I was at a local buffet this afternoon wearing (proudly) my Police Memorial shirt when a male 1 walked past my table and put his hands up as he walked past. A number of diners saw this and made it a point to walk past and say thank you. To those who actually read the circumstances surrounding NY and Ferguson (and understand what they read)...you're welcome.

The vast majority of citizens are watching this shit and shaking their collective heads. They are behind the police. Most believe in the system. It is the method we use for justice. And in these 2 cases, ferguson and New York the system did not fail. Seems like a bumch of bored kids have taken up this flavor of the week protest just to get out of their moms house and get themselves on Youtube. Hang in there coppers. We got your back.

My son and I went to a local Christmas tree vendor a few days ago. I did a good job of covering up but my son said I was a Cop and the vendor mentioned that he couldn't imagine what it must be like to be a Police Officer right now. He thanked me for our service, mentioned the Charles Barkley interview and shook my hand. Some still appreciate us. Keep your heads up, do the right thing, don't back down and remember, being a cop is Honorable.

And...Thank you sincerely to the kind person who wrote that.

I appreciate the support from the silent majority, however it would be a huge shot in the arm if those who are silent become vocal. Maybe a counter demonstration starting at Holy Name Cathedral. Maybe shout a slogan like "Resist committing cirme, Not the Police."

The manager at my bank branch told me she'd been waiting for me to come in and asked how my department was doing with all this fracas. Then she asked me what I thought....and all I could say was "nobody cares what we think." She nodded her head in agreement and told me several times to be safe and she was thinking about us. I told my old man if they ever let her go I wouldn't come back.

now that is what we need to see more of.. yes the people who follow the law know.. but it's getting harder and harder to follow it when they are using the police to enforce non violent social behavior like tickets for cigarette butts or these stops hoping to find someone with an infraction of the law while the bad guys have a field day knowing you are all tied up..

There was a workplace shooting across the street around 10 yrs ago. Although not there, live nearby. All responding units showed courage under fire.

God bless CPD

Most tradesmen like the police. When I was working I had the pleasure of working with a few CPO's who started out as tradesmen and then got on the job. Wanted to keep their pensions going in their trades. Stay safe.

THANK YOU TO THE POLICE FOR ALL THAT YOU DO TO SERVE AND PROTECT THE PEOPLE. I TRULY THINK THAT IT IS A VERY THANKLESS JOB. BUT I APRECIATE YOU ALL IMMENSELY.

The morning after the Ferguson verdict I walked into Dark Matter coffee on Chicago Avenue in uniform. The guy behind the counter was definitely a hipster. I asked for a large coffee, saying I might need it. He nodded at me, we exchanged awkward smiles (he knew what I meant), and then told me to be careful, and wouldn't take my money. I left a good tip, and realized that even the people you might think would be against us can understand that we do a tough job.

Oh, boy.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

All y'all work careful, work safe, take 'er slow, watch where you step, get home OK. Dangerous from the foundation work all the way to topping out. We look, we see too.

God bless you and keep you.

Being a cop reminds me of how I felt in 1971 at Sea/Tac airport when all the anti war protestors were calling us names and throwing shit at us. Since that time I always knew that the American people never had a clue so all those years on CPD and the time in the infantry taught me to be loyal to my own, to never run ,to never leave anyone behind, to never forget those I lost. All that ever mattered were family, close friends and all my brothers in blue. As for America and the direction it is headed I gave up on America and the American people a long time ago.

That sign, I'm sure, is meant as support for ALL of Chicago's first responders.
(It's just our turn in the barrel CFD.)
Thank you and God bless and watch over all our police, fire and military.

A lot of good people work to make the world a better place. Just called Elmwood Park public works to thank the crew who rigged the pretty blue lights on the town water tower for Christmas. Way high up there, cold, windy, icy...not me.

Down in a manhole on a summer day when all the a/cs are pulling and those cables are getting hot...folks working in all kinds of places to keep things going for everyone. You are all noticed, you are all remembered, you are all appreciated.

What a ridiculous situation, huh?

How the hell people can render half of a city useless, bulls__t going down 24 hours a day, bullets coming through walls and killing little kids in their beds, and on top of that try to run a guilt trip on everyone about it...

I know some hipsters walking around Wicker park right now that are Special Operations Veterans with numerous combat tours.
Be careful w/ that snap judgment mentality, you could wind up showing your ass, or having it handed to you.

I am a "hipster-in-the-coffeehouse" type but I also appreciate the men and women who do the most difficult and dangerous work there is around here. And I won't stay silent when others in my crowd bash the police, either. Be well and stay safe as you keep the Huns on the other side of the gate for us. THANK YOU.
