Bratton Denies

  • New York Police Commissioner William Bratton is denying a published report that rank-and-file New York City police officers have been told not to take any vacation or sick days until the number of low-level arrests and summonses return to normal levels.

According to a report in the New York Post, officers in individual precincts are being ordered to hand in "activity sheets" to borough commanders. The sheets describe the number of arrests and summonses during each officer's shift.

But Bratton said during a news conference Monday afternoon that the NYPD is not denying officers vacations and sick time.
Sure, because those are contractually guaranteed, and if they're like us, they schedule/bid them far in advance.

But optional time? We'd imagine they'd be smart enough not to put such a policy down on paper, but hey, that "manpower" phrase is a bitch, ain't it? We gotta have this many cars up, we gotta have these many foot posts manned, you know, there's a vague "terror threat" that is going to restrict time off. Management plays games, too. None of this would be a surprise.

Watch for our brass to pull the same stunt. Our new contract states the FOP and City will meet to reach a resolution to the elective time off crisis. It will never happen. One more promise made but wont be kept by Dean.

Of course he denies it, but now bosses must realize years ago they could say things and deny it,so it was boss vs blue shirt and of course boss wins every time! But now with all the video and audio sources bosses can still win but open up for a lawsuit, you have to watch out for coppers today the same old BS does not work! "You have to know the rules boss before you break the rules it makes it more fun!"

Lynch’s union, the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA), is in turmoil, beset by infighting, according to interviews with more than 40 police officers and union insiders. His support among the rank-and-file is slipping, they said.

On Tuesday, a group of union insiders is set to announce a campaign to unseat him in the upcoming June election, several PBA trustees said. Since being elected in 1999, Lynch, who rose to power on a promise of term limits and reforming a union riven by corruption, has faced scant opposition.

"Pat Lynch has lost the membership,” said police veteran and union delegate Sean Guzerian. "The bosses don’t respect him, and the cops are tired of him. They look at him as a politician, not a police officer."

Imagine that?

But there won't be enough people sticking together. You will have all the babies still turning in numbers just to keep their car/start time/spot. If everybody stuck together and did ABSOLUTELY nothing proactive downtown would take notice within a week. These bosses want to be tyrants like this bully superintendent. All these exempt kiss up to him. Not one has ever had the guts to stand up and tell him he is full of shit. They drink his kool aid and try to be like him. If you guys in 25 think she is so bad (and she is) then stand together and don't do a fucking thing except answer calls, handle them properly, make arrests when warranted and back each other up. You guys have the power to screw her over. Show your balls and do it. Somebody has to start it. you guys be the leaders because our exempts sure as hell are not!

What's that line in the Cain Mutiny? Where the Capt is found unfit to lead? So the officer takes command of the ship?

It's already been settled. Time due by seniority. Now you will see the city work on duty trades so the related/gifted one can get time off.

Your an idiot to think that the FOP does not take order from city hall. In recent years I have noticed that they do as told. This is after I starting looking into them. So they have been toting water for along time.

Now that the strings are unravelling, more people are noticing and asking what are they doing when such and such is going on--- answer is, they got both hands full right now, toting all that water for city hall. I am sure we seen those films with guys toting 2-- 5 gallon buckets with a stick on their shoulders.
