Gun Shop Ordinance Moves Forward

  • Gun shops would be allowed but kept out of most parts of Chicago and required to videotape every sale to prevent straw purchases, under a mayoral plan advanced Wednesday to satisfy a federal judge.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was under the gun to meet a court-ordered July 14 deadline to allow gun shops. He responded with sweeping regulations he considers the toughest in the nation.

On Wednesday, the City Council’s Committee on Public Safety approved those rigid regulations with no illusions that it will stop the bloodbath on Chicago streets.

“I wish it could [make a difference] but, no it won’t. . . . You don’t control guns. We’re not controlling where they come from. All these kids — they get them. You just can’t stop that,” said Ald. Emma Mitts (37th). “You don’t know where they pick them up and who’s getting them to who and when they throw them away, who else gets them. Guns be used over and over again.”
So why pass it? Why not figure out who is doing the straw buying? If a gun isn't stolen (which most seem to be), there's a point of purchase. Find that purchaser, figure out why they didn't report the gun missing. If they're lying about it, imprison them, say for 10 years. That'll put dent in the straw purchasers pretty quick if the word gets out people are actually getting 10 years for buying a gun and failing to keep track of it.

The NRA has agreed on this many times - enforce the laws that are already on the books before passing something else that even the idiots in government are saying won't work.

The video recording of the purchase is a silly prophylactic gesture. Why do it when there is a major paper trail on the transaction?

I really don't see any businessman that would want to open a gun store in Chicago. There are going to be so many silly rules, regulations, inspections and payoffs. Too many hoops to jump through. Especially when Niles is being very accommodating.

It's all about politics and votes. Keeping the dumocrats in office who have ruined Chicago. Nothing about reality.
You can buy a gun anywhere and bring it into Chicago.

City and mayor have to pass new tough, but ineffective, gun store law to show that they are trying, that they care. It is all symbolism. Add to that, they are anti-gun.

Don't worry, Obama said he is getting ready to take executive action, outside of Congress, on guns.
Australia style.

"Guns be used over and over"!!!!!!From one of our elected official? Running the City and can't even grasp a simple concept like sentence structure?

Our Aldermen have more responsibility for the violence in the City than ANY firearms dealer. I have dealt with Alderwoman Mitts. She was put in place by Ike Carothers so the machine could control the vote. She is not just clueless, she is dumb. There nothing wrong with having limited intelligence, unless you are being used as a tool. She is a toll, as is everyone that votes for her. This is the Democratic machine in Chicago at it's finest.

That is the most intelligent thing Emma Mitts has ever said.

Too bad her actions don't match her words.

Because Chicago wants to be the tops in idiots when it comes to gun regulations we have ranges that are just collecting dust when the city could be collecting money doing IROCC these are p/o's who have carried weapons for the last 20 to 40 years have carried weapons during employment for the city or suburbs surrounding it maybe someone will see the light better yet leave it to Niles.

Why bother with these red tape laden City gun shops ? Any shop outside the County will do . Prices will be way too high when they jump through all the hoops.
Example new Glock $495 in Will county. Only 1 hour from the City.

And every person who goes into one of these chi-town gun shops should wear one of these:

They can say they'll imprison for 20 years, it will not matter unless they actually sentence them for the 20 years and not improperly let them out early. Here's the scenerio, dude does not report gun lost/stolen he's dead to rights, ASA goes to him "you can get 20 years for this,, but if you plead guilty to misdemeanor possession of a BB gun we will give you a slap on the wrist and a $50 fine."
We can have the toughest laws on the books but when they do not properly judicate these laws and have correct sentencing they don't mean squat.

Who in their right minded would open a gun shop in Chicago? Regulation will kill you. Plus, you can guarantee you'll get robbed due to lack of police and no lack of shitbirds. Niles has got it right. Grab Chicago business while not having to comply with Chicago regulations.

Ten years in prison for a straw purchase is a start. But it should also be full time served and in a prison far away from Illinois.

Sorry would be Chicago entrepreneurs, but instead of putting up with yet more of Rahm's fuckery, I'm taking my business to Niles.
I've never been there, but I intend to check out local businesses to maybe do a little shopping and check out that pizza restaurant someone mentioned.
Once again Rahm and his tax-aholics have driven me to take my money elsewhere.

Who cares! With all the restrictions on gun shops in Chicago! You would be a fool to buy anything in Chicago anyway! No taxes for Chicago or Cook County!!!

It is easier and better to go to another area and spend your money like everything else!

I always buy my products outside the city and county limits and If I make it to Indiana, my trunk is full of least taxed items and more of it!

The prospective gun store has to donate to the Rahm Emanual's cartel then Rahm the Rat will give them TIF money like he did for Vienna Beef and Buena Beef Companies.

Just like Daley. They know they can't do anything about it, but they can preserve their jobs by keeping people scared and simultaneously saying "our hands are tied, Washington won't let us ban these evil instruments of war".

Why pass it?

Because the socialists are stupid and demand an idiotic stance on a dead issue. That's why. They still want to be able to say that they are anti-gun when they know their constituents disagree with them.

Their constituents disagree with them because of they know of their political maters' gross hypocrisy. They ALL own guns when they spew their rhetoric and it's wearing thin.

Hey SCC.

Get a load of this.

We have good news and we have bad news.

"...But a new census report also released today said that Cook County gained only 27,500 jobs, an increase of 1.1 percent, between December 2012 and December 2013, which was the smallest increase among the 10 largest counties.

By comparison, statewide employment was up 1.0 percent during that time and jobs grew 1.8 percent nationwide.

AND....

Average weekly wages in Cook County declined 1.0 percent to $1,174 over the same period, while McHenry County wages were down 8.8 percent, the largest drop in Illinois and nearly the largest drop in the nation

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20140619/NEWS02/140619760/working-for-less-or-not-working-illinois-job-gains-weak

Did you catch it?

Cook county added 1.1 percent more jobs AND the avg. wages for those jobs DECREASED by 1 percent.

WOW, that is some exploding growth when it comes to tax revenue eh?

Think about that cook county job growth rate at half the rate the nation is growing.

Then think about the creative accounting used to come up with the 27,500 new jobs over the year. (about what...2,300 per month?)

Ya think all these companies that moved to Chicago from the burbs for tax breaks were counted as new jobs?

What would the job creation picture look like without those moves?

This b.s. is promoted like there is opportunity here. Oh look they created a lousy 27,500 jobs when in essence the jobs were likely all transfers of already filled positions.

And with regard to the wage declines. Heh, that speaks volumes about Rahm's Digital Labs and Midwest High Tech corridor FAILURE!

We are all running on borrowed time in this city. Don't think for a moment that our job is safe because they will always need police. That may be true but that doesn't mean that our standard of living will stay the same. That also doesn't mean that we will be the ones doing the job.

Did anyone else catch this SunTimes article the other day.

"Emanuel hails Supreme Court ruling in case of ex-cop’s straw gun purchase"

This is the link to the article
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/28120480-761/emanuel-hails-supreme-court-ruling-in-case-of-ex-cops-straw-gun-purchase.html

The article talks about a Virginia cop that purchased a firearm for his uncle. The cop bought it so he could get the police price for it. A licensed gun dealer transferred the firearm to the uncle after the uncle passed the background check.
The problem was the cop lied on the form stating he was buying the gun for himself.

Rahm thinks that this is a good example of a straw purchase. The ones they should go after are people buying guns, then selling them to gang members without the necessary transfers and background checks.

"He responded with sweeping regulations he considers the toughest in the nation."

How come he has the 'toughest in the nation" but keeps having more crime than most of the nation?

Shouldn't he see maybe it's cause and effect? The more stringent he gets the worst the crime is.

Down here we have lower crime rates but maybe the most 'lax in the nation' ordinances.

The Democrat (Communist) Politicians are too lazy and too stupid to assure that Firearms Laws on the Books are properly enforced by competent Leadership, and instead take the Lazy Mans Way Out every time, by attempting to create more redundant (and frequently Un-Constitutional) FirearmsLaws, which, if they get passed, they puff-out and thump their chests, like they've actually done something, which they haven't. Then, they fail to assure that their new Laws are effectively enforced. Round and Round, the Democrat Circle-Jerk Goes, all the while wasting tons of Middle-Class Taxpayer Dollars, and accomplishing nothing, except letting the incompetent Democratspad their pocketswith Tax Dollars, and be allowed to continue with their Lazy-Man Scams. Meanwhile, pofesiobal Criminal Felons, Drug Dealers, and Gang Banging Thugs ALL still have plenty of illegal Guns, and Law-Abiding Firearm Owners have to worry about Gestapo-type Police usurping their Second Amendment Rights.

They don't get it. You can have all the gun laws you want. The beast doesn't care about any laws. If the get caught its the price of doing business and they deal with it. Its just another day in the life of wild dogs. Like someone said if anyone opens a gun shop in Chicago be prepared to declare bankruptcy in short notice.
