Smart Move - To the Burbs
Here's someone who's going to make some money fulfilling a need that Rahm is actively acting against:
- The Niles Plan Commission and Zoning Board voted in favor of a proposed gun range for the village’s manufacturing district.
Sportsman’s Club and Firearms Training Academy would feature an 11,800 square foot firing range and 2,500 square feet of retail space at 6143 Howard St. The range would also feature secure gun storage, gun classes and would eventually solicit individual shooters and organizations, like Olympic rifle shooting clubs, to use their facilities.
Right on the border of the city, zoned industrial area, none of the City bullshit about "500 feet" from whatever.A full service range, they're even going to assist in training suburban departments who might not have adequate facilities...a "good neighbor" outreach. And Rahm is actively chasing these types of taxpaying endeavors away.

Donald Trump would make a terrible mayor, but he he could outspend Rahm in the election and split the white asshole vote.
Rahm and Trump would both lose and we might get someone decent.
Someone who would hire more police, stop stupid spending and take care of the pension mess.

For a little "community outreach," how about assistance to the most vulnerable population -- the elderly and handicapped? Stock of FOID and CCW forms, help in filling them out, cheap camera/printer to provide necessary photos, etc.
Perhaps some other public-spirited outfit could contribute a medi-van-type service one or two days a week?
Many "services" might as well be on the dark side of the moon for people with no family/transportation of their own.
Can't believe that getting hammered to death in your own home by deranged catch-and-release repeat-violent-offender parolees goes by the board. That ought to be the "controversial issue," not Grandma tossing a few hot CCI .22 LR to save her life.

To those who may operate this range please, please let Law Enforcement shoot from the holster. Practice makes perfect. For the life of me I don't understand why a majority of the ranges in the area do not let LEO's practice shooting from the holster, it makes no sense. IL Gun on Grand and Harlem would let us shoot from the holster but they are gone and replaced by ShitDonalds. A lot of the ranges don't allow double tap or rapid shooting, I know they have to be concerned about safety but design the range so it can accommodate practical/actual shooting techniques.

Also, a gun range is going to be built in Bolingbrook. Near 355. Fuck Chicago.

Okay, I heard a bad rumor yesterday which I really hope is not true and only somebody spreading false rumors. Can anyone confirm or debunk that rapper "Chief Keef" bought a condo at 63rd St and Harlem? This a police/fire/city worker neighborhood and the condo complex I heard he bought in is pretty nice with police officers living in the complex. After watching how he was recently evicted from the north burbs and making residents lives miserable there, I hope this p.o.s. is not moving to the west end of 008 where many of us have no choice, due to outdated residency rules, to call home.
Maybe it's time to bring back 'Cash for Clunkers.'
If I had the money I would open a range along 65th St between Central and Harlem in Bedford Park.

Sorry to be off the topic but just found out several scams being pulled on the SWAT testing. Seems that a couple of the SWAT Sgts (Sgt TL and Sgt CR) took it upon themselves to decide the rank and order of who gets to go in the first SWAT School. They were asking several of the guts on the team if they know this name or if this guy is loyal. WTF! I thought this was a testing process!!! So in true CPD fashion, these SWAT Sgts in a closed door session looked at the list and decided whoever there buddies were or friends of buddies will be in the first class. Can you believe this? There is a female who has made it so far in the SWAT process and these two Sgts don't want a female on the team and they can't stand her husband so they purposely put them last on the list. Now the two Sgts are trying to cover their tracks. They are threatening SWAT guys on the team to keep quiet. Well that's BS. Several of us who tested for SWAT are filing grievances. We want to know how was it decided who goes in the first SWAT school. I hate this fucking job!!!!! Nothing is legit. Please SCC look into it for us.

Before I got the hell out of Illinois, I worked in Brighton Park. Because of illegals, that neighborhood has gone to hell as well! Sad! The commander at that time was immaterial. What happened was, the kid showed up before actual roll calls began. The desk sgt. took it upon himself to simply 'assign the new transfer' over to the traffic car with the regular traffic car officer (apparently the desk sgt. didn't know that officers don't normally transfer over into another district on a Saturday). As soon as the (now retired) Capt. saw the kid, he immediately grew suspicious, and demanded that the imposter produce ID, which he couldn't. That was the kid's downfall (that and the fact that he didn't have a gun; now ask how his partner, the regularly assigned traffic car officer would allow another officer to enter her car when the subject had no visible weapon--that's another story).

Younger people have NO idea what we lost. I have a big, thick 1959 Illinois Manufacturers' Directory, and probably 90% of what was listed in there is gone; the whole giant, interlocking, mutually-supporting system has been dismantled and the working middle class scattered, "outsourced," dejobbed, degraded.
This city used to roar; now half of it is top-heavy with "financial" and "healthcare" and every sort of scam and elaborate service one can imagine, with no basic production to pay for any of it. Who is going to go to a casino when they can't even afford their prescriptions?
Oh. The other half of the city? Unlivable, unusable by humans. "No-go zone," wasteland with mutants, "urban prairie" -- an emptiness that paradoxically crawls with predators.
Chicago could be busted for vagrancy. "No visible means of support..."

I used to feel just like you. I bought my home up in copland thinking that it would be my last home. I thought that I would retire and live happily ever after in it. Then I took a look at how other people lived and discovered that there is life after Chicago. And its a much better life. So I bought a home just over the border in Wisconsin. Not too close, not too far. My home sits on an acre of land, is twice the size of the one in Chicago and the taxes are lower than Chicago/Crook County. I've been up here a couple of years and have yet to see a thug or hear a car driving down the street with the radio blasting. I receive no water bill as I have a well. My energy bill is 150 bucks a month for both gas and electric. The restaurant s up here care just as good as anything in Chicago, you need to look little to find them. In the winter the county plows my street FROM CURB TO CURB , none of this one path down the middle of the street bullshit. One day I saw the garbage man stop his truck, get out and pickup a piece of paper that had blown out of the back. Think you will ever see that happen in Chicago? But the best and I do mean best, thing about moving out of Chicago/Crook County/Illinois is that I NO LONGER SUPPORT THE MOST CORRUPT GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD through taxes.

Chicago swat (I’ll reserve all caps for real SWAT teams that maintain real standards of excellence) is simply a reflection of the department it is a part of. Instead of competence being used to determine who is chosen, clout and nepotism reign supreme. It is just like the selection of command staff if you think about it. The attempt may have been made to create the appearance of a real SWAT team when the switch from HBT was made years ago but rest assured that the Chicago way is alive and well in the CPD swat team. New packaging (uniforms), same product. This is true throughout all ranks, from top to bottom. There are some good officers on swat but do not believe for a minute that the green police represent the best of the best. And no, getting a CR# will not accomplish anything except bring harassment and retaliation to the whistleblower, just like the VA whistleblowers, so don’t do it.
If you value your safety, become as proficient as you can with your weapons (then maintain your proficiency) and stay fit. If you do that and have a good partner that does the same you’re ahead of the game. Remember, if the shit hits the fan by the time the swat team arrives your fate will almost certainly already be determined be what you were able to do on your own. I’d rather have a good partner and an AR with me than a Bearcat full of green police 45 minutes to an hour away.

OH really, do you recall someone like Bill Daley, at one time Obama's Chief of Staff just like Rahm.
He championed something called N.A.F.T.A., the North American Free Trade Act.

I only hope we will be able to do IROCC qualifications there soon. It's truly disgraceful that we cannot do them at any of the CPD ranges here in the city after serving and protecting this city for so many years. I wish the current heads of the FOP would seriously look into this issue.
And why is the yearly cost of qualifying so high here?
I have friends in Vegas and Florida who are shocked at the cost. In Florida, it's free. My friend in Vegas pays only $12 yearly. So what gives here?

Sorry to be off the topic but just found out several scams being pulled on the SWAT testing. Seems that a couple of the SWAT Sgts (Sgt TL and Sgt CR) took it upon themselves to decide the rank and order of who gets to go in the first SWAT School. They were asking several of the guts on the team if they know this name or if this guy is loyal. WTF! I thought this was a testing process!!! So in true CPD fashion, these SWAT Sgts in a closed door session looked at the list and decided whoever there buddies were or friends of buddies will be in the first class. Can you believe this? There is a female who has made it so far in the SWAT process and these two Sgts don't want a female on the team and they can't stand her husband so they purposely put them last on the list. Now the two Sgts are trying to cover their tracks. They are threatening SWAT guys on the team to keep quiet. Well that's BS. Several of us who tested for SWAT are filing grievances. We want to know how was it decided who goes in the first SWAT school. I hate this fucking job!!!!! Nothing is legit. Please SCC look into it for us.

Can't remember or think of anytime SWAT arrived on the scene and had any affect on the po's safety that were already there. Simple fact.
SWAT is done. It died on the vine during its most crucial point: fertilization. Instead of feeding the team with training, evolving techniques, lessons learned from other teams' mistakes, policy writing (there was none), solidifying trust and developing a true 'team' mentality, the powers that be decided to create an environment of those who are friends of the clout and those who are not. The outcome fractured the team and created a bunch of independent cliques who point fingers, cry, whine, bitch and complain about each other.
There are plenty of guys who just like to wear green and be seen. Haven't been thru the door or in harms way for years now and that's OK because they don't make waves for the powers that be. It's a shame how it all fell apart. More disappointing is how downtown let it happen.
It really could, and should, have been an amazing team with unlimited potential. Instead, it's plagued with those who know too much and those who haven't a clue. No identity what so ever. It's the flavor of the week with the training staff who dictate the teams direction based on whatever class they've attended or speech they heard from some Tier 1 operator. It's actually comical that these, would be warriors, are so afraid to create their own policy, plan, training and that they destroyed the very thing they were trying to create. Sad. There's a lot of talented and dedicated guys there who are simply riding it out in hopes for a better tomorrow. Yet each day the song remains the same or worsens. Good luck guys, that ship is sinking and has made itself obsolete.

I will tell you gives here. Daley did not want it and tried to make it difficult to qualify. The city does not subsidize the program in any way. When I first retired the city wouldnt even give you a letter stating you had been a po for 15 years. You had to get it from the pension board. I understand that has changed now He refused to let the retirees use the cities ranges. And as far as the money, its high because you have to pay the wages of the range officers along with the administrative costs and the salaries for those administering the program including the rent in Springfield. All that is paid from your fees. I'm sure Vegas and Florida the legislature or the police depts subsidize part of the costs.

One more thing about life sfter Chicago. When we came up here looking for a home and did the walk through thing, we noticed that no one locks their doors up here. I cant tell you how many times we would meet our r/e agent to see a house, walk up to the unlocked door and walk right in. No one there and the doors are unlocked. Around here kids leave their bikes, toys outside overnight for days and no one takes them. Unbelievable. Life is good after Chicago !
