Quinn Releases Asshole (UPDATE)
- Quinn commuted the 40-year sentence of Howard Morgan, who was convicted of shooting at four Chicago police officers during an early morning traffic stop in 2005 in the Lawndale neighborhood. Morgan, who was a Chicago police officer before becoming a railroad cop, claimed he was the victim of overzealous officers. But police said Morgan fired at them first, and testimony indicated he fired 17 times, while he was hit more than two dozen times.
And as far as we can tell, he did it without any explanation of the reasons behind his decision. Morgan was convicted in a court of law of attempting to murder 4 police officers, and now he gets a walk for what reason exactly?
UPDATE: Howard Morgan actually succeeded in wounding three of the four officers he shot at.

Maki will want to open up a flood of prisoners being released. He is of the belief that there is no such thing as a bad boy.

The man, who RedEye is not naming because he has not been charged with a crime, was taken into custody at 9:40 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of West Wilson in Uptown, according to the police report. And the iPhone purported to be the one stolen from Zach Emanuel during the late December holdup has been found, the document shows.
Police spokesman Marty Maloney denied an arrest had occurred and did not answer other questions from RedEye. Representatives of the mayor did not return RedEye's requests for comment.
When reached by RedEye, the 18-year-old man's mother confirmed police took her son into custody yesterday to question him about a stolen iPhone.
The mother said her son did not steal the phone but got it from a friend of his and later sold it on the Internet.
"[He] said he didn't touch anybody. He got the phone from another kid," the mother said.

10 hard years my ass. He did 6 months in the hospital, two months in the county. Then got a 200,000 anonymous donation to be out on bond. Got convicted and placed in custody in early 2012. Now he is getting out. He did less than 4 years for shooting at 4 cops, hitting 3 of them....
