4 and 30 - and the Night Isn't Over

Piling the numbers up:
  • At least 30 people have been shot across Chicago this weekend, four of them fatally, officials said.
The NBC link here has a pretty comprehensive rundown of the carnage.

Two of the wounded were our own and charges were filed Sunday:
  • A man has been charged with shooting two police officers during a traffic stop late Friday on the South Side.

Malik Shabazz, 29, of the 9300 block of South Wallace Street, was charged with five counts of first degree attempted murder in connection with the shooting, police said in a statement.
Shabazz - that's familiar.

Leaving aside the two officers, it appears the others were thugs, druggies and gangstas. No great loss.

Sing a song of Sixpence?

Pocket full of rye.

Four and thirty blackbirds,
Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened,
The birds began to sing;
Wasn't that a dainty dish,
To set before the king?

The king was in his counting house,
Counting out his money;
The queen was in the parlour,
Eating bread and honey...

Oh wait. In the nursery rhyme it was twenty blackbirds. oh well.

30 people shot

x $250k cost to taxpayers per shooting

= $7.5 million dollars wasted on stupid people. Money that could have gone to Police pensions.

Keep it classy rif raff !!

Despite millions spent in overtime, the killings continue. The politicians allowed the evisceration of the police department. They cut money here to spend money where? What was so important that you had to take away the good citizen protection?

Without the CONSTANT police presence their neighborhoods, the gang bangers have run unchecked. Now we expect to fix this by working POs on overtime, everyday? That's a great strategy. That doesn't even take into account stripping the good neighborhood of any sense of a police presence. The Department manpower is way below what is safe for citizens or police.

Poor management and political chicanery are the villains here. Mayor Emmanuel and Superintendent McCarthy are the pandering carpetbaggers that need to be ushered out before this mess gets fixed.

Dear media people that read the blog.

I have a great story for you. Our equipment. For instance. The high tech computers (PDT) we have in the car. Well 90% of the time with CPD you have to do the report on paper then go into the station to do the high tech report on the station computers because we never have a strong enough signal to perform the task on the high tech PDT computer in the squad. A simple report that would of taken 5-10 minutes on paper now takes you at minimal 1 hour to complete. That's efficient. We are supposed to be online to do paperless reports. More that 70% of the computers (PDT) in the squad cars are broken. None of the cameras work. Wires hanging all over the floor of the squad cars. You want to know why they say crime is down? Because the scared are chasing down contact cards. And the workers are performing 100 times the effort to complete 1 case report because of a useless shotty system. An arrest that took you 45-60 minutes now takes you at least 3 hours because the report system they implemented is useless. Do a ride along, but don't tell them your a reporter. You will be amazed at what you learn about.

God bless the officers and hope for a speedy recovery. Now let's take a look at the violence through the eyes of comp stat. If the norm in 4 and 30 each weekend, then let's not get all excited. If we start to exceed that number then expect to drop paper explaining your strategy to combat the spike in violence. Chicago will not get any better until we choke off what's left of the organized street gangs and move them outside the city. Let them have their weekend violence because nothing is really lost. The $250,000 per shooting is some made up number and in reality does not cost the tax payer anything.

Just saw three people killed in 008and related barricaded incident over some dispute involving a cell phone. It just aint worth it. We must realize in order to receive the hash tag “ Put the gun Down” or “Don’t Shoot I want to Grow Up”, the murderer would have to acquire a cell phone by whatever means necessary. Hash tags are the new law enforcement tool to sooth the murderous instincts of these sagging pants jackasses.

The shooter could just provide proof of a L.I.N.K. card, S.S.I. paystub, proof of Section 8 rental vouchers, proof of Illinois Heating and Energy Assistance Program, proof of Medicare & Medicaid to receive a government paid cell phone complete with urban ringtones in a variety of colors with 1000 free minutes. (Proof of citizenship not required & no upfront out of pocket expenses). The shooter could get another and another and another FREE cell phone cause the Department of Agriculture provides these phones rationalizing the necessity of this phone should an employer offer employment. Yeah, O.K.

How about option #2. The shooter could have done what everyone else does. Just jump the turnstile on the C.T.A.’s Redline and go to work. Lots of clueless urban pioneers to pluck an Apple i-phone from. The CTA platforms are orchards in the urban lexicon. Lots of low hanging fruits ripe for the plucking. Academic indoctrination reinforces that you Mr. Robber have had the deck stacked against you from day one especially in the criminal justice system, i.e. social justice paradigms. The diminished police presence and dwindling police staffing assures 9 to 5 victims are left vulnerable and often denied safe passage to and from work while commuting on CTA property.

OT: From Bloomberg News:
Waking Up From Fiscal Nightmare That’s Chicago: Muni Week
By William Selway and Tim Jones June 08, 2014

To show how badly public pensions have been short-changed, Securities and Exchange Commissioner Daniel Gallagher mentioned a place where every household owes $88,000 for promises the government made to retirees.

He didn’t name the locality in his speech last month to municipal-bond regulators, though he did flag it in a footnote to the written text. “In case you were wondering,” Gallagher wrote, “this fiscal nightmare is Chicago.”

Shooting in the Ashburn community in the 008th district with three more dead. Its Monday, shouldn’t all these people been at work? Maybe everyday is a vacation for them. Maybe they work nights. Lots of peoples at the crime scene. Shouldn’t these people be employed and at the workplace in this obama economic recovery. Jobs, jobs, jobs. It seems everyone on the south and west sides “works” everyday. Ashburn use to be such a nice stable middle-class family community with employment opportunities.

----------------------------
Too bad all those households you mention have 10-20% unemployment and 30-40% underemployment. (the middle-class isn't making the money they used to make)

Wake up to the reality - those "households" you think make all that money - aren't.

Something has to give and it's not going to be doubling or tripling property taxes. We have already raised income taxes in this state by 66% and doubled all the tolls on the Tollway (or did you forget?)

Better start taking all that bar and "good times" money you spend and put it into some retirement account.

Welcome to the new economy. Everyone has to give up something. Now, it's your turn.
