More CR Files Released

Once again:
  • During October of 2014, Department members were notified that lists containing information related to complaints lodged against officers would be released in response to Freedom of Information Act ( FOIA) requests filed by reporters Jeremy Gorner from the Chicago Tribune and Tim Novak from the Chicago Sun-Times. The time frame for the information sought was January 1, 1967 to the present.

The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Policeman’s Benevolent & Protective Association (PBPA) petitioned the circuit court for injunctive relief. In the matter of Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge No. 7, et al. v. City of Chicago, et al., 2014 CH 17454, the circuit court, on December 19, 2014, issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting the release of information on those lists that is more than 4 years old

Consistent with the terms of the preliminary injunction issued by the circuit court, the City of Chicago Department of Law will release to each of the above reporters a list containing information related to complaints lodged against any officers for the 4 year time frame of 19 December 2010 through 19 December 2014.

A copy of the list will be furnished on 27 January 2015 to each reporter and will consist of complaint histories of officers maintained by the Department. The list includes the following information: officer name, date of appointment, complaint category, complaint number, incident date, complaint date, closed date, final finding of the investigation and any action taken.
Fishing expedition anyone?

One may ask why the FOP hasn't filed suit for breach of contract against the city after it was discovered they hold on to these files way past what they contractually agreed to.

Just another hit peace. They will say that 90 percent of the sept has this many cr numbers in 4 years and only this many were sustained blah blah blah. It's the same story rewritten s little different every year. Same news, different headline. Will be a big front page story for a day then onto the next flop of a story. People love reading about the dirty crooked cpd so the paper exploits it to get some paper sales. Yawn, big deal nothing to worry about

No name of the person making complaint? Or law firm?

Weak.

Unfortunately, once this list is released it will be permanent in cyberspace. Now the question as to whether the Sun Times will have an expose on it or use it at will. There's a lot of wrongly accused officers whom don't need their names dragged through the mud.

No more of a fishing expedition as all the city cameras and the NSA wire tapping and social media profiling. No more than the DHS airport screening theater dog and pony show.

Besides it redirects the medias attention away from the political wrong doing's while throwing the taxpayers a bone that they are now craving.

It'd be only fair for the reporters to report on the absurdity of many of the complaints, but I imagine that wouldn't fit their narrative.

Question: Officer's names and star numbers will be in these files what about home addresses and phone numbers?

What about the information on complainants and witnesses?

If complainants now sign affidavits will we have to advise them that their information my wind up in the hands of the Tribune or the Sun-Times?

What would happen if the personal information on these reporters were to spill out in the same way?

Knowing IPRA, a lot of those cases are still open. They work at a snail's pace.

So one of the very last numbers on this list should be the hairgel from 011 playing Sweet Home Alabama?

How about an article on the political "corruption" in this department. The quality of police work is indicative of its leadership. How many X/Os and above are merit, and how many are multiple merit? How about making our pension based on last civil service rank? Most CPD scandals had a political back drop and guys were hooked up.

Been sued civilly In federal court 9 times. Have listed my assets 9 times. Have gone to trial 5 times. Beat two before trial and settled 2. How much money have I lost? Zero. How much money was made by court and scheduling my furlough segment when prep and trial hit? Thousands upon thousands of dollars. Newsflash mr federal court expert... Civil attorneys could see your entire cr file before this during discovery. Nothing in federal court has changed. If the civil attorney wants to use your cr history then you can use the plaintiffs past criminal history over the past ten years.. No civil attorney is ever willing to make that trade off at a jury trial. Such are scared, paranoid little boy you are. 26 years on, hate to say it but been there.. Done that and still working. Will leave at 53 with 29 and a day and not think about cowards like you ever again.. Can't wait. Job is full of sissys these days

I'm not a lawyer but someone within that field should contact the unions for a lawsuit against the Department, for the violation of the contract. The contract agreement said that the CR files will be 'destroyed' so how can there be any from the 60,70 80 90 2000 and 2010?

,petitioned the circuit court for injunctive relief

Go to the NLRB and go to court to sue them.
Money is the only thing politicians understand.

But as union history goes they will accept an 'we're sorry we won't do it again" from the City for keeping records that should have been destroyed.

Just a thought everyone should check their personnel file to see if any 4 year+ CR records are there and if there is file a grievance.

They CAN see our work history and they do look at it you scared little punk. This doesn't change anything for those scumbags like Loevy and Loevy. You're obviously full of horse scat and talking about things you know nothing about.

If we have been to the last two meeting you would know that the court ruled in our favor, the case is at the Labor Board, and they have requested that an arbitrator look at sanctions for violation of our contract. I am a grievant for this.

If you have not been to a meeting your too lazy to respond to. Or you have a political agenda. Either way your a parasite.
