DEA Agent Run Down
- At least one man was in custody after a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration special agent suffered a head injury and a broken leg when he was hit by a suspect’s car in the Ashburn neighborhood Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police were called to the area of 8200 block of South Kedzie Avenue following a report of shots fired about 12:50 p.m., and found that a law-enforcement officer had been injured during a drug investigation when he was hit by a suspect's vehicle, according to Police News Affairs. A man hit by a vehicle was taken from the area of 8200 South Kedzie Avenue to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious to critical condition, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight.
Federal agents and officers assigned to work with the DEA were near 82nd Street and Kedzie Avenue and, acting on information that a driver was transporting cocaine, stopped a vehicle as it entered a gas station there, according to a release from the Chicago Field Division of the DEA. When they tried to arrest the driver, he took off from the gas station, hitting a DEA special agent who was on foot in the area, according to the release and a DEA spokesman.
Shots were fired during the incident, and a suspect was being treated at a hospital, according to the DEA release. The agent was believed to have been the one who fired the shots, according to police.

That does is. The POTUS is buying the DEA body cameras too. They should've shot the tires out.
"They should've shot the tires out."

How things have changed.
Reminds me of the time that Sgt. From 019 tried to stop a car that was trying to escape by standing right in front of it , raising his arm and making the universal stop sign with his hand. Of course the car continued right at him at a high rate of speed and struck him. Angelo something or other.
Big dummy.
I don't understand, couldn't he have shot the gear shift into park?
Wishes of a healthy recovery to you, agent, and peace for your family.
They should have shot the steering wheel!
DEA agents to face discipline up to suspension, separation and even possible terminationfor failing to "Step out of the Way" and "Shooting at a Fleeing Vehicle?"
Oh wait... Those are the rules of engagement for CPD.
Fed-Gov would give a copper a 1983 suppository for violating the mutt's rights.
Eric "Hater" Holder said so...
Hope you guys on these joint federal task forces have felt the bone-chilling cold winds of change and resigned yourselves to being expert witnesses with guns.
You know by now that when shit goes down, the Feds will be warm and toasty and coppers will be buck ass naked in the blizzard while being forced to eat a big bowl of vanilla ice cream...
>Brrrrrrr!<
Should have shot the engine. A couple rounds through a modern computerized smog controlled engine and it stops right there.
Geez few years ago did case with them and the of lying guy standing front of the guys running vehicle who did a delivery was....a DEA agent....who was almost mowed down.....
You'd think that their academy would have at least mentioned to drop the stopping of spending trains or bad guys in cars.......
Even though they fucked up my case.... Godspeed get well.22
Hey SCC, did you guys hear about the four bicycle patrol officers escorting one of many protest in Denverr were run over by a car. One of the officers was draggged several yards under the car. Several of the protestors were laughing and cheering for "more". It's disgusting. The officer is in serious condition.
News said the agent was critical. Hopefully, they were wrong.
This is no way for the agent or their family to go into the holidays. Is there anything we can do for them?
Get the helicopter! was broadcast over the zone. Dispatchers response "the helicopter isn't up til 1800hrs". pathetic
I hope the black man who ran down the agent had a gun. Because I can see the headline, DEA agent shoots unarmed black man who driving to church and putting his life of crime behind him. This country is lost, it has become the macrocosm of Chicago.
nice job by the tribune showing the photos of the UC
Can't wait, was the officer who shot white and suspect black and if so was not armed , just driver of a car ,still media will say not armed.
