FOP Endorsements

A modest suggestion.

How about instead of endorsing a political hack who is working against our interests simply because we need her daddy's "support" for the exact opposite of what she's doing, someone proposes a By-Law change or an amendment as follows:
  • Where a political endorsement is to be given, NO endorsement shall be granted if
    • the candidate is running unopposed;
    • the candidate does not present him/herself before the Committee.
Someone versed in the procedures can clean up the language for presentation to the Board.

We could call it Madigan Rule as Lisa fit both criteria this past November. She shouldn't get to use FOP symbols, emblems or such on her literature if she isn't making even a token effort before the membership. Otherwise we get situations where Daddy Madigan threatens us for not supporting his Darling Daughter and Darling Daughter is working against things Daddy is "promising" us.

We'll bet $5 Dean declares it out of order or "improper" so members can't vote on it - you know, like Nolan used to do. That will tell everyone a lot.

FOP endorsement means nothing. The FOP made it that way. By just throwing names out there that aren't even pro union.

We don't care about Dean Sr or Jr anymore. Their colors have been shown.

They are Democrats.

Your FOP is falling back to the old ways of the Nolan regime. For those that dont remember, it wasnt good. This is why the City Wide team swept the election. The Nolan regime spent money like drunken sailors and certain law firms got fat. You young kids better wake up and take your union back. Dont let this new crew get back to the old ways. If the youngsters let this happen shame on them. Let the old retired guys drink all your beer and eat your pizza. Give away all the money that we were able to save over the years.

Let's see if the FOP is stupid enough to endorse Anita Alvarez. Even more important let's see if the membership is stupid enough to follow their endorsement.

So this is how NFL players want to act? If NFL players want to support a shithead who battered and attempted to disarm a PO, then they should be treated accordingly. If the NFL players do not believe in our judicial system, that found no reason to bring charges against the PO, let the move to a country/city that has a system they believe in, that has no law or order, and play for that NFL team. See how much that team pays them. I know some will say it's not all NFL players, well know you know how Police Officers feel every time you lump all of us together when one makes a mistake. I hope the NFL and the NFLPA act swiftly to address this matter.

Kind of off topic, but worth watching, and something to remember at election time. How great would it be we had a boss that backed us up like this?

I have asked many times why retirees are allowed to vote for the people who represent active officers. The answer is we aren't a union we are a fraternal order so members in good standing are allowed to vote which include retirees. Half our board is made up of retirees and they can't be on or vote for anything where active officers are involved. that mean alot of guys on the picnic, fishing and golf committees. You hair gels better wake up stop listening to what the fraternal order is telling you and start watching and reading. I trust Rahm more than I trust Dean and his crew. Nolan and his crew never negotiated anything they took what Daley offered and said thank you. Dean told the membership he started the negotiation from scratch and produced a contract the city agreed with is less than 5 months……really???? Who was asked what the fraternal order should bargain for. Now remember Dean and his crew keep stating "well the fire dept settled for this and that" I say great. The next time you get caught sleeping on midnights tell them well we got the same contract the fireman got so I get a 3 hour nap because the firemen sleep a third of their tour. The firemen aren't restricted to a 30 min lunch. The firemen have a dangerous job, but you are comparing apples and oranges. So I'm sure we have some lawyers on here that can write a by-law change to make that retirees CANNOT VOTE for the officers of the FOP THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT ACTIVE OFFICERS. I'm retiring in little more the 2 years so good luck with this clown and his crew.

Dean, what did you get the rank in file in return for the ridiculous furlough by watch in which the membership hated when it attempted it a few years back? At least that was on a trial basis. ...you put it in the contract! That should be the number one issue of his opponent in the next election because it will be very difficult to get it out of the contract.

The younger coppers need to get involved and make sure they dont have a dictator. You younger guys came out against MS only because it was a little retro issue that wont even cover your rent.

Last meeting there was probably 70 people present, most only waiting for free pizza. Dean and his unelected crew dont report what is really going on in that place. And when a Board member spoke up, one was forced to resign his position snd the other was brought up on charges. I am retired and voted fir Dean, but what a mistake. I am afraid he is going to give my pension away. When i asked a krislov question on behalf of retirees, Dean's bullies jump on the microphone and belittle me, which inturn scares others.

The real business takes place at the Board meetings. Tomorrow is the Board meeting and I will be there to ask the same question. I will report back. Again, younger guys please get involved.

Don't listen to the shitty wide guys. Everyone on this board is taking about 30K less than Donahue's guys were taking. And they are doing it on a voluntary basis. At the June meeting only one's to vote against the pay roll back were the shitty wide guys. Why? Because they think after the f***ing they gave Shields and then us will vote them back in office? They are nuts.

Yea who are all those retirees the 6,000? Where did they come from? Were they the ones that formed this union? The one’s who went on ticket blitzes and then ticket slow downs? The one who told the W/C’s to fuck off and let’s go in the parking lot? Get transferred to the other side of the city to some shit hole with a bigger a-hole for as a W/C? Bobby you don’t have a clue!

Today you pansies won’t do a job action. They will take me off my car! Change my starting time! Break me and partner up! I have to write 5 contact cards or they won’t like me!

Bobby when was the last time you were at a meeting? Cleaned your vest cover?

Give up your free time to work the picnic or golf outing?

Sit in on a city counsel budget hearing on your own?

A pension board hearing?

Drive to Springfield on your dime?

Picket in the state capital?

Never saw you at any of those places.

But talk is still cheap even if you identify yourself.

PS Bobby I don’t work on the third floor of FOP either.

OT:

No one but Sir Charles can get away with talking this bluntly.

"There is no excuse for people to be out there burning down people's businesses, burning down police cars," he said.

And unlike protesters who have likened police in minority neighborhoods to an occupying force, Barkley said the black community owes a debt of gratitude to cops.

“[W]e have to be really careful with the cops, because if it wasn’t for the cops we would be living in the Wild, Wild West in our neighborhoods," he said. "We can’t pick out certain incidentals that don’t go our way and act like the cops are all bad.... Do you know how bad some of these neighborhoods would be if it wasn't for the cops?”

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/12/01/charles-barkley-says-ferguson-grand-jury-got-it-right-looters-scumbags/

Did security for him once...a night I'll night forget. He likes to have a good time, but was always nice and gracious with fans.
