Interesting CompStat Numbers

A liberal mayor + CompStat = shootings through the roof - it's not just a Chicago phenomenon:
  • The number of shooting victims has skyrocketed across the city this year — up 43 percent in just the last month — while fewer guns are coming off the streets, NYPD statistics reveal.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton has repeatedly shifted the focus from shootings to a steep decline in homicides, and claims he is not worried about the gun violence.

But sources told The Post it will only get worse in the hotter summer months, and that the alarming trend is the result of a more “reactive” police force handicapped by the inability to use tactics like stop-and-frisk.

“Cops aren’t putting their hands on anyone,” a source said.

In the last month alone, 129 people were shot, according to the latest CompStat figures, or 43.3 percent more than for the same period last year.

Since January, there has been an overall 13.2 percent increase in shooting victims, while 10.2 percent fewer guns have been recovered compared to 2013.
Not that you can really trust CompStat statistics since they're mostly lies, but it would certainly be interesting to get hold of Chicago stats and plug them into a spreadsheet and compare them to NEw York City over the same 2013/2014 time periods. You might see similar increases in people shot, guns (not) recovered, and who knows what else. The description of the NYPD in survival mode certainly sounds familiar.

Liberals always have been pro criminal and sympathetic towards criminals. Heck most to the democratic leadership is fighting to give felons the right to vote. The only times they support local/state police is when they can use them against their political opponents.

And why would we?
For an ungrateful public? Read the comments at Chicago breaking news, tribune or sun times. Any time we put hands on someone, they want us crucified at State and Madison.

For a department that only sticks its neck out for the clouted few? Ask Cozzi or Howard how many people gave them job offers. ZERO. All those bossed who left CPD ant went on to other things, none of them offered to employ either Cozzi or Howard.

Of course either one of two things account for the drop in homicides. First, the shooters are bad shots or second, the hospitals are doing a great job at saving lives.

I believe it. As ANOVs increase so does the crime as the bad guy knows that even when stopped by the police he has little chance of going to jail. Less people getting locked up means more people on the street. More people on the street means more chance of confrontation and, bingo, the shootings and murders go up.

What I really care, is how much of the tax payers money is spent on the yearly basis to resuscitate these MO-FOS?
That's the real question!
The government has no money for schools, city services, pensions etc.
But we have money to keep these Fuckers alive?

Over the past few years the ability to use cell phones to record us made a lot of officers stop putting hands on people. It will never go back to the way it was. I don't see anyone do what they used to do because we as police are always shown as the bad guys. Inspiring journalists only want to record us because they want to "catch" us doing anything out of line.

Well, who didn't see this coming after that ijit Libtard Fed judge Shira Scheindlin went into her full marxist mode on 'Stop-Question-and Frisk' and then the new mayor Bill de Blasio (Communist-Nicaragua) dropped the appeal.

An appeal which NYC would have won hands friggen down given that it was already ruled constitutional by the Supreme Court. And the teeny fact that the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit blocked said order requiring changes to the New York Police Department's stop-and-frisk program. Then!..the court took unprecedented action and removed that marxist hag Judge Scheindlin from the case for unethical fucking behavior! [this broad is the poster girl for the Impeachment of Federal Judges]

----- I'll bust a gut if NYPD Commish Bill Bratton pulls a McFailure and blame NY state's "lax gun laws" (rotflmao). That'd be f--kin' priceless. -----

Do they see overtime for extra officers being slyly applied to shore up Wabash and Michigan ave?

New research takes a look at decades of corruption convictions to find the crookedest states in the union.

When we think of government corruption (as one tends to do), our biased minds often gravitate to thoughts of military juntas and third world governments. But, of course, corruption is everywhere, in one form or another. And it’s costing U.S. citizens big time.

A new study from researchers at the University of Hong Kong and the Indiana University estimates that corruption on the state level is costing Americans in the 10 most corrupt states an average of $1,308 per year, or 5.2% of those states’ average expenditures per year.

The researchers studied more than 25,000 convictions of public officials for violation of federal corruption laws between 1976 and 2008 as well as patterns in state spending to develop a corruption index that estimates the most and least corrupt states in the union. Based on this method, the the most corrupt states are:

1. Mississippi
2. Louisiana
3. Tennessee
4. Illinois
5. Pennsylvania
6. Alabama
7. Alaska
8. South Dakota
9. Kentucky
10. Florida

That these places landed on the list isn’t exactly surprising. Illinois, which has gain notoriety for its high-profile corruption cases in recent years, is paired with states like Mississippi and Louisiana, which are some of the least economically developed in the country. The researchers also found that for 9 out of the 10 of the most corrupt states, overall state spending was higher than in less corrupt states (South Dakota was the only exception). Attacking corruption, the researchers argue, could be a good way to bring down state spending without hurting services that people need.

Researchers also found that spending in these states was different than their less corrupt counterparts. According to the report, “states with higher levels of corruption are likely to favor construction, salaries, borrowing, correction, and police protection at the expense of social sectors such as education, health and hospitals.”

The paper explains that construction spending, especially on big infrastructure projects, is particularly susceptible to corruption because the quality of large, nonstandard projects are difficult for the public to gauge, while the industry is dominated by a few monopolistic firms. Corrupt states also tend to, for obvious reasons, simply have more and better paid public servants, including police and correctional officers. The researchers argue that the need for correctional officers is greater in corrupt places too because “the overall extent of corruption will be higher in states with higher numbers of convictions of public officials.”

Of course, it’s not all bad news, as the study also found the least corrupt states too. Citizens of these states–Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Vermont, Utah, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Kansas–can take solace in the fact that they’re not getting ripped off as badly as the rest of us.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story incorrectly referred to Indiana University as the University of Indiana.

Don't know about anywhere else but as far as Policing in Chicago is concerned, everyone must've missed the immense >THUD!< of an entire police delartment sitting on it's "revenue generators" (hands) around the time Shortshanks took a deliberate shit on our contract and tainted the arbitration process while hurting OUR ability to make money...

Daley didn't want to pay us above and beyond because the big money diversion was in full swing...

Yet he was pissed because coppers responded to being cut out of the revenue stream by not generating revenue!

CPD WAS the biggest revenue generator in the city for many years.

Things changed when the mayor snatched control of the CPD Budget away from the superintendent. (a move that was purely about politics and control)

Now CPD has to beg for crumbs from the general fund as the mayor sees fit which is why manpower is destroyed, training is shit, equipment is shittier still and morale (FART! - STINK! "Huh? Whazzat?) is a word not found in the North Shore Shit-Ass Thesaurus.

Don't let any of the above derail the ongoing "Great Hate" propaganda campaign against The Police in this town...

"It's The Police who are the problem in Chicago... Once we fix THEM, everything else will fall in place..."

"We're gonna stick it in the cops ear..."

"You guys are gonna have to learn to bleed."

God Bless Miriam Santos because at least HER heart was in the right place. She was just up against the Daley Inc. criminal/political/ corporate & media apparatus in trying to keep hem from stealing our pensions outright... They were angry beyond measure because "all dat free money jest sittin' over dere doin' nuttin' fer US!" and she had the nerve to tell them "NO!"

FAST FORWARD @ A DECADE: (That means you too local media.)

One of the Daley royal nephews Richard Vaneko and his "business partner" Allison Davis (DV Realty) were mysteriously "gifted" with multiple millions in Police Pension Fund Monies to "invest" in an already tanking real estate market...

As of 11 June 2014 that money is STILL unaccounted for and questions STILL have yet to be asked or answered...

>Nobody STILL ain't sayin' shit about those millions Daley flew off with to "bid" on the 2016 Olympics with... All indications are it's an intelligent guess that it WAS Police Pension Money percolated thought DV Realty<

Rahm is a "cleaner" sent here to cover Daley's tracks and make a little scratch for himself while destroying a Police Department.

Perfect crime... There will be no victim(s) to make whole when the pension is imploded and a lot of dirty people are counting on Policemen to be "true" to their oath while everyone else has air and opportunity to lie, misstate and renege with impunity.

Just killin' time to see where "The Great Hate" against Policemen eventually crashes since we're thought of as the problem.

"If you guys would just sit down, shut up and generate some revenue/fight some of this crime/generate some activity, things would be ok!"

Until?

To the civilians who claim to be our supporters?

You had ample opportunity to make your voices heard in that regard but you opted to remain silent... Now you have a mayor who thinks very little of you and what you have to say.

Your unwillingness to take a stand with your Police has resulted in the wholesale concession of the streets of this city to the permanent criminal underclass who now outnumber tax payers.

Who the fuck do you think the mayor, the city council, the media and all others are going to cater to?

You exist to pay their way by the sweat of your brow but you will not be allowed to reap any benefit...

It's 25 years too late to start talking about "We Support The Police."

The ball is in YOUR court!

Put my hands on people? Have these "citizens" noticed what a bunch of shit talking, ready to fight ANYONE these criminals are? They are ready to show just anyone how much of a bad ass they are and anyone that deals with them that backs down from their shit is viewed as a bitch. A police officer can't allow this if he is going to deal with these asses. So, since John Q. Liberal Citizen is worried about these feral beasts rights and that they be treated with kid gloves, you tend to leave them alone since getting rough with them when they talk about fucking your wife, daughters, sisters and anyone that you care about. How about this John Q, what statute did they violate by telling you they're going to butt fuck you and rape your female family members? Since there is no real law violated, how do you arrest them? What is your response to them?

You don't make society safer by putting a muzzle on the sheep dogs that are fending off the wolves. So, alligator arms and less interaction with them is what you get.

I was thinking, according to the site above, each alderman gets 1 million dollars, not including the cost of salary and there workers, to do what they like to improve their wards.

That is 50 million dollars that the aldermans are getting that has yet to be used to fix much at all in most of the wards.

That is basically 50 million dollars that could of gone into the pension fund that the mayor has been looking for. So instead of increasing property taxes why not reduce the funding and the number of aldermans. We sure as hell do not need 50 of them.

And when you do have probable cause, and catch them doing something wrong, put them in PRISON so they don't reoffend. (note, I don't blame the cops for the failure to do the latter... I blame prosecutors and judges for being pussies)

I agree with you. McCarthy has done good things for the department even though he has been under severe restraints by Rahm, such as manpower. He has been much better then ANY superintendent appointed by Daley. I go back a long way and I miss Rochford, Fred Rice, Conlisk. They were leaders and really had compassion for individual officers who were hard workers but fell on misfortune and they stood behind you. I cannot say that for one of Daley's appointees .

I'm sorry and embarrassed by my fellow co-workers "YOUR COPS" The cry babies and people who always complaint do not represent the majority. These are the same useless dogs asses who do nothing all day. I'm Sorry

I see the Superintendent's policy group is weighing in. I am curious. What good things has this Superintendent done for the Department. I can't honestly think of one.

One of the neat things about being in the burbs is that we get the news from Chicago and Milwaukee. The latter also has a crime problem and too many shootings as well. But there are some differences.

First, the mayor and chief actually give a shit and aren't afraid to let the police do their job. Second, the people in the neighborhoods are getting sick of the assholes and are demanding that the politicians and police turn up the heat. Third, there's a sheriff (although politically motivated like most sheriffs) who is a black Buford Pusser and asserts that the mayor and police aren't doing enough. In other words, little sympathy for the dirtbags. What a difference!
