Prayers Still Needed

One of ours is recovering, albeit slowly, from her bone marrow transplant:
  • A Chicago police officer and mother of four left the hospital after she underwent a bone marrow transplant.

After undergoing a life-saving bone marrow transplant, a Chicago police officer has a message to share about the critical need for more donors. Blanca Magallon left the hospital on Monday.

"I'm just happy to have a second chance. I'm just happy," Magallon said.

Magallon is beating the odds. After fighting an aggressive cancer for months, she's going home just days after a successful bone marrow transplant gave her her life back.
The prognosis is optimistic so far and Officer Magallon is hoping to return to work by summer. Best wishes to her on the road back.

It's good to hear that the officer got the bone marrow transplant. I'll be pulling for her.

Although, I'd like to strongly encourage everyone who reads the comments to sign up for the marrow registry, especially if you're a minority since best matches are from someone who is ethnically close to you. 99.8% of people who sign up never get called, but being that 0.2% of people can help save someone's life.

The positive attitude displayed by Officer Magallon, despite her medical issues, should serve as an example to each of us to persist in the fight and keep the faith despite all odds.

Know too Blanca, that you were never alone in the ring.
The good Lord was in your corner all through that battle, and 'Chicago's Finest' will continue to cover your back.

Hopes and prayers from your brothers and sisters over here in Indiana. For those of you going to Police Week, the bone marrow registry takes samples from any cop who will offer. Thats where we gave ours. Good luck!
