Joravsky Toasts Local 2

  • It seems like only yesterday that Mayor Rahm—backed by his mayoral body guards, of course—was marching into firehouses to tell the rank and file he was cutting their pensions. And, if they didn't like it, they could kiss his mayoral derriere.

Well, that was then—or 2012, to be exact—and this is now, where to my surprise, the firefighters' union has decided to endorse Mayor Pension Snatch for reelection.

To get the inside scoop, I called Thomas Ryan, president of Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2, to ask: Tommy, what the f . . . In so many words, of course.
And he shows how the parties are attempting to rewrite history...and getting away with it.

Politics makes for strange bedfellows, and in this case blind and forgetful too.

As everyone waits for someone else to do something.

NEWSFLASH: There is no-one else there is only each one of us.

Snitches get stitches.

Look the other way.

When the pensions are gone everyone can say "we heard a noise and felt the monetary pain"

Maybe this is a good reason why people should vote using their brain instead of just doing whatever bullshit their union tells them to do.

Unfortunately, without a viable opposing candidate, rhamulus probably has a lock on this election.
Last night he held a "meet and greet" (meet the geek) at the Beverly Arts Center in the 19th ward; a ward that voted overwhelmingly against this guy last election. The place was packed. Unfortunately I think people would rather shake hands with the devil (literally) than vote a different party or race. Just an observation.

Wilson would be better than Rahm. In 1983 everyone (white people) was so afraid of Harold Washington and he turned out to be OK. Ed Burke and Vrdolyak were the evildoers. I will vote for Wilson. If every black voter and some hispanic and white voters all vote for Wilson we could throw Rahm the fuck out.

I spoke to a fire department Lieutenant about this yesterday.
He said that Rahm gave them a pretty good contract so it would be a "SHIT MOVE" to not endorse Rahm.

All of a sudden the Univ of Chicago comes out with a survey that shows that 90% of the kids that were transferred when schools, went to better schools, they also said in the same news conference that only 30% were doing better. Rhom pats himself on the back. (Isn't this the school his children he sends them to.) He also supports them when it comes to financial grants and wants to put the obama library there, no matter what the costs. He also shows that he is bringing companies to our city, but fails to show how many have left. He shows how Chicago is a tourist attraction, but doesn't show how muck the residents and tourists are victims of crime. McGoofy has not had his weekly news conference, it could hurt rahm, since crime numbers are still going up.

Harold Washington turned out to be OK. According to who? He is the one that said the city should not be in the healthcare business. The current court case that will eliminate the healthcare benefit for retirees was started by Washington in an effort to not pay for any healthcare for retirees. After he died there were a few 10 year agreements with the city, which just expired in the last few years. If Washington could have had it his way he would have dumped retiree healthcare in 1987

Since 1988 the City of Chicago and its four pension funds have been party to the settlement of City of Chicago v. Korshak regarding how much the City, the funds and annuitants pay for healthcare. The City pays for a portion of the retiree healthcare premiums and the pension funds subsidize part of the annuitant portion of the premium, with retirees paying the balance of the premium costs

Wilson is not the answer. Have you heard him speak?
Listened to any of his ideas? He's a buffoon.
I will not vote for Rahm but I couldn't vote for Wilson either.

local 2 also endorsed matt oshea, debra mell and the other schmuck alderman who wore the cant breathe shirts and marched with the shit bags. All 3 alderman are rubber staps. Local 2 also failed to endorse garrido the police LT. you have to ask yourself...... Do i support rahm emanuel and his policies? If the answer is no then you cant support your alderman. You rubber stamp alderman enables rahm to be the tyrant he is.

1/23//07:41:00 PM You are absolutely correct. Here in Ward 41 we have a rubber stamp incumbent Mary O'Conner. She as alderman has not introduced any significant legislation, always votes Rahm's way. Has she ever commented on the pension crisis, has she any ideas on the upcoming required balloon payment. NO! Not one instance of leadership! Yet the 41st Ward probably has one of the highest populations of city workers, police, and fire living in the ward. Also probably the highest percentage of police and fire retirees. ANYONE BUT O CONNER!

Anyone that reads this site has got to be a fool if you don't think that Rahm will be the mayor for a 2nd term. This little weasel is going to win, then swing with Rauner to cut out pensions, he has no intensions of paying back the money to the Police Pension fund. He keeps pissing off the regular citizens by having our pension problem dragged out into the news just when the public hates the police and why should I have any rights to my earned pension for working as the police for 38 yrs. It is a direct violation of the law to say that we are not entitled to this money, stop building parks, running festivals that don't make any money and giving bullshit contracts to all your friends Rahm.

The only sane choice is Fioretti. Rahm has lied about everything and the aholes at UIc support his bs. he is a friend of DiBlasio and will bring further sicial justice enabling nonsense to Chicago. He high fives dusengenuosly black kids and gets his ass kissed but he ahole media in this town like Dan michaloplolos, Fran Spielman, jay Levine and the rest. And Chuy garcia is a pawn of Preckwinkle who think the jails are filled with minorities because of profiling and marches with cop hating protesters. How stupid. If Fioretti isn't elected this city and our safety is over. This is more than an election. It's about our way of life that Rahms media is destroying.

I wish Fioretti would win,but it aint happening. He's not making a serious run,and if he were a real threat to Rham, the guy has tons of skeletons in the closet that would suddenly pop up.Chuy is not my ideal candidate, but I;m gonna cross the fingers and vote against Rham.

Rahm must be defeated, he has sold this city to his friends and contributors. Do all you cops like baby sitting the garbage druggies at lollapolooza so his thief brother can make a few more bucks that get sent back to Hollywood in return for campaign cash? Are all you guys going to like going for more training so you can be more sensitive to the plight of those who are trying to make your children orphans? Are you sick of begging for your pensions or bullet proof vests while Rahm gives billionaire lucas and Hobson 17 acres on the lakefront for $1 per year just because they donated to him? Are you going to like working for a mayor like Chuy garcia who believes all minorities in county are there because of racial profiling and marches with protesters with their hands up dont shoot nonsense? If this all sounds good to you then vote for rahm or garcia. If it pisses you off as well it should, vote for Fioretti, your lufe may depend on it.
