Ric Flair to Head State Police

WOO!!!!!

  • Michael Sneed has learned the state’s top cop, Hiram Grau, who has decades long career in Chicago Police enforcement, has resigned from his job.

Word is Grau, a highly respected former member of the CPD’s top brass, will be replaced by Chicago Police commander Leo Schmitz, who currently heads the Englewood Police district. Schmitz, 55, joined the CPD in August, 1986.

Schmitz was selected for the job because of his experience in one of the more rougher districts in the city, a source said.
Schmitz, who has received all of his promotions under democrats, is now working for a republican.

Rauner also nominated John Maki, head of the pro-criminal rights group the John Howard Association, as head of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

After Rauner ran ads attacking Quinn over early release he appoints one of the biggest advocates in the state for letting more criminals out early into a position of policy making.

Here's an op-ed written by this clown that shows you his way of thinking

I do not know Grau or Schmitz but why does a law enforcement organization with a rich traditions and extensive reach into every corner of this state have to get an outsider as its chief.

And the answer is the same as Rahm did with us. This RINO governor wants a hatchetman to cut the costs of the Illinois State Police and the troopers and the people be damned.

Watch out our ISP friends, Leo must have learned a lot from McCarthy and I think you are in for some bad times.

He went in there and told Leo a bunch of bullshit. before the hammer was dropped he looked into it himself and found that the sergeant was full of shit. The p.o didn't lose his spot. I didn't know the commander well but he earned my respect that day and when I left gangs I never saw him ever put an officer in the trick bag without knowing the facts. I don't care what anybody says you guys can sit here and talk all the shit you want but at the end of the day the state police just picked up one of the good guys. Same with Rick Flare... a full pension for 4 years. So keep stroking him saying what a swell guy he is, a working police and a great boss... neither of these two ever passed a promotional test and only got to their respective level within cpd due to clout.
So keep busting your ass out there and kissing these guy's asses. They'll have double or triple pensions while you're lucky if you get your full pension.

I have worked for Leo in various units and districts over the past 20 years, reading some of these comments about him, two things stand out. First you have never really worked for a bad boss and second your lazy. Leo loves this job, he lives and breathes being the police. He goes out of his way to make sure that the people that work for him have the tools(equipment) they need to get the job done. While other bosses are sitting at home or in their office Leo is out on the street making arrests. As officers we bitch about how bosses need to get out here and do police work. Here is a boss doing just that and he still gets criticized. I know we are natural complainers but wtf, you cant win for losing. Who cares how many awards he has on his uniform, I dont care if he put himself in for all of them. Ive worked beside him and Ive assisted the man on the street, hes the working police. Im not a personal friend and he has never done me a favor and Im not looking for any favors. I just think its crazy that with all the bad useless bosses on the job that guys find it necessary to rip on the ones that are out there working and taking care of their people .Sorry for the rant. ISP, your getting a great boss.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Obviously this is why you work midnights and have 2 minutes on the job. Guess what, he's right. On New Years at midnight everyone everyehere shoots in the air. By you not laying low for 15 minutes and yelling like a little girl that you hear shots fired does two things.. It makes u sound like an idiot with no time or experience on the job.. 2nd is it pulls coppers out from under the viaduct they are under to come to your nonsense exposing them to possible danger. Listen. If you wanna get a gun that's fine.. Drive slow and try to pinpoint where dude is shooting from and watch him and then Rush him when he goes back into the house to reload or puts the gun up outside.. Or try half hour before midnight the hit a viaduct for 15 min and let the majority of shooting stop the hit the street with a group and wait for the drunk ones to go out a little later and start shooting... You don't need to broadcast anything in the radio.. Stop being so new and learn that the radio is not your friend!!! It's another thing that can be brought into court. Like when you give every single detail over the radio the write something different in your report... Case dismissed. Get time on the job and think. For once Leo was actually 100 percent right.

Without a doubt Leo plays the political game at times. Let's face it, his position requires a political side at times. However he was always out and about with the troops and always supporting them. I worked in 007 a long time and worked through quite a few commanders and Leo ranks at the top of that list along with Calloway. Calloway was always so kind but wasn't proactive on the streets(sharing intelligence constantly, etc) like Leo. He wasn't perfect but I wish Leo the best. ISP got a good one but try not to be bothered by his self-promoting because it can be a bit much at times.

You are living the dream kid..you probably have no more than five years on the job and are working tact in 007 via reverse seniority..because nobody else wants it..Leo is the only Boss you've ever known..so you worship him and all of his medals/ribbons. Now go home to mommy' s house, put on your "englewood ranger" pajamas, and watch reruns of the wire, while mommy prepares a cup of warm milk for you.

Worked an edge mission years ago in 015 and 025. The assembly area was the old "peak performance driving" location behind 025. Officers working it from all over the city. Everyone is standing around waiting for the boss holes to get it together, when here comes Leo the Tact sergeant walking by looking like a model for a tactical gear catalog. Dude is wearing a gun on each thigh (in thigh holsters)..mind you they likely weren't even authorized. He's wearing cargo pants and wearing a camel back canteen and an earpiece in his ear..and of course all of his ribbons and shit.

All the north side units are laughing at this clown..thinking who the hell is this goof?..Fast forward 15 years later..now we know!

GOOD LUCK ISP! This guy has been over promoted based on his clout his whole career. He is a shameless self promoter. You will find some of his friends, and cheerleaders he's help over the years, saying" what a great guy he is"..but to the majority of us he is a tool!

Many people join C.P.D. to make the world a better place. All those arrests, awards and times you put yourself at risk are admirable, but the political suck asses have a more rewarding strategy.

Get connected make as much rank as you can, enhance your resume, maximize your pensions and make yourself politically attractive to collect another big pension in another government agency. Doing police work is personally rewarding, but those who have degraded themselves as a loyal foot soldier in the political arena laugh all the way to the bank with their 1st & 16th largeness. Control and power by rank stroke the egos of those obedient strokers. And don’t forget their inflated pension as an everlasting reward for loyal political service.

Merit is all too often a reward for following the whims, the wishes and the direct orders of the political apparatchiks really running this department. Tow the party line, take care of your sponsor of your scholarship, do as you are told and good things will follow comrade. Remember the spoken role is to serve the public, but realistically it to satisfy and to follow directions of the ruling political class. Crime fighting should not be your goal. A more rewarding strategy is to maximize your own pension. This should be your ultimate goal.

I worked tact for Leo in 007. He would barge into the tact office and tell us to hot seat it. If you don't know what that means it's skipping roll call grabbing your car keys and radio and hitting the crime scenes as soon as possible. Leo will be breathing down your necks. He doesn't let up. He's like the Energizer Bunny on crack. Leo is one the greatest self promoters I have ever seen. He's a nice guy but he's all about himself.

Yes, a bleached blonde Energizer Bunny on crack who was unable to pass a promotional examination high enough to be promoted in rank order, ever. Merit hack who can look into a mirror and wink to himself comfortable in the knowledge he took something that belonged to someone else.

It's a shame there aren't any Troopers that could do the job. It's too bad Command spots are all political appointments. Maybe CPD didn't see leadership skill to make him our Superintendant and ISP couldn't find someone within their ranks. Looks like a kick in the teeth any which way.
And for the record, Rauner is about as Repub as the appointed the Jr. Sharptoon, Rev Meeks.

It seems that you really know nothing about Meeks and his position on education. He is strongly for alternative schools and is against the teacher's unions. That alone is enough for me. The unions have ruined the schools in this state and have provided inferior education to most of the students. I hope the new governor gets a law passed that outlaws strikes by teachers.Schools should be funded by the state tax and not property taxes and all school districts in the state should be funded equally. Hooray for Meeks.

Obviously this is why you work midnights and have 2 minutes on the job. Guess what, he's right. On New Years at midnight everyone everyehere shoots in the air.

1/11/2015 11:09:00 AM

How about, who cares all around! Screw the gun because it's not worth the risk in many ways or the paper and time. It's like trying to empty the ocean with a spoon over there. The court could care less anyway. Especially New Years Eve related. Find a very safe place and go home to your family in one piece. Hopfully the only gun you see that night is yours and your partners.

It actually was the old Montgomery Ward freight terminals of the Milwaukee Road's Galewood Yard, before it was driving school. Anyway it was the meeting location when they had all the Tact Teams do two or three straight days of reverse stings on the west side,

Just saw the article in the post. It is an outrage that these asshole city administrators are demanding tickets in exchange for a sick day or vacation day. Decades were spent cleaning up corruptive practices that plagued major police departments in the form of bribes and quid pro quo, and now they want to legitimize those old practices with the use of time instead of money. That shitbag commie mayor and his use of law enforcement as revenue collectors is the root of the problem. It was the reason for the whole Garner incident in the first place. Now he's telling his puppet police chief to deny all time off until they sandbag citizens with more tickets? That chief is another useless pile of cow pie for issuing that order. I hope they take this to federal court because it reeks of unconstitutional shit. These people think they can dictate life and death like we live in a 3rd world primeval amazonian pit. Think again. The economic noose is tightening around the city's neck and they don't like how it feels. The police department hit these political thieves right where they live- in the wallets of the taxpayers. If they can hold out, they will send that clown DiBlowhole running out of town.

What is the matter with the ISP that a boss cannot come from their own ranks? I guess it is the came with CPD, they go outside for bosses. Bad moves in my opinion, I guess the politicians use that to keep political control over their departments.

1/11/2015 11:09:00 AM

I will tell you what's wrong. We promoted too many people above where they should be. Our bosses feel when they get promoted they can do what they want, when they want, to who they want, because I'm a M/Sgt. and I'm the State Police. So just maybe D/C Schmitz will remind these clowns that nobody cares that we are the State Police. Maybe he will tell these bosses how it is and like I have seen numerous CPD and a couple local PD's with balls do, tell our bosses to get out of here, go back to the highway and write some speeders.

WOW - stop your whining!!

If they put Jesus Christ in charge of ISP some of you would find fault with that.

"He can walk on water and make wine out of water, but can he make bourbon?"

Those who are whining - what's YOUR claim to fame? What's on YOUR resume of accomplishments and accolades??

I don't know him from Adam but read about him on SCC and even if he has some short-comings, he sounds like he looks out for his people more than most of the commanders.

So what do you want? A guy that at least thinks about your welfare or someone who only thinks about their own??

Trouble is - the whole Illinois system is clout-heavy with hacks and incompetent screwballs.

They could not handle a real leader like me because I would go after all of them and run them out of town - as well as the state.

Leo looks like a superstar compared to his competition.

The question some of you have to ask yourself is - If YOU'RE so fucking good, why aren't they calling you to head the troops?

This state is NOT a meritocracy and those who work hard do not gain the points some clouted hack does just by showing up. It doesn't sound like much is changing with Rauner - but he IS better than Quinn (A non-leader)

Those who whine - go off on your own and start a company. See how much risk there is in being in total command - and not getting any steady paycheck or benefits.

OH - now I don't see too many whining generals wanting to leave the cocoon of the city payroll.

Don't condemn Leo. Whether you like it or not, he has the charm and wit to advance in this slanted system. At least he has the guts to go forward, even if it is just doing a lot of self-promotion.

If he delivers, he is OK in my book. He probably isn't a bad guy to work for - compared to the other gems you have in CPD.

I worked with Frazier Thomas at WGN-TV and let's just say he wasn't a very nice guy off camera. The other on the air people like Roy Brown, Bob Bell, Marshal Brodean and especially Ray Rainer were joys to work with. Was Grau such a s failure as Director or Chief of the Illinois State Police that he did not develop one person in that whole organization who could take command when he left?

Now I do not know Leo Schmitz, he may be the best cop who ever walked the streets of the 7th District since H.H. Holmes built the Murder Castle. But how is that going to play out in places like Vermillion, Sangamon and Pulaski counties.

Does the state legislature have any say who is to head the ISP? They should and they may want someone different and someone from the ISP. The troopers should be asking their state senators and reps to take action on this slap in the face.

The troopers are going to be asking why is this guy here and will look at the damage McNumbnuts did to the CPD and figure that is what he is going to do to them. They should expect cutbacks in personnel, equipment, pay upgrades and especially pensions. Anything that costs money will be victim of the new hatchetman if Leo follows what I think will be his instructions from Rauner.

Good luck and stay safe troopers..

Does anyone know if there's a way to do the 4-2 calendar on iPhone 6? 1/10/2015 10:21:00 AM

Here's one way to put in your rdo's on your iPhone (works only for current ios that lets you repeat events):

Say you're off Mon and Tues, go into calendar and create an all day event and call it "RDO" for Mon. Repeat event every 6 days, end the repeat whenever, dec 31 if you want. Do the same for that Tues, and now a dot will appear in your calendar on each of your rdos. Works for me, and I can schedule stuff, dr appts., etc., and know what days I'm off without having to open a separate app or a pdf file.
-----------------------------//////////-///---------------
Thank you-this was easy to do and it worked great!

For arrogant blowhards like McCarthy, it's no longer about the money. It's about power and fame. He loves being the center of attention everywhere he goes. He loves having all the losers kiss his ass non stop. He's a loud mouthed chest thumping type that always has to be right. He's your typical blowhard that has the Indiana Jones syndrome. The Indiana Jones syndrome for you younger kids is when you tell a story, he's got to come over the top and beat it. If you went swimming in the ocean, he went swimming in the ocean surrounded by sharks. If you jumped a car on your motorcycle, he jumped 5 cars engulfed in flames on his. So in closing, he'll NEVER retire. He'll probably die heading up some type of police organization somewhere.

Catch him in his role as pastor he is much less compromising or accommodating. He may play games with politicians but his parishioners aren't there for the politics...he is a real pastor. The ISP Director can live anywhere in Illinois. I'm sure with a wink and a nudge could live across the state line with an Illinois PO Box.

I wonder if he will do the Hiram and his Henchmen tour? When Grau came to ISP he had group meetings in all 22 ISP districts with everyone, rookie to command. Wanted to know what they could do to help the road guys. My buddy brought up a scheduling issue that command and the FOP agreed on the resolution. Hiram said he would look into it. Now you would think an issue that command and the FOP agreed upon would be fairly easy to resolve. Never happened and nobody knows why. And there began the lack of logic decision-making process that Hiram and his minions left for their legacy.

Listen folks..if Leo gets the job, that just means that the phone calls have been made, and the checks cleared. Nothing more. Its a political appointment. You serve at the will of the Gov, and the Gov can appoint whomever to the job they want(see Monken..) All Leo will be is the placeholder and a figurehead with a nice 6 figure salary(i think the job makes like $170, plus perks)on top of his pension. And dont worry, google his Missus in a few months and Im sure you'll find that she made her way on to the state payroll to augment her pension as well, so her and Leo will be doing fine($$$$$). Plenty of money to kick back in political contibutions. Yes, I do feel for some of the State bosses that work hard and rise up hoping to get the top spot, but dont get too weepy for them just yet. One, most know that they will never get the spot internally, so they take care of themselves by sending each other to command training, padding their resumes, etc, then most seem to find cushy landing spots for themselves post retirement(see the chiefs of Lockport, Lemont, Metra,Deputy Chief of Schaumburg, etc) to supplament their 80% pensions. See Hilliard Heintz consulting, Ken Busche, Seeems like every time they get a contract to find a new chief for someone a state guy get it. Wonder why? Busche is former ISP. Its all a game. Stay safe. take care for your partners and your families and enjoy the ride.

He knows his shit about tactics and taking down dangerous people. Never worked for him other then going though that door. So rip me up if want! But, you cannot take that away from him.

I have known Leo for 25 years and I will agree he loves being the Police. A lot of the posters on this blog think that is a bad thing, I don't.
One thing I can tell you is that in 25 years I have never seen Leo hurt another copper and have seen him step way over the line and stick his neck way out to help more coppers than I can count that stepped in a little shit. Leo leads from the front and will never ask you to do anything he wouldn't do himself. You may blast my comment because I think he is one of the few good bosses left on this job but I can think of about a hundred Bosses on this job that you would have to be nuts to prefer instead of Leo. I think the troopers sure could have done a lot worse.

Nobody is advocating running to the shots fired, but call them in for GOD sake. Let the other officers know. The ones that may not have heard them. It's a safety issue moron. Stick the PPO comments up your ass. You are an idiot

Truth must hurt ppo. If you're sitting under a viaduct like you should be ppo, then the safety issue is taken care of. You can't tell ppo's anything. Ppo's like yourself always refuse to listen like the idiots they are. Oh and next time you post, try separating what you've typed from what you've copied and pasted from the previous poster, idiot ppo. Shove that up your slick sleeve ass.

Your own words show you what an idiot he is and you for following him. Search warrant for an M4? His tactics are as fucked up as you. No wonder that Captain took one in the face in the 007th District. Acting like Cowboys with no skills or tactics gets coppers killed. It's onlt a matter of time before Leo or that Captain gets someone hurt. You keep blowing him and feeding their ego. Leo and the Captain are two incompetent merit promoted ass clowns. We are doomed.

Stay safe. take care for your partners and your families and enjoy the ride.

hummmmmm???? anyone from the numerous media outlets that troll this page looking for tidbits wanna follow this up??? especially the HH angle???

First order of business Director please call out and address the new m1 Sgt. Who wears a "I can't breath" anti Police shirt to ISP HQs during training.

1/11/2015 03:02:00 PM

I can't believe a troop would wear a shirt like that. Sad. He is a control and arrest instructor too. Would you want him backing you up?
