According to numerous other e-mails, more than a couple officers left To-From reports relating that Aldercreature Jason "Strippers" Ervin was threatening the commander's appointment and was not at all happy that Commander Evans wasn't kissing his ass - an all-day job if you've ever seen Ervin.
Barb West continues to prove what a tool she is, running interference for politicians. Between 015 and 010, it's hard to know which is the least respected exempt on this Department.
As a friendly reminder, running the listed RD number for non-police purposes is a violation of the Rules and Regulations and you will be suspended should the Department make it stick.

Gonna tell an old school story. Years ago in 020 we had a Commander terrible Tommy Kiernan, he was to put it mildly crude and obnoxious, at times he could be an embarrassment and often was, however he had his moments.
During a heated debate with the community(pre pre pre caps) over prostitution in 020, one of the do gooders got up and pressed his case for the legalization of the worlds oldest profession. He cited all the good liberal thinking reasons why it was a harmless crime how the police victimized the working girls, how they provided a service that some people wanted and needed, and that the police had in his opinion better things to do ith their time. At the end of hois disertation Kiernan asked if he was through, he replied he was Kiernan looks at the guy and asks if he has a daughter, the fool answers yes, Kiernan then says great bring her down here we'll sign her up as the first legal prostitute and see how much money she make. The guy stood there redfaced and sputtering before slinking out of the meeting.

since the beginning of time
OT- saw the first part of the new documentary "chicagoland" last night. They have that coconut head rahm plastered all over the place, doing interviews with him and the supe. Focal point was on gangs/school closings/ghetto drama; was disappointed that they never expose the lack of manpower and equipment and deplorable conditions of first responders and emergency personnel facilities, but it's an 8 part series so maybe they'll save it for the finale. They also do extensive interviews with the principal of Fenger H.S. and my jaw dropped when she said they got a federal grant for something like $6 million, which they spend on hiring additional staff, including "home advocates" which are people that basically go to these students' homes to provide additional services. So now taxpayers not only pay for breakfast, lunches, iPads, police escort home, education, they pay for social workers to go home with these kids to make sure they do their homework. And of course, the principal is worried about what they will do when the money runs out. It's an outrage that tax money is spent to do the job that a parent should be doing because a segment of the population has become so dependent on assistance in every aspect of their being that they cannot wipe their own asses without help.
I saw the preview for next weeks Chicagoland and saw ric flair wearing the ranger insignia on his uniform. I think that is really disrespectful to the real Army Rangers that have served and have died who actually earned that incredible distinction. If you want to let everyone know what a hard ass you are because you work in the wood, wear a wood log on your chest or make something else up because it's embarrassing.
It's like wearing the lambert tree award ribbon when you never received it.

Given the lengthy laundry list of present or former aldermen and their staffs currently on bond awaiting trial, those currently doing time for their cases in the pokey and those who did their “bits” serving out their sentences in the federal penitentiary, one could argue based on the track record of this criminal organization d.b.a., “The Chicago City Council”, is eligible for R.I.C.O. prosecution strategies. Alderman Ervin, as a documented self-admitted member of a known criminal organization, commands respect under the GRVS. Officers in their interactions must adhere to the following new policing strategy procedural justice principles: 1). Giving others a voice (listening) 2.) Neutrality in decision making 3.) Respectful treatment; and 4.) Trustworthiness. Ervin could argue he belongs to the city council with a history of charges of undocumented money transfers, business license peddling, license shakedowns, misappropriation and subsequent disappearance of public funds, influence peddling, municipal vice ordinance violations, ethics violations, municipal contract steering, tax evasion, bribery, gun ordinance violations to name a few which qualifies the council as a rogue criminal organization. The city council thugs have a defined leadership structure routinely involved in behind the scenes and off the books criminal activities. Police officers when dealing with members of the legally organized gangstas of the city council, must adhere and exercise those four principles of procedural justice without prejudice. I’m sorry Cmdr. Evans, Alderman Ervin has a compelling argument for an obvious violation of the GRVS general order.

So now taxpayers not only pay for breakfast, lunches, iPads, police escort home, education, they pay for social workers to go home with these kids to make sure they do their homework. And of course, the principal is worried about what they will do when the money runs out. It's an outrage that tax money is spent to do the job that a parent should be doing because a segment of the population has become so dependent on assistance in every aspect of their being that they cannot wipe their own asses without help."

1) If the community had a legitimate problem, he dealt with it.
2) Not unusual to see him in plain clothes under a dashboard on street stop.
3) He backed up his officers.

When I was in 019 about 26 years ago I was on a beat car and the WC, Capt. McCarthy, called for a uniformed PO. I got sent. I got there and there is a tact team and Capt. McCarthy in uniform holding a sledge hammer.
He looked at me and said "we're going in this place, the guy is a drug dealer." Then the Captain knocked the door off it's hinges.
That was the day I met Capt. McCarthy. He name checked all the shoe shine guys making a living shining copper's shoes and many of them would get locked up on warrants. He didn't care about our shoe shines. All past graduates of Shine King on the west side, Madison and Pulaski I believe.
He and Sgt LD would ride around stopping people, doing name checks and locking them up. That was their entertainment.
For people saying that the honeymoon will end and we'll all be pissed when Evans starts wanting more activity....Have you ever thought that the dip in activity was partially due to the fact that we haven't had a real leader here in years? Nobody has had our backs. We have had a bunch of sheep who have spent more time on their knees in front of the reverends, higher ups, and aldermen, than they have trying to accomodate the basic needs of the blue shirts. Nobody here expects the bosses to kiss our assess. We just want someone we can put a little faith into. If Evans is proving to be the guy then maybe things here will improve a little. We have very few good sergeants (although all of the bad ones think they are God's gift to the CPD) and two bad lieutenants. We need someone that people are happy to go out there and work for. I hope Evans is the guy.
Burb copper here. I took a class with Glen Evans a few years ago. At first look it was WTF. After getting to know him, he's a true copper and lives his troops. He would tell stories and get emotional about coppers getting hurt. Claudell Ervin tried his hand as a Burb Chief and was useless. Couldn't make a decision to save his life. And religion on the job sucks coming from a guy like him. Well done Glen. By the number of posts here you are a respected Boss.
