Tribune Lies...Deliberately (UPDATE - Hahaha)
We don't suppose we're actually surprised, but this is most definitely irresponsible in the extreme (we got this from an e-mailer who pays attention):
- Check this out. The cops released a community alert late Friday night about strong-arm robberies happening in Lake View and Uptown.
Apparently the Trib got the release. They rewrote it, as newspapers do. They included this paragraph:
"Two or more offenders carried out each robbery, according to the statement. No detailed description of the offenders was available."

In the Waveland incident, offender #1 is described as a black male, 5'10-6'00, 150-170 lbs, with a black jacket, while the co-offender is described as being 5'07- 6'00, 150-170 lbs."
So who wants to guess why the Tribune is deliberately omitting the descriptions from their new stories? Descriptions that might actually allow people to be aware of their surroundings, be alert to suspicious characters that might harms them or other citizens, and might assist the police in apprehending the offenders?
Oh right....we forgot....black people.
Anyone want to bet that if America ever gets around to having that "discussion on race" that Holder, Obama, Jesse, Al and Louis always want to have that the Tribune will be hiding in a closet hoping somehow, somewhere, Ed Burke will be introducing an ordinance against dihydrogen monoxide.

What a bunch of fools - the story isn't anywhere near their main pages, so you can bet no one saw it, but they can go back through their archives one day and tell everyone who questions their objectivity, "Hey, we covered it. See? Look!" And they do it without any attribution, notice of correction or statement that the Chicago Police Department provided them with exactly the same information as Uptown Update, but they were too politically correct to publish it.
Oh right....we forgot....black people.

I propose this "discussion on race", if it ever actually materializes, be held concurrently with a "Beer Summit". And because I pull absolutely no punches while stone sober, a few cold ones under my belt would guarantee the truth came out. Repeatedly. And in grand fashion.

Tribune is trying to get everyone to be a victim since they dont want to publish important facts about a dangerous issue. The Tribune is awful and poorly written and should be ashamed of the paper it pathetically prints.
It would be nice if the Tribune had put an actual author's name to the article so we could flame/praise them accordingly. But it's The Tribune, so I don't expect anything other than pure hackery.
Sounds to me like the tribune is racist. They must be making assumption that there readers know the race of offenders.
I've noticed another odd editorial decision in the pages of the Tribune. Stories about sexual assault, where the offender has been caught and charged, now include every little detail about what the sexual acts the offender performed on the victim or demanded the victim do to the offender. Not-a-Cop, so I don't know squat about the how the accused's bad acts are presented to the court to support the charges brought against him. But based on the way these particular stories read, it sounds to me like the information is lifted from the prosecutor's stated reasons for charging the accused. But how is this helpful? No unusual information is offered, such as, the offender took the victim to a particular place, or that he used an unusual gun or knife to force compliance. Other than a mug shot, no physical characteristics are noted such and height, weight or a description of a tattoo. Is another victim really going to come forward on the basis of the report and say, "yeah, my rapist made me blow him too"? Clearly these "news reports" include salacious details for no other reason than to excite the reader. Congrats Tribune, way to make the innocent victim who is the subject of the story not feel anymore humiliated or violated than she already is. That it can do - but print information that could catch strong arm robbers from striking again - not a chance in hell it seems.
This is such a common thing at the Tribune that it cannot be called a mistake or a coincidence. It is a pattern, a code, a rule that they alone follow.
America will NEVER have an honest discussion about race.
An honest discussion about race would have to include an acknowledgement that there are people, primarily African Americans and democrats, who benefit financially and politically by keeping Americans divided on race.

Sgt is correct. It's 025's paper, but 014 will get the statistic. See that little box that says "Beat of Occurrence"? That tells the bean counters where to put the pushpin on the map. Now look up your orders. The officers regardless of District of assignment who responds to the call will do the paper regardless of address of occurrence. You don't get to pick and choose. Ask an old timer and they'll give you names of guys who took time for blowing off reports to other districts.
Kinda like how it's not Muslim terrorism...According to Sun Tzu if you never name the enemy then they are not real, which makes them undefeatable.

They also are whiners (boys town) who only want views expressed to match their own. They definitely hate Tunney and use it to vilify him. Many times my informational comments --not opinion-- are not published as they don't fit the anti-Tunney narrative.
These goofs think if an alderman begs long enough he can get 100 officers assigned to the district. They have no concept how this city works or not these days.

They quit doing that in the 60's, if they ever just reported the facts.
This is nothing new. Been going on for over 50 years. Thats why the FBI tried to get the uniform reporting guide because all the departments in the country were lying and underreporting crime.
Can't you remember no robbery just a theft and a battery, no auto theft for peeling the steering column, just CDTP for a few examples.

No....because I canceled my subscription to that mouthpiece for the Progressive Democratic Party years ago. In fact, it was the day after they put Obama in office.
I also noted that the northwest neighborhood newspapers (Nadig) have also stopped describing the offenders in their police blotters.
Why bother even printing this drivel if you can't serve the public with exact information and selectively edit offender descriptions.
