Rahm the Crime Fighter

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday tried to make the case he's done on a good job on crime during his four years in office while acknowledging that many Chicagoans don't feel safe in their own neighborhoods.

The mayor's speech on public safety came as challengers Ald. Bob Fioretti suggested the city launch a parking ticket amnesty program and Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia introduced his campaign themes at a downtown speech.

Violent crime has been one of the most vexing problems for Emanuel during his term, earning Chicago national notoriety both for the sheer volume of shootings and a series of high-profile killings of young people. Emanuel tried to reframe the issue during a campaign speech to about two dozen supporters and several reporters at Washington Park community center.

"The truth is that as much progress as we've made over the last four years, we simply have to do better," Emanuel said after citing statistics he contended show overall crime is down citywide since he took office. "Too many families still have their kids off the porch when it gets dark. Too many families, too many parents do not let their kids go outside because they're scared."
And whose fault is that Rahm? The buck, as it were, stops with you. You've played hardball with the Department, seriously ticking off most of the members. You brought in another outsider as chief, someone with no connections whatsoever to this Department. That's well and good for you controlling him, but not the Department. He has promoted the clouted and connected, no doubt at your behest, but let's face it - the best and brightest they ain't. His number game sucks and all the stats in the world aren't going to conceal the perception of crime...and the citizens perceive disorder.

You negotiated in bad faith, told everyone you were going to "stick it in the ear" of the cops, that firefighters had to learn to "bleed" and continue to threaten our hopes of a secure retirement over our heads, knowing that your own retirement is comfortably guaranteed by shady market gimmicks and undeserved compensation for a no-show job. You broke a promise to hire 1,000, instead playing a word game with the voters, disbanded effective city-wide units and eliminated nearly 2,000 vacancies to declare we were "up to strength."

In short, you suck. The trouble is, your opponents are only less sucky...or sucky in different ways. But at least they're striking a populist note here and there.

O.T. - I was embarrassed for K.B at the FOP meeting. K.B. was irrational. K.B. forgot to tell Dean, at the meeting K.B. was one step away from a 501. Check the Chicago Police Board website in Dec. for K.B.'s case. It is the last case listed. 15 days is a kiss!

Take it, and run K.B. You are very lucky to have your job, considering past issues you have had.

Further, the FOP does not cover POs on off duty beefs, unless they are duty related.

P.S. - K.B. at the FOP meeting you forgot to tell the other members in the audience about the potential 501, and that you had your lady friend park the car.

PAY YOUR OWN LEGAL BILLS K.B.

"Except he seems to be missing his cape."

Rahm probably has his old dancing leotards hanging up in the closet. But they are probably a bit saggy from age.

Can someone do a Jig-Jab carton with Rahm in crime fighting leotards with his Boy Wonder from New York.

Alot of you guys think this crime is brand new... It isnt, assholes have been buffooning on the the southside and westside for years. Look at Tribune from the 1920s and you will see.

Dec 26, 1926 Chicago Tribune, assholes were driving vehicles and looting stores. at the end of the day, it is what it is

Oh Mr Mayor why don't you......yes you strap on one of those body cameras to your shirt or pair of glasses and drive to 64 -68 MLK, Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, Altgeld gardens, anywhere in 007, 011,015, 018, 014, 002,003,004,005 and while you're at it put on a little Hollywood makeup so that your not immediately recognized by the local politicos (like an episode of undercover boss) and do it during the evening hours, you know, once it's dark to locations where service calls are high, in-progress calls, wilding calls, mass disruptions calls, keep the camera on the entire time and WITHOUT EDITING review your community findings LIVE with a respected......yes....a respected member of the media. I'm sure your crack security detail will keep you safe or would you feel safe enough to do it without them.
test your cameras, test your communities, test your findings and test yourself. It's a different world out there when the politicos aren't expecting you and you can see and hear what we see and hear.

And where is all that money for construction coming from?
Taxpayers.
Why doesn't he meet his obligation with the pension fund?

To the first poster. How could you be so stupid! Who gives a rat's ass that Rham is better than New York's mayor. To SCC your comments are spot on. To paraphrase Rham;s statement to Karen Lewis, Fuck you Bitch police. That is what he thinks of us and the retirees. And whatever you think of her, she made him pay in the news media for his comment. And that is the bully we have for a Mayopr! We are nothing more than a means to his ends.

While Rahm is As you say "not that bad" he's also not that good.. Rahm is one of the few politicians who could have come into Chicago and turned things around. His balls are bigger than he is, unfortunately he chose the route of more of the same. He could have easily saved city pensions and kept Chicago on track as the number 1 city in the nation. He could have hired 1000 more police and bought much needed equipment for Police and Fire. Instead he chose to follow the path of every other Chicago and Illinois politician and continue to take much needed money and spend it on projects that continue to make the connected, wealthy. I don't believe in doom and gloom and I don't believe that our politicians are all that different from those in other cities. I do believe that until politicians are held criminally responsible for actions that impact the very people that they serve we will never see a change. Since our legal system in Chicago is so closely connected to our political system that will never happen... Have a great day. Please enjoy my run on sentences and poor grammar.

He is worse than the Mayor of NYC. DiBlasio is more honest. Rahm is worse but keeps it all under wraps, Rahm knows if he were truthful he would start a revolt. Rahm is as phony as a three dollar bill. A dirty lying bastard. Once in a while he makes a comment about income equality. That is the true Rahm, take from the working class to give to the LINK card class. Closes schools and then claims he is increasing educational opportunity.

That pre-k shit is just sickening and no one but Ben Joravsky calls him on it. We are fucked with Rahm in there.

And in Feb, maybe 35% of registered voters will bother going to the polls. Big fucking deal.

Here's what I would do with the CPD if I was Mayor. Granted, this may offend Hair Gels & Liberals who are on the force but too bad, I'd be mayor not you, so suck it up Frances.

Alright now, here goes: .....
--- 1) Put an IMMEDIATE END to the CPD playing goddamn Social Worker. You guys and Gals are POLICE, you were NOT hired to do Conflict Resolution bullshit.
--- 2) If 'Junior' doesn't want to go to school and 'Mom' wants a cop to come over and talk to him, to MAKE HIM GO, it's GET LOST lady, not our job. Call your social worker.
--- 3) If 16 y.o. daughter dearest is arguing with momma and 'mom' calls the police because "she's being disrespected", it's GET LOST Lady, not our job. Call your Social Worker.
------- 3a) Ditto for daughter not wanting to go to school and you 'making her go'. It's call your friggen Social Worker.

I think you get the gist about these types of bullshit calls I'm talking about in the above. 'Someone' got it into their empty skull that the Police have take the place of a Husband and/or Father being in the home. This is utter bull-crap and a complete waste of Police manpower, resources, and time. And NO, these are NOT 'domestic disputes' that 'could escalate'. It's a kid being an asshole all because there's no man in the home to whoop his ass. (thanks Femi-Nazis. How's all that, 'women don't need a man around', working out for ya?)

--- 4) If 'Wendy' is in the house/apartment arguing with her boyfriend 'Paul' (or it's a girlfriend), and calls the police Just because BF Paul raised his voice at her, disrespected her, blah, blah. You got it. It's Get Lost Lady, work it out, or call your goddamn Social Worker.
------- 4a) Ditto 'Get Lost' if it's a married couple. Couples argue, raised voice 'ain't' a matter for police (we're married 39 years, 3 months, 18 days and if I had $5 for each 'argument' we'd be living in a 20 room mansion)
--- 5) Ditto for zero Police response for bullshit like two drivers arguing over a Parking Space. They don't need the cops they need their heads examined.

And forget any of these types of calls even going to non-emergency 311. Police do NOT do social work if I'm mayor, and that's f--king that!! Some of the 911 calls that come in are mind boggling STUPID, but you guys & gals know that. It's hard to believe there are people out in public that are that helpless, clueless, stupid.

Back in 'my day' if we made calls to the police for bull-crap like you have now, WE'D be the ones arrested, arrested for wasting Police Time, Manpower, and Resources -- and rightfully so.

Rahm is so full of crap, he stated in today's paper that he did put 1,000 cops back on the street, some coming from units that knew nothing about the community, but how does VRI that draws coppers from all over the city to work in ghetto districts . how do they know that community or the bad people, this little worm is a pathetic liar and the newspapers let him get away with it. And still he will be the next mayor.

Rahm is all about optics. Didn't rahm's brother in law Les use his police uniform to fabricate an image of a tough on crime candidate rahm “rombo” emmanuel through made for T.V. campaign propaganda. Image over substance. The great deception.

Rahm, dress up in a superhero costume with a big "S" on your chest and proclaim truth, justice and the progressive way. Tuck a sock in the mid section to convey an image to the public that they are getting a candidate with a big crime fighting package. Or jack it up and go for broke. You may want to borrow one of those Hans and Franz inflatable muscle suits in conjunction with sizable latex marital aid phallic props. Oy vey! What an image. Chicago’s 2016 Olympics can’t come soon enough!

The superintendent’s claim to fame is that he is a formerly high ranking police official like Chief O’Hara from the Gotham City. Weren’t there two costumed Caped Crusaders who took on premier criminals such as The Joker, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, The Riddler, King Tut and puuurrrrr Cat woman from Gotham City? Chicago will not be outdone!

The Gotham City may have Batman and Robin. The Second City has Garry McCarthy as Statman and mayor emanuel as Throbbin, The Boy Blunder. And throw in a special appearance by Ric Flair and Deputy Chief Gorgeous. All dressed in stretchy spandex glamour with snug utility belts with all the crime reduction strategy tools.

Superintendent McCarthy as Statman has archrivals such as the Gangsta Disciples, The Latin Kings, The Black Peace Stones, last years manipulated murder statistics, Four Corner Hustlers, Com Stat deniers, The Two Six and his personal pet peeve, The MLDs or Maniac Latin Disciples.

Mayor emanuel as Throbbin the Boy Blunder can take on his identified rivals in daily battles with made up villains such as the previous Presidential Administration, Wall Street, 2nd Amendment Right Advocates, The Republicans, Big Oil, Private Enterprise, The Congress and his ultimate political opposition thorn in his side common sense everyday people nemesis, The Taxed Enough Already or T.E.A. Party.

Problem is when they campaign, they make all the promises, which are never kept including hiring police. All changes when they have to find the money to hire the additional police. As far as the police being a voting block,we never have been and never will be.
Politicians would rather have the police unhappy then to have to tell the voters property taxes will have to be raised to hire more police. Been that way for decades and always will be.

How much longer are we going to accept the constant demoralization by our president for contributing to the growth and prosperity of our country while he praises those of able mind and body who contribute nothing? If those who now contribute nothing were working 8 hours a day, I can guarantee that it would reduce by 30%, the overall crime rate and solve the pension crisis in every state. Idle time is the devils workshop and the head devil and his administration are making sure that their disciples have plenty of idle time. Idle time to create chaos, murder, robbery, theft, rape, assault, looting, arson, procreation out of wedlock insuring more disciples who will eventually vote for those who ensure their idle time and provide for their every need that we have to work for. This is the first stage of communism called Demoralization. Are we going to let this first stage be completed?

OT - A magazine called In These Times published an article by Rick Perlstein today, Jan 21, 2015, about the city of Chicago's increasing reliance on privatization deals and the legacy they leave behind. Here is the link to the article on their website.

It's a lengthy article and an interesting read.
