Guess Who is Unpopular?

  • I'd like to take a moment to show a little love for Maggie Haberman, a senior political reporter for Politico, who's apparently the first national pundit to make the startling discovery that Chicagoans don't like Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

She wrote a good story with this great headline: "Rahm Emanuel: D.C. hero, Chicago goat." Here, read it for yourself.

This revelation must be jarring to all those national pundits who really, really love Mayor Rahm. They're probably wondering: how could so many Chicagoans be so wrong about Mr. Right?

The pundits' love is so strong that it compels them to write that he is "a full human being, rich and fertile from the inside out."

I'm still wondering how New York Times columnist David Brooks got that baby past the copy desk.

In fact, so many national pundits have crushes on Mayor Rahm that I have created a theorem, which you are free to quote:

The farther you live from Chicago, the more you'll like Mayor Rahm.

The converse is obviously true as well.
Rahm has no reason to like Chicago. He wasn't raised here, barely lived here, he has tons of other people to give him money for political purposes. He has no loyalty to the city. Chicago is a stepping stone, nothing more. The quicker people realize that, the better.

Fuck these fools in Chicago and everywhere else trying spin Rahm's latent unlikeability like there's something wrong with us here in Chicago for not wanting to queue up to kiss Rahm's vile little shriveled ass...

And the one idiot who chirped about how he though Rahm was here in Chicago "kicking ass?

WTF? O_o?
Really?

Well... He is DEFINITELY TRYING to kick the ass of people who have rules to abide by.

Policemen in particular...

The armed wing of "The Catered To Constituency"
who are burning this city to a fucking crisp?

Rahm The Strutting, Crowing and Shitting Bantam Rooster tried to buy these fuckers off via Ceasefire and got his ass handed to him when it came out that those mutts used that money to purchase and move felony weight dope...

"You cops and your pensions are the problem in Chicago..."

Yeah yeah yeah...
More fuel for "The Big Hate" to distract from the epic thievery down at 111 N. LaSalle - Suite 500.

Rahm is so smart that he will end up destroying his own dreams of Chicago as a political stepping stone.

His friends will keep reality from knocking the skin off his ass when he gets skipped against it like a rock across a pond...

Its an interesting phenomena. I recall thinking the same thing about Jesse Jackson. His popularity was always greater among those farthest from Chicago. Chicagoans recognized the self serving clout mongering, media manipulating, unelected politician that he is.
There are others who fits this bill ...

Rahm may not be great, and he may very well come across as an asshole, but I really don't think he is a bad mayor.
I think anyone would look like an asshole if they were coming in after Daley and trying to fix all the shit he broke. That guy sat down there on the 5th floor and left an impression this city will feel for decades, and not in a good way.
If Rahm is a one term mayor so be it, but who do we have to replace him???

Preckwinkle??? SO SO SO much worse

Great article, but a stepping stone to something higher? Maybe, maybe not.

Anyone with half a brain can see that there are a whole lot of folks who just don't care for Mayor Arrogant, and the city's finances have gone from bad to worse under his administration. Who the hell would want to have that on the resume?

Then again, we are dealing with liberals. If they were stupid enough to elect a complete fool like Oblama, I am sure they would fall for the 9 digit midget's bullshit as well.

It's all about the liberal's litmus test: it's not whether you produce results, it is only whether you intended to do well.

The latest whine on Chicago TV is Trump's name on his building.

WTF? Trump spent a TON of money to get rid of the SunTimes Building and replaced it with a magnificent building. So he puts his name on it - BIG DEAL.

If I was Trump and they kept jagging me around, I would take down the TRUMP sign and put up CHIRAQ instead and then tell Rahm, "NOW, you have something to whine about. Fix the City!"

If they keep giving Trump crap - he should run for Mayor and all you sheeple and clouted lackeys would be smart to vote for him to get the shackles off your ankles because you are nothing but the oarsmen on Rahm's Golden Galleon and if you're a white-shirt- big deal.

You put your right leg in,
You put your right leg out;
You put your right leg in,
And you shake it all about.
You do the hokey pokey,
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

Emanuel's ego is so big, he's simply jealous.

CHICAGO (AP) - The installation of 20-foot-tall letters spelling out T-R-U-M-P on the side of the billionaire's gleaming Chicago skyscraper has triggered a war of words between Donald Trump and Rahm Emanuel - with the city's mayor saying he's looking for a way to undo the "architecturally tasteless" sign, and the developer in no mood to take anything down.

"Rahm speaks truth to power."

An example of Rahm speaking the truth please.

What power is he supposedly speaking it to?

The whole issue about the sign is a set-up. Rahm is doing Trump a favor...they're playing the media. It's free publicity.

I mean really, why else make an issue over what is an unassuming sign.

Lets not forget Rahm had no problem with that sign that said, "The best job is a blow job." or the Mobile strip club signs.

Sometimes we find that a strong successful leader is not liked. This is not unusual. Rahm speaks truth to power. This is never popular.

I'd have to agree. Cuts had to be made to CPS. Something has to be done to get our pension solvent again. He unlike all others before him who just kicked the can down the road to make us city workers happy is doing something. Tough decisions are not popular but have to be done.

The Hair Gels, the Dinosaurs, 1070, the 11th District Commander, the dogs on the watch, the company guys on the watch, the 5th watch, the EVT, Bruce Rauner, Pat Quinn, the VRI whores, the guy with more seniority that prevents me from working VRI, Old Man Daley, Richard M. Daley, Maggie Daley, Vanecko, Flash Mobs, the bosses in 019, the desk jockeys at 35th street, the mainstream media, Garry McCarthy, Mike Masters, The Alpha Girls and Seiser.

I wish Ben would do an article on how Rahm allows his lawyer friends to sue the department over bullshit allegations just to get rich off taxpayer money. They know the corporation counsel will settle instead of dragging out a long costly trial. Wonder how much these firms donate to Rahm and the Dems.

At least that's something that Weis did right. He farmed out these cases and ended up beating a lot of them cuz they're bullshit. Then these BS lawsuits went down 47%.

Rahm has no reason to like Chicago. He wasn't raised here, barely lived here, he has tons of other people to give him money for political purposes. He has no loyalty to the city. Chicago is a stepping stone, nothing more. The quicker people realize that, the better.

BINGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Rahm can dust off his tutu and go back to twirling around on the dance stage.

Rahm, like the President, is a Media creation. Now you have to wonder how this happened. I believe an agenda, that the Media had, is the only plausible answer. Now you have to look at who and why it was pushed.

Rahm and the President both have similar results. They have made a mess of the positions they were given, and I do mean given. They are unproven, have never had real jobs. Both are over promoted on skills they simply do not posses. They are both narcissists of the highest order and listen to no one. They truly believe their own press. They also have no close friends for those reasons, no real ones that is. At least, for a time, the President came off as likeable. That has changed now too.

Both this city and this country are being run by two guys that should be on some psychiatrist's couch and we let them run our lives. Anybody see a real problem here?

Something has to be done to make our pensions solvent again? It has been done 3 years ago. Its called SB3538. Starting next year the pension will be on its way to solvency. Thats what the mandated 600 million the city has to put in is all about. Then every year the city has to pay a required amount into our pension so by 2040 it will be funded at 90%. If the city doesnt contribute the required amount yearly, the state is mandated by this law to pay the required amount into our pension money thast they owed the city for revenue sharing. Thats the law SB3538. The city doesn't want to abide by the law but wants us to contribute more so they can contribute less, bottom line
Heres a quote from the bill.

Employee contributions to the funds will remain at a total of 9.0% of pay for Chicago Police Fund members and 9.125% for Chicago Fire Fund members. SB 3583 will change the City of Chicago’s employer contributions significantly, however. The City’s contribution is currently a fixed multiple of the employee contributions made two years prior: a multiple of 2.26 for the Fire Fund and 2.00 for the Police Fund. These multiples have provided much less than is needed to adequately fund the plans for at least the last ten years (see this blog). SB 3583 would require the City to begin in 2015 making contributions sufficient to bring the funded ratio of each fund to 90% by the end of 2040, using a level percentage of payroll and projected unit credit method (see the Civic Federation’s Status of Local Pensions report for description of these methods). If the City fails to make its required contributions, the Illinois Comptroller would withhold State fund transfers to the City.

I heard Trump orginally wanted to put "SEISER" in big glowing letters on the side of the Trump Tower, but the city rejected it fearing the masses of pilgrims that would show up to worship his name would gridlock Wacker Drive.

Seiser will never have a heart attack like McCarthy. Seiser's heart knows there'll be hell to pay if it ever attacks him.

I was at the graduation/promotional ceremony at Navy Peir and saw the mayor, superintendent and other bosses lining up to shake hands and pose for pictures with Seiser. McCarthy now has that picture on his desk and any time he's faced with a crucial decision he stares at the picture and ponders....What would Seiser do? What would Seiser do?

Hey McCarthy! Remember the near death experience you had during your heart attack and you only saw one set of footprints in the sand. That wasn't Jesus carrying you, it was Seiser! Get your act together Seiser can't carry you your whole career.

LOL!

Trump should tell that little tip-toeing, Ritalin addled, frustrated nancy-boy of a mayor to kiss his wide, flat and square ass...

>Drops trou and bend<

If it were our building, we would take a page out of Rahm's play book and Section 8 the whole damned thing for pure vengeance and spite...

Then rename it "The Emanuel Arms."

Put a nice fountain with a bronze sculpture of a bent over and splayed ass spraying water in front of the place...

In yer eye... It's on a rotating platform with a plaque...

There was a huge outcry when the plans were announced before it went up. It had a hearing and it was 'debated' and approved. Where was the oh-so-outraged mayor when all that was going on? Oh, maybe Indonesia. Or D.C. Or at some festival in Texas. Why would anyone think he'd know what was going on in Chicago? It's not like he spends any time here, or even CARES.

I did not write either of the above but the U.S. has become a PLUTOCRACY. That is ruling by the rich, always has been always will be. The PLUTOCRATS may use and manipulate the masses but their wealth is controlling them.

When was the last time you heard of a non-millionaire being elected president or senator?
