Drones? Seriously, Drones?

  • Using drones to gain an advantage when hunting or fishing might soon be illegal under a bill proposed by state Sen. Julie Morrison.

“Let’s keep the man —or woman—in outdoorsman,” the Deerfield Democrat said in a statement. “Using drones to hunt makes the process too easy. That’s not fair for hunters and fishers who are seriously into the sport, and it’s not fair for the animals that deserve a chance to escape.”

While small animals that fear birds of prey run when they see unmanned aerial vehicles, larger game animals such as deer are unfazed by small aircraft, making them easy pickings for high-tech hunters, the statement said.
First up, the logistics of this are ridiculous. A hunter can use two hands to fly the drone and then two more hands to shoot a deer? And even if you're just using it for spotting, you usually up in a tree waiting for the deer to come by. Fishermen are in the same boat as it were. You aren't going to convince a fish to take the bait by flying a drone and you certainly can't land one while flying a drone and taking in line.

And have you even seen the deer around Illinois? Chronic Wasting Disease has taken a hefty toll on the population. Not only that, the deer could use a good culling - they're starving to death in many areas of the state. Poor Bambi is poorly managed and the entire species is suffering.

Finally, this shows just how un-serious politicians in general, and this democrat in particular, are. $111 billion (with a B-billion) in debt/pension liabilities, and she wants to outlaw drones. How about questioning something like why the law allows assholes like Quinn to pardon the criminals he did?

And if drones are outlawed, how will we practice for when the HK-Aerials arrive next decade?

This isn't such a far our proposal. In the Deep South it is against the state law to put food out in a way that traps an animal or gives the hunter an unfair advantage. They do not play in regard to hunting laws and definitely prosecute. I know this first hand. I think lawmakers are just extending laws that already exist to include new technology.

I know of a "guy" aka a "guy I known several years" out in michigan... who build a drone with all the high tech goodies. he used this drone for alot of ill thoughts. the thing would drop stuff from 500 feet. I need not go into detail. But I know everyone knows where this is going.

Problem is that no one connected to a Illinois politician has any connections with the manufacturing of the drones. If so, we all know there would be deals cut and programs created to regulate drones.

I don't think it's worth the effort to hunt deer, least in northern il.
first off the deer around the forest reserves are like the size if a chihuahua with antlers.
a few years back around Deerfield and highland park they tried culling them but it didn't work.
every once and awhile you might see a big one, but that most likely came out of wi.

Sorry, SCC, but I want the drones out of the sky. I don't want my forest preserves invaded by them and I don't want them flying over my summer home. I don't want Amazon flying hundreds of them around the neighborhood to deliver nose hair trimmers and small power tools to people.

They're a case of technology getting ahead of the law and I have NO problem with new laws limiting them.

Simple. It is easier to make laws about Bambi hunting with drones or using a drone while fly fishing, than it is to tackle the real problems with the state and it's economy. Politicians do not like to work.

Liberals need to all move to a Liberal Socialist land.....where they can tax and spend into oblivion.

So why can't I buy a regular light bulb any more? I have to have a "water-saver" toilet....a "water-saver" shower head that plumbers can't (legally) adjust to my standard....and T.P. is so small that what our family used to use in a week now goes in about 1.5 days?????

What happened to free choice?

While I think she is a dip shit, she is ahead of the curve on this one. These drones can and will get out of hand not only when it comes to hunting and fishing but to individuals personal privacy. If you can pin point where a herd of animals are or a large school of fish and harvest them it can be detrimental to wildlife populations. If you live in an area where hunting and fishing is commonplace there are ALWAYS poachers and they use every advantage possible and have no regard for animals or the consequences of their actions.

CWD......prions are scary shit, might want to stay away from IL venison. As to the actual management of the population, was that a rhetorical observation? After all it's not the health of the deer that matters, it's all about feelings.

HK-Aerials. Good one.

Terminator: The 12-gauge auto-loader.
Clerk: That's Italian. You can go pump or auto.
Terminator: The .45 long slide, with laser sighting.
Clerk: These are brand new - we just got them in. That's a good gun. Just touch the trigger, the beam comes on and you put the red dot where you want the bullet to go. You can't miss. Anything else?
Terminator: Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.
Clerk: Hey, just what you see pal...

Also what are fishers?

A telephone didn't used to be malevolent either, not when it was an old beige Western Electric #500 set tethered in your front hall, on a little "telephone table" with a shelf for the phone books underneath.

Nosepicker down the block flying the coming $9.95 plastic drone outside your windows, putting you and family on The Internet Of Things, all you need is a .410 to fix it. Put these on the "no bag limit - vermin" list...

I just want to let this get out there... I am a Republican, not a RINO. I see alot of people here always blame Demos for everything bad with illinois, obviously, because that is were it is due.

But, I think everyone should look at how the Republicans have our career made it just as bad as the Demos did. The thing is, the Republicans basically gave law enforcement a noose, and said, "Go kill yourself". It you look, you will find it. this goes back to the early 1970s, in the 1980s and 1990s, their agenda really showed itself, then got hidden again.

Your average drone only flies about 20 minutes... you will have to spend alot of moola to bring this technology up to speed. 5 years I say, it will be there

Sen. Morrison is an utterly clueless dipshit. She and that other member of the brain trust, Re. Drury got together in HP and Deerfield to push Assault Weapons Bans when the Legislature gave towns 10 days before the concealed carry act went into effect to do so...

Yeah another new law what a surprise.

Tell me something.

Since the legislature is suppose to represent the peoples will and not some organized crime family that makes shit up, calls them laws and then uses that to extract money from the people via fines and fees and then once those fines are collected there is no line item budget that shows whee the money has gone.

What group of citizens are demanding this.

Where's our so-called representation?

IMPORTANT READ:

"We Have Been Captured... We Are Parented, Not Represented"

Self-government is the gift our founding fathers made possible and out of lack of respect for the sacrifices of the past, the constitutional rights of the present and the freedoms of future Americans we allow it to be traded for a comfortable existence. We must stop and truly understand the concept of self-government as it was meant to be and then mentally reconcile that with the current state of our government. We are parented not represented. We are enslaved with encroaching laws that are demeaning to rational self sufficient adults. And by a legislative body that feeds from our bosom, fights with our fists and has buried us in debt to a foreign body who they sold the rights to our currency. How is this in any way a self-governed society? We have been captured by a group of fraudulent citizens who control our money, our military and have desecrated our constitution.
