Officers Injured

  • Eight people are in custody after a disturbance in the Avalon Park neighborhood left several officers with minor injuries Tuesday evening, police said.

    The disturbance broke out about 7:10 p.m. at a demonstration in the 7900 block of South Avalon Avenue, Police News Affairs [...] said.

    Several officers were struck by thrown objects and received minor injuries, Gaines said. Police declined to release the number of officers injured.

    Two officers were also hurt when their squad car crashed as they responded to a 10-1, an alert broadcast over the air indicating that officers at the disturbance needed help.
As someone commented earlier - "a demonstration of ignorance" it would seem. Best wishes to the injured Officers.

This city is a powder keg...waiting for the spark.
Cameras....cameras...cameras!
Phones are always recording. All interactions. They are on in the car in your traffic stops. They are out videotaping our street stops. Hidden cameras in cars when you are searching their cars. Remember a pat down is a pat down. Not a take everything out of dudes pockets and put on trunk etc
Do a hashtag search on Facebook or Instagram. #cpdk, #fuck12, #fuckthepolice etc... They are watching and catching civil rights violations by the dozen.
Don't be made an example of. The game is evolving and we are the ones in the spotlight. Be careful.

A big thank you from 004 to all those who showed up to assist. They were throwing lit candles with hot wax, bricks and anything else that wasnt anchored down at the police.

Martin Luther King Jr would be rolling over in his grave if he saw that state of the black community in 2014.

Missing black fathers is the prime reason for the destruction in the black community. Did Tio Hardiman talk about that ??

Where was "lil crack's" father at to teach him a lesson not to act a fool ??

So what are you saying? If you were there, you'd go on the medical for the rest of the summer because of being hit by a bottle? You say that you move fast-move fast, where-out of the bottles way?

Uhhhmm, aren't you kinda contradicting yourself? Oh wait-you're old.... Then go retire!!

>>>> Near Riot Erupts at Vigil for Teen Killed by Police; Teen's Mom Charged <<<<

AVALON PARK — Five people have been charged with mob action after prosecutors say a near riot erupted during a candlelight vigil in Avalon Park organized to honor a teen killed by police Sunday.
~~~~snip~~~~
The group gathered for the vigil allegedly turned against police when a woman pointed at an officer monitoring the group and yelled, "That's the rookie mother------ that killed him," prosecutors said Wednesday.
The crowd began to chant, "Kill the rookie," as some pelted police with candles and bricks, authorities said. People threw branches, bottles and other debris from the street while yelling "CPDK," which stands for "Chicago Police Department Killer," officials said.
