- Two women, ages 21 and 47, were shot Sunday evening near Montrose Beach in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side, Chicago Police said.
The shooting happened about 6:04 p.m. near the 4500 block of North Simonds Drive, police said.
Both women were taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

There's no excuse, and the parade is out of control. It needs to be moved downtown and handled better. It all starts with the parade organizers and goes to Ald. Tom Tunney's office and to City Hall.
Yes, and if this was any other parade, it would have been shut down. The Southside Irish parade was just as bad. But you take a very vocal minority group with deep pockets (yes, I'm painting with a broad brush) with the high potential for bad PR if there's a misstep and you have kid gloves treatment.
I feel bad for the police who had to work it - 019 is understaffed and was overwhelmed today.

The parade is out of control. I witnessed that today. Somebody has to have the BALLS, no pun intended to tell the gay community this parade has to be moved onto Columbus Drive just like all the other parades. As of 0200 hours, five people were shot in the 019 district. Think about that for a minute. All parade related. No doubt this parade has to be taken out of the neighborhood.
You can add another shooting to the post parade festivities. One shot right on Belmont a little over an hour ago. This was with a large police presence. It just goes to show you, if someone wants to hurt someone, they're going to find a way to do it.
There was also another shooting and foot chase around 8pm after the two at the beach.
The criminal element has taken over this day as and used it as an excuse to do whatever they feel like.

I did not see one person in attendance attempt to tell another to stop acting like an idiot, absolutely no attempt to police themselves. Thats over 40,000 people per block..on those narrow sidewalks along Halsted, Broadway etc. (40,000 people is the amount Wrigley Field can hold -per block). I smell some bulls--t. we were working by the protesters and a lot of the pro-gay people were very rude, disrespectful, savage-like and did get arrested. they were upset that the protesters were speaking freely. pretty contradicting i think. there was garbage everywhere and most were drunk, high or rolling on some drugs.
Let's all keep it real, 90% of the problems in Lakeview and Uptown were not due to "Gay Pride" but really "Black Pride". Just keeping it real, if anyone drove around at night time on Belmont, Halsted, and all of Montrose Harbor after the parade and into the night, it didn't look or appear to be droves of Lakeview Residents, but actually the majority being Englewood Residents. So let me get this right? South Side Irish Parade closed down years back, for some issues with intoxicated people…….BUT 2 females shot at Montrose Harbor Black Pride, more shot in Uptown Black Pride, and later that night more shot in Sheffield-Belmont. And guess what???? No one even brings the idea of canceling next year gay/black pride events because you will be branded as a racist or homophobic. Go figure!? Ha-ha-ha. I just read 'Crime In Wrigleyville + Boystown'. They really don't hold nothing back and really really don't seem to like the Gay Pride Parade, its promoter/owner/whomever, what its become, the criminal element the parade now draws, and the phony crowd estimate -- the one million they claim is a mathematical impossibility.
And what I find surprising though I shouldn't, is the out of control crime that follows the parade in the 19th Dist --- 'CIW+B' has it all documented --- and the fact is that the Parade now creates a Public Nuisance and real Public Safety Hazard. Given the documented CRIMES, I can't see how the city allows this thing to continue.
All of the, the....bullshit that's going on there is a recipe for disaster. Sooner or later these ghetto-rat thugs are gonna get the surprise of their short life when they start getting a 9mm in the face instead of someone's iPhone.

I live in this general facility. This is no longer the Gay Pride parade. It is the ghetto pride parade. The corner of Belmont and Sheffield was an absolute zoo around 9 pm when I walked down. I wanted to bust out a fire hose.
I've had enough of these people in my neighborhood. I witnessed a god da#$ robbery on Friday outside of my house and the cops couldn't even arrest the POS because he handed off the stolen property at one point.
This "Pride Parade" needs to be cancelled entirely or moved downtown.
You have no idea how bad it was. Easily needed another 200 police officers. Easily needed another 25 Ambulances. The boss looked like he was going to have a grabber from all the stress. The chopper calling out that every time the train stopped, hundreds of people exited into the street. No shit, duh! Boy was it sunny and hot. Add long hours, standing the whole time on hot pavement and the insane congestion of people, besides the hundreds of medical emergencies that went out, even police officers were hit with heat exhaustion. bullet proof vests, all that equipment and dark pants in the all day heat gives you little cool off ability. How many years has the CPD had to do this? How long should we have learned from our mistakes? Definitely needed lots more manpower and a better game plan. The squad car in the photo isn't the only one damaged or only incident. So many residents vehicles got damaged too. A lot of sweeping under the carpet on this one.

The South Side parade was shut down because the folks that live near the parade route wanted to end it
You can add another shooting to the post parade festivities. One shot right on Belmont a little over an hour ago. This was with a large police presence. It just goes to show you, if someone wants to hurt someone, they're going to find a way to do it.
There was also another shooting and foot chase around 8pm after the two at the beach.
The criminal element has taken over this day as and used it as an excuse to do whatever they feel like.

The gay community has their own thugs. It's a fallacy to believe that because a person is gay they are not criminal. The jails are filled with gay violent offenders. It's no surprise that the parades would become violent over the years when all and sundry are invited to "celebrate" their sexuality. Not sure what violence has to do with that but there have been armed robberies, assaults and batteries at that parade for decades. It's only natural that it would become more violent the bigger it gets and the more the police must have a hands off approach.

I no longer attend but did decide to see how the once upon a time fun after party atmosphere was. Broadway to Belmont was relaxed and casual, people enjoying themselves.
Halsted on the other hand has turned into something else all together. I didn't recognize Boystown because 99% of them were from either the South or West side. Thuggish, ghetto people screaming and just milling about and this was around 10pm! I walked up to Clark St. and even Wrigleyville was being invaded by the thugs. I saw them as far down as Wellington just wandering up and down Clark St.
There are growing cries from the community to cancel/move the parade. Tunney and Rahm are standing in the way though.

I was at an Alicia Keys concert and one female was on a date with another,My wife guessed it was their first date as one was making advances,licking in her ear and her neck with her head turned back looking at me and my wife as we were directly behing her ,but standing up to dance for her date was ridiculous and I let it be know,I said," hey we paid like you to see this concert could you please sit down so we may view it? She turned around got in my face,in her drunken stuper and said what you wanna do,I didn't answered that question as it would have sounded threatening,she was spitting as she talked in a rage of toughness,of all her 5'2 and 120lbs of he man,but no one around us as couples and I say there were guys younger and hats cocked tough guys that didn't say a peep as not to offend her and her date,so I got up mentioned it to security and they said they were watching and had a few complaints about her disrupting the concert,finally in her drunken state she attempted to put her arm around her date to make that move to second base and by the way her date was objecting to her every advance as publically she was uncomfortable,but she accidentedly struck my leg and I ran to security and had her escorted out this was at least a half hour of complete aggravation,she looked back at me and as she was escorted out and said " you're gonna get yours! The people in there seats applauded me.But being the police means doing what's fair and right at the time and not wavering or being afraid to act kindly and justly! Even her date thanked me! My wife to this day says ,would it be funny if she were waiting for you in the parking lot to kick your @$$ ,I say yes honey that would have been!

The Lamestream Media reports that 1 million people were to attend the parade. I find that hard to believe - there's only 2.7M people in the City, so what, 30+% showed up to the parade? Let's assume some drove - worst case, 2 ppl/car so 500,000 cars? where'd those park?
The parade route was only 4 miles long, so you're telling me you had 250,000 extra people per mile packed in?
I find this very hard to believe. Anyone that was there who can actually shed some light on the estimated attendance?

Overall, the Police did a fantastic job. Well understaffed, and well outnumbered, the police did what they could to prevent further chaos.
I keep noticing more and more teenage ghetto groups coming to this event. Most of the trouble makers are not part of the LGBT Communnity. The parade needs to be moved some place else.

That was Sgt. L.C. from 35th Street. Drove Weis and now Gmac in the Pride parade. She's actually one of the few sergeants who work in the building ... who actually work.

Having worked most of the parades over the past few years, the Gay Pride parade is starting to take the cake. The reboot of the South Side Irish parade has gone well and the Bud Billiken parade no longer is the pain In the arse it once was.

Problem is that the Department doesn't have 200 more officers. It doesn't have 100. Be surprised if it could come up with 50.
The years of neglect are piling up. No new hires to replace retires. Sure, OT can cover manpower shortages...if they are not too great or go on for too long. Sooner or later mental and physical fatigue sets in.
Feel sorry for those guys and gals in DC. All summer vacations cancelled. And DC is hot, muggy and busy. There are going to be a lot of police with short tempers.
The SRO units in EP, my wfe looked in to it and said on Mary O'Connor's site, she is claiming it as a hoax. Fyi. I haven't looked myself yet, but...

South Side Irish Parade closed down years back, for some issues with intoxicated people…….BUT 2 females shot at Montrose Harbor Black Pride, more shot in Uptown Black Pride, and later that night more shot in Sheffield-Belmont. And guess what???? No one even brings the idea of canceling next year gay/black pride events because you will be branded as a racist or homophobic. Go figure!? I guess their goal is to have a dozen homicides next year, GO PRIDE!
Your right about that I was down on the lakefront from Fullerton to North Ave. till 6PM well after the parade had broken up. No problems at all with the parade people,everyone having fun ,yea and a few drinks. Boathouse had two squads and 4 po's standing around ,everything was under control.
Car no. 8276 was obliterated. The car was parked on the parade route by four front office dollies from 005. I heard the Commander of 019 was furious. The dollies didn't even answer their radios.

He should be furious. Hope he also notices the so called "entertainment team" that still never answeres the radio and laughs about how they have no supervisor sometimes so those days are freebees. What a joke!
He won't say or do shit to either.

Sorry to say…you look like an idiot. The copper making the arrest has a bike helmet. The copper holding the "baton" is actually holding on to the handle bars of the other copper's bike. Thankfully you are not a cop because we say baton not "stick". But thanks for contributing your wisdom….moron.
