m., according to Charico Santiago, the nursing supervisor at Advocate Trinity Hospital. Santiago had few details, but said the officer was at the South Side hospital and that he was awake, talking and “stable.”

Chicago Police had no information about the shooting.
Best wishes to the wounded Officer.

UPDATE: Search Warrant.

get well officer. And please people, stop trying to exploit this story on facebook trying to convince people how dangerous this job is and trying to play up how "tough" of a job you have... Your not the ones sitting in a hospital bed shot. You dont have to post all over facebook about asking for all your non police friends to "send prayers for the officer" etc... We all want him to be ok. We all watch the news. We dont need all the super facebook cops playing it up on facebook to make them look like they have such a dangerous job to the non police friends... they get off on the comments. This is about the copper who is hurt not any of you. Stop posting the link to the tribune, stop talking all about it etc.. watch the news, pray for the officer in private and call/text your police friends for info... Cops and facebook dont mix.. get well officer, you and your family and fellow officers who were with you are in my prayers.

I realize you mean well and speedy recovery to our brother. If you were at the search warrant, I'll listen to you, if you've done some search warrants, I might listen to you. If you've never done a search warrant, then forget it. We don't know what happened there yet. Going slow and cautious doesn't always help. Yes, sometimes being quick can help fellow officers. I don't know what happened, so I'm not commenting bout it. Maybe, just maybe he was going slow and cautious.

The ambulance was rerouted from Christ to Northwestern because he had a head wound and Northwestern specializes in head wounds and traumatic brain injury. It was the right call by some very aware medical people. Good move, just in case it was worse than it appeared. Boy does he have a story now! And he better stop by the lottery machine before the next big one, I'm giving him $10 to get me a ticket too.

I haven't had a Facebook account since day one and never will. The whole concept is beyond retarded. Privacy is a priceless treasure and all FB does is ensure you have none.

Now here is one point you had right. You said that "Cops and facebook dont mix" and I agree there.

Christ was on bypass...the ambo was not re-routed in transit, it was still at trinity. I know, I helped block traffic in route to Northwestern. He was in good condition and stable, there was no need to rush, it was just a transport to a better hospital.

I learned about this through Facebook before it was in the news and maybe the extra prayers by anyone (even non police officers) would help the situation. If you don't like it so much, delete your Facebook account. Relax Francis, you'll feel better.

Why, oh why, do I think this must have something to do with JG putting something up on his fb page? Are you that same person who stalks him and reports every time he posts something to fb? The one who should get a life is you.
Cops stand by each other when this kind of thing happens, whether we work in the same unit or city or just the same line of work. We always will, because, as you so eloquently prove, we have no one but ourselves - and God - to turn to in our time of need. If you don't like it when one of our own asks for prayers FOR one of our own, MOVE THE HELL ON.

On a search warrant absolutely.

If things go to shit, try to stay calm and LEAD your radio transmission with "Emergency" and state your location, give what went down next and finish with location again.

Always lead with the location.

We can all tell it is an emergency, let help be on the way before you start jawing with the dispatcher. "Emergency" and tone of voice will let everyone know you need help. Location after Emergency, please when seconds count.
