SW Side Shooting
Television reports have the usual whining from the family about how police didn't need to shoot him - he was only one man. If that's true, why even bother calling the police? Handle it yourselves:
- Authorities were investigating a police-involved shooting in the Gage Park neighborhood this evening.
The Independent Police Review Authority was notified of a shooting that took place about 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 50th Street this evening, said IPRA spokesman Larry Merritt.
IPRA investigators were dispatched to the scene.
There was no indication that police officers were injured in the incident.
Police News Affairs did not immediately have details.
Knife-wielding assailant is dead after threatening numerous family members and the police. Cops are uninjured. News media is saying there may have been a TASER malfunction. If true, so what? The only backup to a malfunctioning TASER is your firearm and if there's a knife involved, deadly force is perfectly legal by State Law.

I don't read SCC much, but you're right on the money with this one. 'Knife wielding assailant?' A taser shouldn't even have been utilized, it's not meant for use in subduing armed assailants. Glad the cops are ok.
So sorry for the family's loss, but when you call the police to report these kinds of incidents, when the cops arrive, they take over. And their tactics don't include cajoling armed violent assailants.

FYI Leo from Matrix works part time at police academy now, the new kids on the force dodge bullets with their nimble bodies like you've never seen before.
The offender's step-father challenged the police to take off their gun belts and answer to him if they had the guts. I just have to wonder:
Why did the family call the police? Why didn't they have the offender's brave step-father mediate the situation?
He also talked about guts. What kind of guts did your step-son display when he was beating his girlfriend? He was under an order of protection. Why didn't the step-father do a better job teaching his son how to act like a man?
When Me and my partner shot and killed an asshole with a knife during a domestic, the family, which was white, couldn't stop thanking me and my partner enough for saving their lives. There's the difference.

Ask any recruit about hand to hand defense when the assailant has a knife. They give one recruit a rubber 'knife' and tell the other to defend against it and count how many times they're cut in thirty seconds.
Ask the guy who taught us in the scenarios back in the day how well that went for him when he was cut straight across both palms taking the knife out of an offender's hand.
Knife gets you shot. Period.

You answered your own question there. "They do it in the movies and on TV."
This is the real world. It's not a game.
We are severely under trained in all physical and tactical aspects. It's cheaper for the city to have an officer injured or killed than actually properly train us. Proper training needs constant upkeep. We receive a few hours of physical skills training in the academy and then are left on our own for the rest of our careers.
As for a knife wielding assailant, even an officer highly trained will get probably get cut disarming someone. A knife is lethal force, it should be met with lethal force. Disarming should be an absolute last resort only if caught by surprise and cannot get to your firearm.
I truly hope you are an internet troll and not someone seriously asking this question.

Also even funnier how often I stop a shit bag in the street who talks about calling IPRA after poor police service and has the number in his/her phone. Funny how my same friend had no clue what IPRA was.

We are tired of this shit with your crazy fucking knucklehead relatives, and when we are threatened with bodily harm, we ARE going home in one piece.
