Get Those Stickers

  • Chicago car owners will have one more week to buy their city sticker online.

The City Clerk's Office extended the last day to buy a city sticker online from June 30 to July 7 due to "quick processing times," according to a news release.
This year also marks the last time everyone has the same deadline. Pro-rated stickers are available so that everyone will be purchasing city stickers 6-months after they buy a plate sticker.

Why can't we do this over our cell phone.? You can now pay for extra time at a parking meter using your cell, why not the city sticker. It would certainly save a lot of time and hassle.

Just asking

I saw the line at the Archer Avenue Clerks office stretch around the block which probably meant a wait time of over 2 hours. Pay the $5 service fee at any currency exchange and save yourself the headache of dealing with the assholes at the clerks office who are so pissed off that they have to work hard 1 month out of the year. Seriously, the way these workers talk to people makes me sick.

We are so blessed to be able to pay in so many ways to drive a car. A sticker here, a sticker there, it all adds up to some real money. It's a wonder people havn't started moving out of the county - state.

The countless members of the "community" who approached us yesterday asking if the city had a "delay" in issuing citations in effect (always July 15, but how could anyone be expected to remember that every year) "cause the system that printed the city stickers was down at all the currency exchanges fo hours!" The failure occurred of course many hours prior to any weather incident. This may have something to do with the internet extension. You gotta love these low bid / no bid contracts. If any business operated the way this city does they would be out of business in no time, but when you cater to and deal with the nitwits in the "community" you can get away with far more corruption and disruption in service than anyone else would allow for.

Did you know that as long as you have a 773 or 312 area code on your phone number, no matter what state or county you reside in, you will continue to pay the 911 tax that Rahm just raised to the highest in the country?

Or is it hammer time the day after they expire?

We used to have the courtesy of going into the clerks office and buying city stickers without waiting, but now that has changed, by order of city hall. No city employee gets any type of professional courtesy regarding buying stickers. No problem I paid the small fee at the local currency exchange, but surely will remember the non courtesy from the clerks office!

How easy it was to buy the city sticker on line. I am completely amazed why we cant vote for our F.O.P. president, contracts, etc... also online. Why do we still engage in this antiquated mail-in ballot system?
Every time I ask this question, i am given the "its too hard and complicated" tap dance.

Have an easier way. Save the $5.00 and the trip to the currency exchange. Ever hear of the mail? Mail the application in and you get the sticker in a week or so.

What you gotta do is get twenty or thirty people to chip in and get a P.O. Box at a UPS store, say like in a town you never go to....such as Niles. Then register your car to that address. Be a lot cheaper, that's like $150 a year divided by 20 or 30 people....nothing....

Why do we even need "Susie" the city clerk? How many millions are spent running that office? Couldn't revenue do the same job,as the city clerk duplicates revenue! Why not have the Secretary of State when you get your plate renewal just collect the fee with the plate? Would save millions! That city clerk elected is just a stepping stone to get free exposure to run for another office, how many clerks went to jail? Kozubowsji, laski how many more? That office needs total abolishment, look at city website showing high salaries, for what? Cut the alderman to max 12 bam more tax money saved that money could be funneled into the pension which the city owes big time!

legal answer is No. CPD, City Clerk and Dept Finance ticket writers can enter garages and parking lots and vacant lots to enforce the Wheel Tax Ordinance; AKA city sticker.

9-64-125 tax emblems are required on all vehicles owned by City Residents, period... regardless of the vehicles registration.

Memo went out to TheMouthbreathers...

You pay the extra city/state taxes on your cell phone according to your address, not your area code. This is from the mobile communications act passed in 2002. Its law. Please dont start rumors.

Incorrect on the area code. I changed my address on my phone to city outside of Crook County and immediately saved on my bill. No city tax and no city 911 tax. Still use a 773 area code.

No you dork. The extension is for Online ordering with the original end date being June 30th.

The only city sticker tickets being issued before July 16 are for Improper Display Or for vehicles that Don't Have one at all and are required to have one.

Okay smartness:

Any garage or parking lot or accessory lot that is open to pedestrian traffic.

If the vehicle isn't behind a closed/locked 24hour No Public access possible gate/fence/door them I can ticket the shit out of the vehicle every 24 hour Legally.

And I've seen ofc. Do just that and more. Got a district PO in Austin rolling around with the old ticket machine writing city sticker tickets. Got a couple of ofc out in Bridgeport that roll through alleys and airmail city sticker tickets to vehicles in areas where they legally Can't be ticketed.

So don't give us that "knock the..." Shit here internet tough guy.

I'm not the original poster, but it was the legal answer

All Chicago residents using his or her vehicle in the City must have a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker, regardless of where the vehicle is registered. Failure to do so can result in a minimum $200.00 ticket and additional fees.

Whats wrong with these people? You mailed it one week ago(back on May27) For a sticker to be processed you expect within a week to mail it,have them process it and mail it back and you to receive it in less than a week, good luck with that.
