Nebraska No Snitching
- OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Gunfire erupted during a crowded party in a vacant house in Omaha early Saturday, leaving three people dead and five wounded, and most witnesses refusing to help investigators, according to police.
As many as 50 people were in and around the small home when shots were fired "by multiple shooters" around 2 a.m., Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said. No arrests have been made, and police said they were confident the shootings were gang-related.
The vast majority of people at the scene refused to help police, the chief said during a news conference Saturday evening. He said he understood witnesses' fear but pleaded for them to come forward.
"Now that you are away from that scene and have opportunity to be away from any intimidation, I'm asking you for the sake of the community to contact law enforcement," Schmaderer said.

I lived in Omaha in the 80's.Just like here,they had their "ethnic" neighborhoods.Nice town,except for all the tornadoes(weather type,not 2 legged).Should have never left.They had a bar called the "Recovery Room", right down the street from one of the hospitals.Quite a joint.

Exactly, the mounts suck for doing a report ! Why is it so hard for the dept to figure this out !!! Can some connected company asshole please try and get their swivel type mount in the car, then i'd have no problem staying out doing reports, i'm not screwing up my back for the sake of doing reports in the field !!!

In all fairness to the notion that snitching is only frowned upon by those involved in or affected by criminal acts, it's pretty clear that police have their own unwritten rules about cops snitching on other wayward cops.
Accountability cuts across both spectrums, there's no denying that. I just sometimes find it ironic that police are always complaining when no one will come forward when a crime is committed when many in their own ranks follow the "blue wall of silence" when it comes to coming forward and reporting wrongdoing or bad attitudes when it comes to other cops.
Just sayin'.

I work in private enterprise. we have "performance goals, indices, and milestone measurements." My management spends more time gaming the system, than actually accomplishing something. Call it complete (even though it is not), round the number, redefine the parameter, make the numbers look good dammit.
It's not Compstat that is corrupted, it's the management that corrupts the system. and the big guys make it happen.

False. SWAT is undermanned but so is every unit on CPD including the districts. SWAT is undermanned by by 16 percent. That is hardly a safety concern. CPD SWAT is not a very active team. They could downsize the team and have more then enough coverage for the city. The Marine Unit and Mounted Unit were extremely
undermanned by 32 percent to 39 percent.
Marine and Mounted are clouted units.
CPD is known for its clout in ALL units including SWAT.
Sounds to me you are a little bit of an arrogant primadona. Maybe you are currently in a clouted unit and your Chinaman didn't give you the answer you liked so you come to the blog and throw a little temper tantrum. Reminds me of my three year old grandson. That would be the 13 percent of Omaha that consists of a people who voted almost a hundred percent Obama...
Now, if it really were possible to make democrats disappear by electing Republicans, even democrats would start voting republican.
That would explain why democrats flock in droves to red states once they ruin states like california and illinois, then go running to places that actually have low cost home prices, real job creation, and low crime.
