See Ya George!

So not only is Rahm's effort of getting the Obama Library on the ropes, now he is on the verge of dashing the hopes of midwestern Star Wars geeks everywhere:
  • George Lucas said Friday that complications in his plan to build the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art on the Chicago lakefront may put Los Angeles back in the running.

Last summer, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti made a vigorous push to get the “Star Wars” creator to choose Los Angeles, but the city lost out to Chicago.

“We still have to get through some lawsuits and things in Chicago,” Lucas said during a phone call while promoting his upcoming animated feature, “Strange Magic.”

“Once we make it through, we’ll be on our way. But it’s still a possibility that Chicago will be unable to do it,” Lucas said.
Go Rahm!

I'm sending a donation to Friends of the Parks tomorrow, to help fund their lawsuit against the Lucas Eyesore on the Lakefront.

Both the Lucas museum and the Obama library will be located in Chicago.

The election is only a few short weeks away. Once Rahm is re-elected the bulldozers will roll. To hell with the courts, Friends of the Parks and community input.
Rahm has promised both parties that March 1 groundbreaking announcements can be made.

Count on it

The Lucas museum doesn't belong here. It has absolutely no connection to th e history or culture of Chicago. He can build it on hus own land in napa, cal. Why mar our lakefront with it? He wants to see it before he dies. Why not build a monument to john huston or john ford while you are at it?

The local gubnet always winds up paying $millions into these projects above the cost of the facility. We don't need a shrine to a pathetic criminal politician or a Hollyweird eyesore on our beautiful lakefront. Let Lucas take his shrine to LA. The lakefront and parks belong to us peasants.

The arrogance, the gall, these millionaires and politicians turning their back on the great founders of this City. These were great men who had the citizens in mind when they put laws on the books that said 'we will not build on these lands - they are for the people'.

Now comes the despicable politicians who will take our public land and make it private for 'libraries and museums' that feed their egos. This is wrong, so wrong.

If these despots prevail in stealing public land, it will be just one more glaring example of how corrupt this city is.

One teeny issue I see from the Building Illustrations is -- Besides the top looking like an UFO that's just landed, lottas yuks coming on THAT! -- it appears that the sloped exterior walls are accessible from the walkway and are easily scaled by some daring 'youths' who like wearing $300 dollar sneakers.

Another issue is that the design looks somewhat like Two Silver Volcanoes -- the big one topped by that aforementioned UFO. The smaller one to the right definitely looks like a volcano to me.

And in this view looking North we can plainly see Soldier Field, which in itself has been mocked and derided for looking like a UFO plopped down in what was the old soldier field.

So does Chicago really need another new structure that adds to the look like we've been invaded by Space Aliens from the planet Antares?

Other than that I think it looks just fine, honest.
LOL! ROFL!

With your help we will return it to the lakefront to sand dunes and tumbleweeds.

I'm as cynical as anyone when it comes to Chicago and it's politics, but man there are some big time haters amongst us! Don't really see how having the Star Wars museum here would be a bad thing?! Another sound source of revenue that would bring in people world-wide for decades to come and most people here just scoff at it. Now the graft and corruption surrounding the building of the facility and whatnot would be typical I'm sure.

As if the area around the Museum Campus isnt already horrible with traffic, we really need more congestion and no parking. If they want something futuristic, slap a dome on that space ship they call Soldier Field and put his movie relics in there, then go build a REAL retractable dome football stadium elsewhere with plenty of parking and tailgating!

+++++Headline important+++++
FYI, members of the cities law department, finance and mayors office (not the mayor) had an "impromptu" meeting with attorneys at Jones-Day law firm. You probably think why is this important. Its important because if you do research you will see that the Jones-Day law firm just finished handling the City of Detroit's Bankruptcy. Jones-Day orchestrated the entire Detroit financial restructuring and pension overhaul. Research even further and you will find that Jones-Day are major business/municipality experts for bankruptcy. Trust me, that 500 million dollar payment for our pensions will not get paid and the above meeting is why. Yes, the city will declare bankruptcy to get its pension overhaul. The information may seem off the wall and exaggerated but from the person I got the information from its extremely reliable and needs to be received seriously. God help us.

You seem to know nothing of the history of the movie STARWARS or how it was made. How about CITIZEN CANE or GRAVITY or UNBROKEN of any movie you might have seen or will see in your life.
But it is not just about STARWARS. It is about the Narrative Art of telling stories through the medium of film and all that that entail. Go look it up online.
They will all be part of it as an educational resource. Why does any film student have to go to California to learn these things. We could have them here and it would be part of a museum I would like to visit often and I assure you I and my grandkids are not dorks.
