Someone finally noticed that 019 was down 120 coppers from full strength before the merge. Yes, there was a lot of redundant spots that could (and should) have been eliminated once the Districts combined, and McCarthy shouldn't have made the blind promises he did about "not losing one officer." That was just plain dumb. But nearly one-third leaving/retiring in a year? Something is fishy up north.

OMG! 12 new friends to meet in the near future! It has been a sad time watching my comrades in arms leaving in record numbers but now there will be new faces to meet! To those new people let me fill you in on what's happening:
1. Inspector Expressway is gone. Yes XO Ryan is no longer around and neither is his comely gal pal. XO Looney has taken control and things are better run! Welcome to the Looney bin!
2. The 6... No 5... No... 4... Well 4ish tact teams are still up and rolling! See all the old 023 tact teams are up and at full strength and untouchable. The old 023 tact lieutenant sees to it, so if you want tact forget those teams. The three old 019th district teams.., one whole team sent to the area... Never seen again... One team assigned to stand on Clark street in the middle of brawls with a rambunctious sergeant who does try to contain the chaos... Most of that team bid out if the district... The rest have been reassigned to take over for the old disbanded burglary team... The last team... Unknown where they are anytime... I mean it, I think most of that team is actually not sure where they are at any given time.
3. Days... Understaffed and dangerously low manpower levels.. Folks you are on your own on this watch... Remember your training
4. Afternoons... Very clickish if you don't have an in you will also be 99 each tour... Also forget back up its unheard of
5. Midnights... Well staffed for the moment but filled with medical abusers and crybabies. One guy is still IOD since august for drinking spoiled milk on duty, yes you read that right.
6. Cubs season... This ain't the Southside this is wrigleyville meaning forget moving in traffic from opening day till October. Also if anyone wins anything expect near riots to deal with on Clark street
7. Gay pride parade... If you don't know how bad it is then just do it one year... You'll never be the same!

The owner of Andersonville Wine & Spirits on the NE corner of Foster and Clark St (5201 N. Clark St.), had an altercation with my wife yesterday. This Middle-Eastern POS, and his son, were dumping snow from the front of his garage into the front of ours when I wasn't there. More correctly, the owner was sitting back in his Mercedes Benz while his son was starting to bury our garage.
My wife confronted them about it and demanded the son move the snow he had already put there. When he started to comply, his dad came out of the car and screamed at his son that THEY do not take orders from "American bitches" and then they BOTH decided to get in her face and call her all kinds of "American whores" and "We don't take orders from you fucking American women".
A neighbor, hearing all this, came out and went to her defense and told them to cool it because her husband is a cop, and the Osama guy started with "So what! I hate fucking cops! Fucking COPS! I HATE THEM!"
Just thought my friends and any Brothers and Sisters in 020 should know who you're dealing with out of Andersonville Wine & Spirits.
They hate women and they hate cops. What a surprise.
Truth be told, they most likely despise ALL Americans, while they become wealthy selling us products they can't sell in their homeland.
They are absolutely on my boycott list.
The real problem is not the merger its the shitheads that are hanging out on Clark street. Our brothers in 019 and 023 were living the good life until recently. Now that they have to get their hands dirty they all want out.
Something fishy in 019? That's an understatement. The place sucks to work in! Yes the leadership is poor but it's a nightmare with the nearly 200 bars. The place goes up for grabs with drunken brawls every night. There's no manpower and the so called entertainment teams hardly work. Myself and dozens of others left for a better environment. I feel sorry for those still there who can't leave. Cubs have a lot more night games, more concerts at Wrigley, more pub crawls, fests and parades. Good luck!

019 is a very pretty district. My friends hang out there a lot.
019 has lost lots of officers for multiple reasons.
1. The station takes 20 minutes longer to get to than the old 019
2. The tact guys from the old 019 have been treated like red headed step children. They have been bidding out left and right.
3. Between 019 and 023 you had a large group of old timers . They are retiring by the truckload.
4. The inside spots have gone almost exclusively to the 023 officers. The 019 house mouses have bid out or retired.
5. The officers from 019 and 023 were always like oil and vinegar with each other. They didn't mix. They still don't. Roll calls still are still divided (though not as bad as before). The old 019 people sit on one side of the room and the old 023 people sit on the other. The old 019 crew doesn't like the situation and have bid out.
Theres just one major issue with the exodus of 019 district--Management !
Must be a reason everyone is bailing out of that place. Wonder if there is gonna be 12 officers to find out why?
All you guys do is complain. You guys need to look on the bright side. There is a class of Sergeants that is going to be announced this Friday. There is a Detective's test coming up. We just had a Sergeant's test. With all these opportunities, you guys need to lift yourselves up by your boot straps. Learn to do your job.

There is nothing wrong with 019. Some people left to be closer to home,others retired, and some were promoted. Yes, we do have a lot of bars, but we also have quiet nights. For the MOST part, we have good bosses. HOWEVER, if you live in upper 016, getting to 019 sucks NO MATTER WHAT TIME OR SHIFT. this area is one of the most congested (with pedestrians, vehicles, bicycles, strollers, scooters, people walking dogs, and I have even seen a few people walking their cats). So, remember that IT TAKES TIME TO DRIVE INTO THE DISTRICT, AND WITHIN THE DISTRICT. BUT IT IS STILL BETTER THAN DEALING WITH ALL THE B.S. OUT SOUTH! GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NEWCOMERS!

Well. with a couple hundred detectives there, yes, the lights are on and the building must be heated and cooled. That bs about cost-saving was just part of the excuse to do whatever the hell they wanted to do with the Department. The other was McMalfunctioningAbacus' promise that not one officer would be cut when they combined the two districts.

If came with an Belmont name tag, you are treated second class. 023 only cares about the 023 police (who are mainly, misfit, broken toys) horrible place to work. The Cmdr, and Tact LT (who don't like each other) are two bosses who know zero about leadership. Happy to watch the future train wreck from afar.

If that business is making your life miserable and insists on using ethnicity/culture/gender as harassment or intimidation and puts you in any fear whatsoever, I'd advise reporting it as such, including all threats and epitaphs in your complaint. Video and audio (make it known you're recording) any hostile encounter in the future.
Being a resident and citizen of this city even as a first responder, you are entitled to the same protections.
In the meantime...be creative and get even, there are many ways to report business irregularities, sanitation issues and building codes.

None of the 019 Lt's came with to the combined district. All of them were scattered to other districts. One retired. One to 008 and he eventually made it back.
We only had Cmdr K. He didn't pay much (any) attention to the blue shirts. All Lt's were 023. Then a load of sergeants also got shipped out. 019 blue shirts were sucking hind tit from the start. I saw the way things wee going and got out. No thanks.

Guess which time due slips dont get used 023 guess who leaves early 023 and I can go on and on. The commander believes this is not happening but he wasnt here for the merge and doesnt really know who was from where. The tact Lt is the biggest goof in the city lets the tact team make arrests for selling cigarettes on the corner while you cant park a car on the street overnite then rewards the officers by letting them go home early. 2nd watch on weekends always has cars and wagons down with backlogs. They have the gay/lesbian flag in the window but not the American flag. And the biggest joke is guess who gets the most Police service uptown while the high tax payers receive the least. Hey commander maybe those officers that bid for 3rd watch KS, KF, Ka that work days you should put them where they bid where they belong on 3rd watch.

1 less commander 4 less LTs 12 less Sgts 3 less beats Not one rapid for the area of 2 districts. We have less manpower in this merge than 019 had in the 90s. But the shakey idiot sgts think by clearing you from your jobs that will correct the problem. A 5yr old kid could tell you the problem and its a shortage of manpower. We had 96 bid spots on 2nd with the merge now there are 71. clueless

--Please don't be "that guy," I worked up North and went south and I am glad that I did. Don't get me wrong, we are comparing two different animals here. Yea ok. !!! I work on the far south side for a few years finally made it north to 019 it was great til I turned the corner and found myself in uptown holy fuck it's just like the south side you have your warring gangs open air drug markets whores ( men and women ) fucking violent mentals walking around all day and night so I said shit !!! I thought I left the ghetto so I jumped in the car and went to hang out by wriggly I mean the people around there must be civilized right ? So as I'm sitting there I see dude run out of the mcdonalds on Clark and some yuppie broad comes running out behind him screaming " he stole my phone , he stole my phone " so me thinking you fucking mutt preying on a good law abiding tax paying citizen I spring into action chase dude down he puts up a fight and lost bad I get her phone back asked to sign complaints and she refused WHAT ????? Then sarge gets on scene and mrs. Yuppie tells him the way I went about the whole thing was a little excessive and although she was very grateful that I was able to retrieve her phone she would like to see p.o.'s use a little more diplomacy than violent tactics when dealing with the less fortunate citizens out here after all if he had help he wouldn't be stealing things from people to survive . Every day you show up for work they are doing you a favor by allowing you to be there. If you are assigned to a car don't expect to be on that car if a 023 person wants it. If you ask to work with someone they will purposely not put you with that person. If they know you don't like a certain car that's where they will put you. It's a giant test of wills and they have won by running a lot of coppers out. Oh yes and be prepared to work 99 everyday. At least in the ghetto they are happy to see you. I am not saying I need a welcome party every day but if you ask anybody for anything there you are putting them out. People avoid the front desk like the plague. Then you have the whacky bosses who act like when they sign your td slip they are giving you a free day off and make comments on how you really shouldn't be taking off or getting the day off. Not to mention if you go to work and do your job effectively and productively that bothers the sgts also, they would rather have you just not exist. If you are a working copper from the old 019 you may as we'll be invisible as you watch every 023 district dog leave early, get taken care of on safe passage, the desk, a early car, or a foot post. The only detail old 019 people have is rhams house and they like that because they don't have to go int 019 east and see the look of annoyance every time you walk into the building. I don't know any copper that would be happy about seeing Rham day. So yes in reality 019 should be an awesome place to work, great neighborhoods, great restaurants, and great people watching. It's not though. Maybe it will be different for the new people transferring in because they are not from the old 019. I hope it is for those officers sake.

3. Days... Understaffed and dangerously low manpower levels.. Folks you are on your own on this watch... Remember your training
4. Afternoons... Very clickish if you don't have an in you will also be 99 each tour... Also forget back up its unheard of
5. Midnights... Well staffed for the moment but filled with medical abusers and crybabies. One guy is still IOD since august for drinking spoiled milk on duty, yes you read that right.
6. Cubs season... This ain't the Southside this is wrigleyville meaning forget moving in traffic from opening day till October. Also if anyone wins anything expect near riots to deal with on Clark street
7. Gay pride parade... If you don't know how bad it is then just do it one year... You'll never be the same!

I was in 023 when the district split after Belmont & Western took over the west end that district was fucking great lots of good guys great to go to work . I can't believe what has happened to this once great city and Police Dept. but it smells like daley. You are mistaken. No 019 Lt.'s went in the merge. Of all the 019 sgts that went, most were gone within 6 months. Also, they have a sgt at Belmont and Western, so that's one less on the street per watch.
Sad, old 019 was a great district. 023 always a hovel of degeneracy.

I look at the sheets for all three watches and the 019 coppers that worked certain beats stayed on their beats. They were not taken off their cars.
